♦ CHARACTER INFORMATION ♦
Name: Ryan Matthew Arcken // Yong Jun Yoon
Gender: Male
Age: Twenty-Eight Years of Age (28)
Occupation: Teacher (English)
Height: 6'3" (~190 1/2 cm)
Appearance:
Personality: While the true man beneath the mask and mantle remains a far cry from the soul that most may see within the current day, the truth of the matter is that - as of now - Ryan is a rather unapproachable, as well as borderline hostile, type of individual when away from nearly any and every form of professional setting- though only for sake of keeping face within the eyes of his peers, and for sake of avoiding unnecessary attentions to be cast his way, as well. Annoyed and tolerating at his best, while vulgar and insulting at his worst; he holds a somewhat negative, ill willed, and ill minded persona by default as a result of the negativity that dwells within those of his specimen, as well as the fact that he remains one of the most drastic cases of amnesiacs, due to that very fact. All in all, he is a dead man borne again with a second chance at life, though without anything - aside from negative emotions, as well as subtle feelings of familiarity, that are all capable of driving mad - that are capable of guiding him through the basic, first steps of his newfound life. Having been incapable to even bring remembrance upon his own, given name for an extensive while within the past - let alone his majors, loves, and general hobbies without feeling such things on pure instinct, and doing research on his own identity, soon afterwards - he harbors an immense amount of frustration as a result of his highly emotional status; fluctuating with the mere glimpse of certain matters, and thus spurring himself into a subtle rage from said frustration, if not a brief period of isolation, sorrow, or otherwise, as somewhat of a throwback of the feelings that he carried throughout the well majority of his first life.
He is broken, he is lost, and - quite frankly - beneath all of the outward irritation and rashness that he may display at a given time, he is scared. Of what, one may ask, is an inquiry simply answered, as he simply wishes not to die- though that statement and conclusion in itself is a matter that immensely confuses and stresses him out, as well, due to knowing the nature of how he had died. As per the prerequisites of some Fallen Angels, his own death had been one of suicidal tendencies and causes, which is why his wish to live altogether clashes so violently within his mind. Personally speaking, he wants nothing more than to continue living - which is why he holds an almost obsessive and aggressive drive and motivation to remember anything there could be offered in regards to his own identity - but the cause of his death had been one of the only things that he had been resurrected with- even if the knowledge had been bestowed upon him by whatever higher beings that there and, and the event of his demise itself remains a lost fragment of the past, alongside everything else.
Pure instinct, with a touch of muscle memory. These are two of the primary things that drive Ryan forward, for the most part, and are the current causes of what little spurs of memory recovery that he has achieved thus far. Highly instinctive, and highly intuitive; despite hosting little of his memories - with his own name, as well as very few of his hobbies, his life calling, and a couple of other factors being exceptions - he holds a somewhat warped, yet confident ideal and view of how he was, despite how he may act as of now, and is the farthest from gullible. Statements beginning with, "I feel..." or perhaps even, "This feels..." may be prominent with him, as he will be honest with his opinions and thoughts when posed with a question that requires self reflection. While he holds little grasp of the legitimate man beneath the mask of negativity that he maintains as of now, he feels pieces of his prior being grasping at him, and - if anything - this is what he believes, though the fact that he lacks evidence of such matters is precisely why he remains frustrated, and why he remains all the more motivated for remembrance. Faint traces of the man that he once was may surface in the form of pensiveness and very vague and short lived consideration - only to be overridden by his currently subjected and aggressive tendencies, in due time - though they still remain, nonetheless. A lot of what he knows about himself is what he feels. He feels certain things about his personality, though not enough to take it into full. He resonates with certain objects and people, though not to the point where he will remember them outright without proper guidance, or without context given to bridge the gaps for sake of crafting the necessary feeling of familiarity that may come with it. Few things will give him brief happiness. Many things will give him amplified frustration and depression- more so than the norm; both due to the Fallen Angel within him, as well as residue experiences of his past life. Some may make him pensive. Some may even make him regretful.
