- are you holding your breath again? -
Darkness covered the great bustling city of Mystopolis, the only lights cutting through the night air being either the street laps scattered along the edges of pavement, car headlights on the streets, or the odd building light here and there. But other than that the city was pretty dead. At any other time this may come off as unusual or concerning, but when you take into account that it was almost three in the morning it was pretty normal. The streets that were normally teaming with people were dead silent. Buildings empty and cleared. Every now and again there would be a stray car or yelling intoxicated people wondering around to break the silence, but otherwise it was pretty much desolate.
Which, of course, made it the perfect time to sneak around without gaining unwanted attention.
Well, Astrid was no thief, but if the sonic sword's feedback was correct there was something around here that she needed. A very important something.
The light sound of clicking heels thudded against the concrete pavement of the city, a sound that normally people would pay no mind to. But if they knew who exactly those footsteps were coming from they may be more inclined to turn their attention. She was, after all, not from this world. Not in the sense that she was a bit strange, although that was not completely out of character from her. No, she was quite literally not from this world. A Time Lord, as they called themselves. Beings that ruled over the time vortex and learned from its endless knowledge.
Well, more accurately at this moment she was a stuck Time Lord. The woman was sent to this planet to complete a mission that threatened all of time and space itself, but in the process ended up losing her ship to a direct blast. Now she was alone, stranded on an alien world that was not her own. Little to say, she was a bit pissed at the entire ordeal. Never before had her TARDIS been so badly damaged that she had to go out and gather spare parts herself. The ships that were grown on her planet were actually alive, and therefore could normally heal themselves given enough time. But this time? There was no way the ship could recover by itself. That blasted beam and explosion upon impact with the energy reserve had completely nuked the drive and internal core. It was dying, slowly, but if she left it a couple more days the poor thing would collapse in on itself and be a goner for sure. If only it could regenerate like she could, this would be done and over with so much faster.
But, she would have no such luck. Instead, having to reply on the sonic tracker located within her sonic sword to locate the appropriate parts to help the TARDIS along in her recovery. And on this night, she would find herself right outside of a hospital.
The blinking green light upon the metal cylinder within her grasp was becoming faster now that she was standing outside of the city's main hospital. The blue haired woman's gaze traveled up the many floors, counting about twenty two floors in all. A bit excessive, one would think. But Skaigis was known for its inner battles and conflicts, many which lead to serious injury and the death of their own people. It was a shame, that this planet has not yet discovered that there were more terrifying things among them other than each other... But, having been to this planet's future a couple of times in her travels she knew they had the potential to. Then maybe one day they wouldn't need these buildings, at least not in such high numbers.
Either way, whatever was in this hospital was something she needed for her poor TARDIS. So in she will go.
Walking up to the dim glass doors Astrid pressed her face against them to look inside. It was pretty much abandoned besides a few lights on in the hallways, but with night staff roaming about and patients on the upper floors of course it was never truly empty. She would have to reply on her stealth training for this.
Waiting a few more seconds to be sure no one would come through the main hallway Astrid finally lifted her face from the door, looking right to left before bringing up her sonic sword and holding down the golden button in the middle. A light buzzing sound sounded from the device, but nothing happened. Blue eyes narrowed, a frustrated click of her tongue following.
"Deadlock. Of course, couldn't be easy." There was only one other way in that didn't involve her climbing up the building and crawling through a window. Her thumb clicked the button once more, a long, glowing stick of green energy forming out of it. Thrusting the glowing energy into the glass with a swish of her wrist she managed to carve out a decent sized hole into the door. The rounded glass was about to fall onto the pavement, but with her sharpened reflexes she was able to catch it before it hit the ground. She placed the circle of glass over to the side, propping it against the wall. Clicking the button once again, the energy faded.
Astrid was careful to step lightly into the hole, keep her weight to the ball of her heels to make as little sound as possible.
Once fully inside Astrid flicked her hair back neatly, allowing her sonic sword to continue tracking her parts.
The only question now was where in this building were they keeping alien technology, and why?
Which, of course, made it the perfect time to sneak around without gaining unwanted attention.
