♦ CHARACTER INFORMATION ♦
Name: Jiyu Kusari
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Occupation: Primary profession is making maps, books and artwork of different locations around the world, works part time as a TA to Theo, since she specializes in largely 'unclaimed/abandoned' locale.
Height: Four foot eight inches
Appearance:
Personality:
Imagine a wide open field of ice on the tundra with nothing living in sight. When one first encounters Jiyu, this is the sort of personality she portrays towards them with absolutely no expectations. Within almost every activity, especially when around others, early on she seems entirely passive as if she has no care for whatever she is partaking in. Forging any sort of stable relationship with this girl is incredibly difficult as she will do anything to freeze others out, as if she doesn't want anyone else. Having been a cold princess for so long? Jiyu actually believes that she doesn't want nor need others, in spite of the reality being much different.
While not much seems to get through to her if someone manages to pick and look a bit beneath the surface, the truth is everything around her is very carefully noted. Even though she will not eagerly dart to partake in another's activities if she is prodded or questioned by someone involved in the activity most times she will quickly partake alongside them. Due to the way she seems to disdain interaction but also be passive towards it, understanding Jiyu's true motives can be difficult to discern and react to. However, perhaps shockingly, her driving forces are relatively simple! Abused. isolated from society, and forced to commit violence since a young age, Jiyu desires to protect and perhaps one day interaction properly with the rest of the world.
Due to her isolation the girl has trouble recognizing the emotions of those around her taking an excess time to process them or consider a proper response. Most times? This leads to her being relatively silent. Most sadly this can cause her to seem unappreciative of those around her as well since she doesn't often show anything emotionally and expects the same degree of hard work from others as she does from herself. Most shocking though is her inability to tolerate others reactions to being let down. While she reacts with snappy sarcasm and such, anyone else responding in such a way with her is met with extreme negativity and will drive her away almost instantly. Showing discretely if one detects this, that she does care for the opinions of others perhaps even more than she should.
When she does manage to form a connection towards someone? Jiyu will often refer to them in social situations leaning back to passivity. Apart from trust this is a defense mechanism derived from her complete near inability to admit when she's wrong or unable to do something. Manipulation is better than admitting less than perfection, and she will manipulate to make herself look competent without second thought. Luckily due to a hard work ethic there is not much outside of social situations, swimming, and herbalism that Jiyu is not capable of at this point.
Lastly, the trust developed by this stoic is extremely fragile and any perceived betrayal can be met with extreme reactions. Honestly, the most dangerous place around Jiyu is in a close emotional connection with her.
History: Born far far away among of a pack of Furry so far removed from civilization that other species were nothing more than myth's, life was never easy for this girl. While most of her kind are peaceful occasionally they would end up in territorial spats with each other and during one of these spats Jiyu's mother bore her on the battlefield where she was quickly abandoned due to being mistaken for still born. Her birth pack? Was driven back, leaving a male of the other pack to find her barely breathing and take her in. However, she likely would have been born better off dying there in the snow at least in terms of her early life.
Shortly into her rearing other species for some reason unknown to the flurry began showing up in their territory in spite of how removed from civilization they were. Jiyu's 'father' disagreed with most of his pack on how to deal with this intrusion as he was among the only few who did not want to simply move to maintain seclusion. Father and his like thinkers left the main pack splintering into a group of six forcefully bringing Jiyu and some other young flurry with them in the middle of the night. Instead of moving further? He brought them closer to civilization each day, all the while forcing the young ones to learn the art of battle. Quickly, due to the vast knowledge held by the species he was able to turn himself and the other adults into soldiers of sorts but he needed more power than older creatures who spent their lives in peace were capable of obtaining. Thus he forced the children to face off against each other and the adults not caring for their lives.
Before long most of the children he had brought with ended up dead and any of the adults who challenged him also ended up murdered. Jiyu, her uncle, and his children were among the last left. Before long? Father had his brother helping him kidnap the hatchlings and eggs of other flurry so that they could train them. As time went on Father became more brutal attacking his own family as if they were nothing, doing everything he could to break down their self worth to rely only on him. It was around this time he used them to start attacking other species that lived near their home to drive them away or kill them trying.
His reign of terror eventually ended at the claws of his own creation when he pushed Jiyu too far one night and she turned on him ending his life. Of course, the rest of the twisted pack didn't take too kindly to their ice princess eliminating the king and it took almost no time for them to begin hunting her. Sometime during the hunts she joined up with another pack, unknowingly the one she had truly been born into. Overtime? They had also grown bloody as her father had but they wouldn't hurt their own and Jiyu felt safe with them. Until, her old pack found her and staged indirect attacks on the rest of her new pack in order to draw her out. While her new pack eventually won, the cost was great and eventually Jiyu left them to fly further trying to escape what she had 'caused' in her mind.