All of them serve as motivation, so naturally, he remains blindly motivated for one, primary reason.
Saving himself.
Self preservation aside, however, this same instinct is the very thing that has allowed him to learn what he does know about himself at the moment. Naturally, he knows his name. After enough research and resonance with literature, of all things, he has recognized his affinity within English, and has reclaimed the necessary documents and the like in order to maintain a proper job as an instructor, with the knowledge having been tested and proven adequate beforehand for sake of being safe. Music is a major resonance with him; the same being applied towards art, dance, and even gaming, to an extent- with the second of the given three having been discovered through muscle memory of particular dances and past choreographies in correlation with songs heard in passing. He finds solace within the night when he finds himself capable of gazing upon the vast heavens, as well as the stars that accompany them; often gazing upon them with little regards to time, and finding himself lost within their splendor for extensive amounts of time. Despite his brash nature, he finds sorrow when alone for long enough; a distant cry and allusion towards the mild fears of abandonment that he held in the past. These are all interests, hobbies, and other information that he has managed to connect with once more through chance and exposure within the recent past, though more are still being rediscovered through direct resonance.
History:
• Growing up, he held a somewhat uneventful, yet still peaceful type of upbringing; finding himself content with the care between his mother and father, and holding a close bond with his brother. In addition, he was somewhat of a shy introvert; not really interacting much outside of school, partially due to his own preference, and partially due to fear, as a result of being a minor victim of bullying. Whatever small amount of interactions that he may have had ended up shying him away from social contact aside from his family when he was younger.
• It wasn't until he turned about six years old or so that his life shifted its course a little bit, beginning with the supposed death of his father. While - unbeknownst to him at the time - there was no body to be found or properly buried, Yong Seok had gone missing for some time, and was officially declared dead after an extensive time of being unseen by both his loved ones, as well as his peers. As such, he grew up without much of a father figure - with the exclusion of his elder brother, who took it upon himself to take care of him - as well as not much of a mother figure, either, after his father being declared deceased. Needless to say, Crystal took the death harshly, and it had been to the point of a demeanor change; even going so far as to begin lashing out at her sons, and using them as a means of stress relief through both verbal and physical abuse methods. Although Kaiser did his best to shield him away from as much of it as he could, this is ultimately where Ryan's prior sense of low self esteem, as well as his depression, stems from, and had begun to vent it out in the form of writing and literature - in addition to other matters - when he couldn't reach out to Kaiser.
• For a while, Ryan hid behind Kaiser - both literally and metaphorically - out of senses of fear and anxiety towards their mother that only seemed to grow worse as time went on. Eventually, however, Kaiser's relationship with Crystal fractured to the point of irreparable measures, and - as a result - he ended up leaving the household in the middle of the night one night, and leaving Ryan alone with their mother when he was about thirteen years of age, and leaving him to deal with Crystal on his own for over the next decade of his life. On top of imbuing him with a sense of disdain from losing his second father figure, this is also where his fear of abandonment - as well as his tendency to be a little bit clingy with those that he trusts and deeply cares for - was caused from.
• Come age sixteen, and Ryan would've began to take a bit of a rebellious streak against his mother; opening up and running against her will and suggestions in favor of spending time away from home with his friends, and taking the brunt of whatever punishments that she had to offer, as a result. Around this time, he began to form his voice of reason and neutrality; forging himself into a relatively kind, sarcastic, and somewhat stern-minded individual (in the right scenarios) as a result of learning from the raising methods that his mother inherited. In addition, it was also around this time that he discovered that his father had supposedly gone missing from a vigilante mission, courtesy of a small organization that he and his mother had actually founded before either of their children were born. After learning more about this - as well as the fact that even his brother had been apart of it as a hacker before he ran away - Ryan laid aside minor differences with his mother in favor of training for and formally joining the aforementioned organization for sake of following his newfound ideals and morals; trading blood for blood, and finding some form of solace in doing what he could to apprehend other criminals- even if his and his own methods made him somewhat of a criminal, too, despite the fact.
