♦ STUDENT INFORMATION ♦
Name: Fuuka Hanazawa
Gender: Female
Age: “22” (Actually 107 years old)
Year in school: (super/2nd year) senior in college
Dorm: Sage
Height: 5’10”
Appearance: Fuuka has more difficulty keeping her horns, fangs, and claws at bay than the typical oni. Her human form is about the same as her oni form, minus the oni characteristics.
Personality:
Fuuka is, for lack of a better word, romantic. And that’s not just in the lovey-dovey sense either -- she has lofty ideas of how the world should work that are both idyllic and unrealistic. Her ideals tend to focus on love and hedonism. Her dream is to have many a suitor to dote on her and cater to her every whim. She wants to be loved more than anything else, especially by someone who will let her indulge in life’s pleasures (such as drinking fine wine, frequenting the spa, and buying an unsettling amount of bishoujo anime figures).
When things don’t go how she expect them to, she gets angry. Like really angry. One might even call her anger rage befitting of an oni. Since her expectations for other people are so high, her tantrums happen very frequently. She often regrets her actions after, especially if she hurts someone in the process (which is usually what happens). That being said, she doesn’t hold herself to nearly as high of standards as she does others. After all, isn’t she already perfect? Or at the very least, she’s undeniably desirable!
Even though she’s vain and egotistical, she’s still good-natured more often than not. She loves socializing, though gravitates towards people she finds attractive (which is basically anyone), mostly because of her ulterior motives. But when she befriends someone, she’s loyal and compassionate… although she expects them to act the same. And thus, being the fickle girl she is, Fuuka’s prone to driving people away. But since she’s always right in her mind, nobody has gotten through to to her that her expectations and ideals are unrealistic. Instead she continues to forge ahead brazenly and passionately, leaving a bloody trail of of broken hearts behind her.
History:
One hundred and seven years ago, Fuuka Hanazawa was born in a rural town in Hisakawa (the name of which she can’t recall). Her family ran the inn, which also functioned as a bathhouse. She was a very curious child, especially enamored by the folktales guests at the inn would tell her. She especially liked the ones that involved love, even if they ended in tragedy.
As she grew older, she became obsessed with novels. She read a lot of books, though was never particularly academic. She only did so for fun. At age sixteen, she began writing love poems. At first Fuuka had no one to address them to, but then she fell in love with a girl.
Chikako Nekoda was a beautiful, intelligent, athletic girl; in short, she was way out of Fuuka’s league. She was two years older than her. They attended the same school. Fuuka idolized Chikako to the nth degree, but Chikako rarely gave her the time of day. She’d frequently leave love letters addressed to her on her desk, but never signed her name.
One day, Fuuka overheard her crush talking about the love letters. When she realized she was making fun of them, her heart began to break. She grew furious with Chikako for belittling her love like that. After Fuuka graduated, Chikako started dating a beautiful, intelligent, athletic boy, Fuuka’s heart shattered.
She had loved Chikako for over two years and nothing had come to fruition. Instead, she watched Chikako become closer and closer to the boy, who treated her terribly. After Fuuka witnessed him hit her crush, she became enraged.
In the middle of the town center, she dislodged a stone brick and approached the boy. In the middle of the town center, she hit the boy in the head with the brick. When he crumpled to the ground, she continue to beat him with it. Over and over, over and over… until he stopped screaming, stopped moving.
She remembered Chikako’s final words to her clearly: “You monster.”
Because those words broke her heart. She turned on Chikako and began to beat her with the same stone she had killed her boyfriend with. After she stopped screaming, stopped moving… Fuuka came to her senses. She fled the town before anyone could arrest her. Only once she had come to a river, she realized she had sprouted horns and claws and fangs.
She had become something out of a folktale -- an oni yokai. Her heart had been marred by jealousy and rage, and she had turned into a monster.
Since that day so many years ago, she’s wandered from place to place, never truly finding someone who understood her demands when it came to life and love. Eventually she found herself in Mistere. It was much different from Hisakawa, but there she learned a lot about the modern world. She also got invested in modern love stories, like the kind found in light novels and manga. Her reading comprehension had deteriorated over time, given the nature of onis, but she still loved to read about love.
Since much of the media she consumed was based in schools, when she learned of higher education and Eldritch Academy, she decided to pursue a degree. In what? Literature. But because she wasn’t the best at school (and because she has no idea what to do after graduation), she’s failed enough classes to warrant her being a college senior for a second year. Unfortunate.
♦ SPECIES INFORMATION ♦
Name of Species: Oni || Ogre/Troll Yokai
Baseline Dimension: Anywhere between five to seven feet in height.
Baseline Appearance: Oni have either pale skin tones or stark red, green, or blue skin. They have two or more pointy horns on their head, sharp claws, and often wild hair. They can take on a more human appearance at will.
Culture/Origin of Species: Said to be descendants from beings of hell itself, the Oni is a fearsome yokai known for their aggressive tendencies and raw power. They originated in Hisakawa but typically live away from other species, preferring to keep to small to large groups of other Oni. Often mislabeled as 'demons' due to their true form and angry nature, even good Oni find themselves misunderstood or outcast from human circles. However, some humans should they live a wicked and violent life will slowly transform into Oni Yokai. Once their soul is beyond redemption, they fully transform and remain on earth to terrorize the living, unable to pass on from old age.
Traits:
• Raw strength. Consistently known to use brute force, Oni are naturally much stronger than any human. As such, they receive +2 to their Strength Aspect.
• Oni take pride in their horns, claws and fangs. These make for good aid in a fight.
• Being strong and durable, Oni can endure more damage than the average species, granting them +1 to their Resilience Aspect.
• Human Disguise. Some Oni choose to transform into humans in order to fit in better with society or deceive some unfortunate soul.
Flaws:
• When in disguise, Oni have trouble concealing the horns, fangs, and claws they take such pride in. Additionally if a horn is somehow destroyed, the damage is permanent and painful.
• Oni tend to be slower physically and mentally than most, causing them trouble in educational settings.