Thus she traveled closer to civilization and away from far, far, far away. Through these years she joined many other packs only staying with them for a short time. Across those days she even occasionally socialized with other species even going as far to fall in love with them sometimes!
Than she came across the pack she currently lives with, just by chance entirely not intending to stop in the mountain range she found them in. Two packs lived on the last peak before getting into the packs hiding in plain sight of civilization. For her own convivence she joined up with one of them not knowing they used to be the same pack. Quickly she found the leader of the side she joined was once very respected but had since descended into madness that splintered the pack between those willing to leave and those only able to stay. The events on that peak eventually climaxed in Jiyu killing the mad king to bring the packs back together, moving them to dorahilns spine with her as one of two alpha's with two beta's right beneath them, the sort of thing she had seen work well before. However, even as an alpha she had a habit of wandering off and is mostly just the peaceful packs line of protection the others seeking her out if threatened.
♦ SPECIES INFORMATION ♦
Name of Species: Flurry
Baseline Dimension: Within their humanoid form Flurry strongly resemble humans in height and width, however due to possessing hallow bones they only ever get up to 100 pounds in their humanoid forms, averaging around 40 pounds. Much more variety exists within their draconic forms as they can resemble any kind of dragon, wyvern or other such similar creature even aquatic draconic species, they do however have rough max growth of twenty feet tall, 1,000 pounds and 10 feet wide due to their need to be able to shift back into a humanoid form.
Baseline Appearance: While Flurry can have varieties of eye, hair and skin colors in their humanoid forms the hair will always share color with their scales. They most often come in lighter, dark blue, black or cameo pallets due to their tendency to live around snow, within high caves or mountain forests needing to blend in regardless of form.
Culture/Origin of Species: Flurry's are easiest described as draconic shapeshifters with an incredible affinity for usage of seemingly supernatural abilities. However, most of their powers are actually biological effects of their life state as they are not half dragon nor half human but something unique to themselves having a completely different internal anatomy. Mostly this species hails from mountainous regions which are very hard for other species to explore and prefer to keep in isolation from anything besides their own kind, a very untrusting breed. While it is mostly lost to history books outside of their society? Flurry's actually used to frequently descend from their high altitude homes to guide travels through dangerous territory or share their vast knowledge of unexplored regions, guardians of knowledge in a way! However, when war began their knowledge was sought for regions they did not agree with, when they began to deny aid to those fighting the Flurry themselves soon became targets, shattering their trust with other species. Thanks to this, they have only recently in the last few years began to even near settlements again.
Traits:
• Frequently spending 24+ hours at a time flying this species has an incredible +2 into their stamina, they can go entire days flying and hang by their tails when done instead of landing on the ground greatly increasing their ability to hide.
• Having a natural affinity for 'magic' these creatures are especially skilled at utilizing their talents and fighting against other's giving them +1 to speed.
• Since they have a need to navigate intense storms and over long distances from high altitude the senses of the species are extremely advanced.
• Due to their aversion to war Flurry and covet for knowledge Flurry have gained the ability to occasionally see a few minutes into the future.
• Being covets of the mind the species has the ability to conjure objects they knows the location of to them, this also works in reverse allowing them to send something back if they know were it goes.
• With strong developed psychic abilities Flurry can even record knowledge in their dragon forms because they are capable of telekinesis up to the users own weight.
• Flurry are legitimately psychic able to use telepathy at their own whim if someone is open to letting the Flurry into their mind long enough to send the message.
• Developed from their telepathy these shifters are able to use powerful mental abilities to affect the minds of others if not fought off, this is largely used to erase memories of people who have discovered a packs location or project an illusion to prevent discovery but not exclusively.
• Able to read the minds of those around them within a large stretch of space, originally developed to help them communicate over long distances while exploring.
• Sometimes an environment is just too harsh to navigate with basic senses, for this purpose The Flurry have developed advanced echolocation enabling them to find their way even when their other senses fail.
Flaws:
• Since Flurry have exclusively lived in high altitudes for such a long time now the species now is prone to experiencing a condition called hyperoxia brought on by low overly oxygenated environments unless preventative measures are taken this measure often being an hour or two each month in a low oxygen chamber.
• Being covets of knowledge The Flurry are more skilled in the use of 'magic' than their physical body's resulting in -1 to their strength.
• Due to living in cold environments this species is prone to varies levels of overheating starting as mild as exhaustion and carrying right up until they stroke from a body temperature above 60 degrees.
• Often when they do come around civilization Flurry's require some sort of dampening device for their senses due to how specialized their sensory abilities have become over the years of isolation, sensory overload is capable of bringing them to immobilization.
• Having incredibly strong mental powers the pain receptors of Flurry are highly sensitive leading to immobilizing head aches if their mental abilities are over used.