• By age eighteen, he would've met the woman that would've been apart of his longest lasting relationship of about six years until fairly recently by age nineteen; finding solace in her, and managing to confide within her as she did with him. Eventually, he would've even considered proposing to her, but before he would've been able to go through with it, he ended up finding out her involvement within the very same criminal groups that he and his own had been striving to fight against. His morals and affections were conflicted - as he felt a looming sense of betrayal from both the secret and the unlawful activities - and by the end of it, his feelings resulted in severing ties with her, altogether.
• Post-breakup, he would've gone on with his life again for a fair amount of time; making do with living alongside his remaining extended family and cousins - as he would've cut contact with his mother long ago by then, with the exception of interactions through their vigilante and mercenary organization - in between hits, vigilante life, and his surface life as a teacher. Eventually, he would've been met with the reintroduction of his brother once Kaiser had personally reached out to him again, and would've also met his most recent love interest prior to his death in this same span of time, too. While his intentions were to stay single and neutral in regards to affections for a while longer, he began to fall for her - unknowing of the fact that the feeling had been mutual between the two of them - though took care to stay subtle with his feelings for sake of assessing them, as he'd always been slow to form and know of his feelings for another. However, he eventually found out that she, too, was involved within criminal activities, and for both the facts that he felt a familiar sense of borderline betrayal, as well as a conflict within his emotions, he ended up shunning and ignoring her for a fair time afterwards; something that would eventually trail into her own death, and something that he would regret well into his own, as a result.
• Consumed by guilt, regret, and dread from multiple sources that proved to be overbearing and amplified to him by then, he resorted to a means of self harm in the form of burns; hence the distinct scars seen upon his arms and select parts of his upper body. This progressed on for about a month before he eventually took his own life after wallowing in his own despair- and by none other than jumping off of the same building that she'd jumped off of within their first lives as a twisted form of symbolism. A while afterwards, he would've been resurrected into the Fallen Angel that he is now; initially void of all of his memories, though had managed to recover enough to know his calling in both name and profession. He still, however, holds little inkling of himself, as well as those that he loved and cared for in the past, and is still striving for remembrance within the current day.[/ul][/spoiler]
♦ SPECIES INFORMATION ♦
Name of Species: Fallen Angel
Baseline Dimension: Rather than depending upon a set limit or average for frame of reference in regards to the build of Fallen Angels, a given member of this species will simply retain the same attributes and measurements maintained immediately prior to death. Due to this, heights and weights alike will vary drastically between differing Fallen Angels altogether.
Baseline Appearance: More often than not, a given Fallen Angel will host eyes of crimson, as well as hair of some dark hue; most commonly brown, if not black, altogether. However, in the best case scenario, these appearances are subjective to change, and could very much become transitional over time in the event that memory recovery is eminent. Upon resurrection in the form of a Fallen Angel to begin with, individuals will host the aforementioned colors within eyes and hair alike due to corruption and rage within their past and emotions, but the key to unlocking their previous appearance - in relation to their prior identity - will be the recovery of memories in itself. As time goes on, and as more memories are recovered, his or her appearance will begin to take after their original appearance during their first life, or their most favored and accustomed appearance in the past.
Culture/Origin of Species: Fallen Angels are commonly those who are categorized between both the bounds of 'good' and 'bad' within the grand scheme of things. While they haven't quite been judged to be overzealous within their negative ventures - if at all - by Hell and its inhabitants, they also haven't quite been judged to be worthy enough to fully enter Heaven by its inhabitants, either. Often times, a Fallen Angel is procured from the souls of the fallen who generally had good intentions within life, though somehow had it ended through tragic means; ones that are often unnatural, and perhaps even self induced. These souls, all in all, are souls that have been misguided, but despite the mistakes and qualms that they may have endured throughout their first life, have been brought back for one, final chance of personal redemption, as well as to attain a proper sense of judgment from those who may be watching upon them from both Heaven and Hell alike.
These souls are troubled. These souls are misguided.
...Yet deep down before their death, these souls likely had a mass of regrets that pushed them to the extremes.
Deep down, they may not have wanted to die before their time.
As such, the watchers of Heaven and Hell had chosen to give these souls another chance before potentially claiming them within Hell in the event of failure. As a means of testing them, they are said to strip these souls of their memories, identities, and the like; leaving them with not more than the sense of familiarity and nostalgia to guide them, alongside an overwhelming sense of negativity left over by whatever thoughts and regrets they may have harbored prior to their initial passing. At its roots, a Fallen Angel is alone, and a Fallen Angel is lost.
But even a Fallen Angel can be redeemed.
They lead the paths of amnesiacs as a test, as well as a final, attempted means of self discovery, amendment, and personal closure all the same. In the best case scenario, a Fallen Angel may recover all of their memories and inherit their former identities, alongside a sense of the positivity that they had been yearning for throughout the struggles that they had endured as a lost, anguished soul; be they recovered alone, or with the help of those that had happened to either be acquaintances in the past, or even by the simple, good hearted Samaritan. However, in the worst case scenario, a Fallen Angel will travel their second times and lives alone and in frustration; likely as a result of finding themselves barred by obstacles placed before them within their paths of remembrance, and thus becoming more and more consumed by the negativity that had pushed them to the brink within their first lives to begin with.
The former are allowed a chance to properly live once more.
The latter are destined to become consumed by their rage and negativity, and are then spirited away to Hell for the worst.
...It all simply depends on how they choose to handle themselves with their second chances.
Traits:
•Untouchable || Solely due to the fact that they had already died prior to resurrection as a Fallen Angel, characters can't die through natural means; be they through age, illness, or otherwise. +1 Vitality.
•Ethereal Being || Fallen Angels are still ethereal, regardless of corruption, and receive blessings to help them on their road to remembrance. +2 Stamina.
•Heaven's Touch || After being judged by Heaven and Hell alike - and after being declared initially as an angel overall - Fallen Angels hold very extensive holy powers. The extent of these powers could fall anywhere in between healing to positive aura inducement, but is recommended to be specified within a character's profile to properly and more accurately ascertain what the character is capable of doing.
•Hell's Embrace || Similar to their capabilities bestowed with Heaven's Touch, Fallen Angels are also enabled very extensive cursed abilities- but ones that should be stronger than their holy abilities by virtue of being corrupted in some way, shape, or form. These abilities could range anywhere between negative emotion inducement to minor illness inducement (with proper permission from other players), but should - much like Heaven's Touch - be specified within a character's profile to let others know what he or she is capable of.
•Remembrance || Upon full recovery of memories, Fallen Angels are enabled the ability to inherit their prior species from their first life if they so wish to do so.
•All Seeing || Sensitivity to emotion renders a Fallen Angel capable of seeing through a person's words and actions based on the outline or glow of a person's heart or aura; often seen only by them and other Fallen Angels. Emotions are based on this color wheel, and can help see through lies.
Flaws:
•Negativity || Most Fallen Angels are brought back to make amends from some form of intensely painful past, so they're especially susceptible to negative emotions. Longer uses of Hell's Embrace could affect this, as well, due to an unbalance of influences within the soul.
•Amnesiacs || As the tradeoff for being brought back to life Fallen Angels lose their memories, and must start from scratch. They take on the mantle of a Fallen Angel in full; thus rendering them unable to be hybrids of any sorts upon immediate resurrection, as well.
•Limited Time || While it differs between people, Fallen Angels are known to have a certain amount of time to recover their memories. If their memories either aren't recovered, or reasonable progress simply isn't made in a specific span of time, then the given Fallen Angel will begin to fade away. Should a Fallen Angel enter this phase, their memories will become harder to recover with increasing difficulty as time passes on, but is still possible until they recover appropriately and accordingly.
