welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

It was a warm winter day, not warm enough to go without rugging up, but nice enough that you didn't have to over do it. The sun was shining and it was the perfect time in Liam's mind to go visit the park. He was always careful when going out in public, he always had to be on his best behaviour in case someone recognised him. The last thing he wanted to do was bring negative publicity to his beloved pop group. And so the neko was currently dressed to impress, to the point that even if people didn't know him, they would still turn their heads. He definitely loved the attention, that much was for certain, but he pretended as if he didn't even notice. He couldn't help a small smirk making its way to his lips though.
It didn't take him long to walk from his hotel room to the park, oh this place brought back memories. He used to spend countless hours here during his time at the academy while studying music and performing arts. His eyes glistened as he spied a park bench without anyone sitting on it, the perfect place to sit and breathe in the clean air created by all the plants around them. Liam didn't hesitate to move towards it, sitting down, closing his eyes for a second as he took in a deep breath. "Ah, lovely." He cooed to himself in a whisper, his magenta eyes opening as he watched other people walk through and enjoy the park as well.

Damn it. Akeldama swore to herself. Normally when she blacked out she could be relatively certain she’d had fun. There’d be a hangover to accompany it. But since becoming a child again alcohol wasn’t was easy to get. She hadn’t drunken a thing. But that didn’t seem to matter as of late, she’d still black out and end up in the strangest place. Feeling this terrible buzzing energy in her body and at her finger tips.
The twelve year old needed to get home. Now. There were ways she knew how to deal with this energy, but this was far too public. She might hurt someone. She walked up to the first person she had seen after coming out of her blacked out memory state. “Excuse me… I don’t suppose you know the area?” She asked, eyes wide in hope that he might be able to help her.

"Oh." Liam blinked as a child approached and spoke to him, she seemed a little odd, but after spending years at the academy he had met many odd people. His magenta eyes scanned her over to see if he could notice any species traits, but alas he was at a loss, she could be anything. Still, he wasn't one to leave a young girl in need of help. "Yes, as a matter of fact I know this area pretty well, are you perhaps lost?" He asked, tilting his head ever so slightly as he spoke, his gentle voice sending out a soothing tone in the hopes to make her feel more at ease.
Even though she looked nothing like her Liam couldn't help but reminded of his adorable little sister. If she were to ever get lost he wouldn't know what to do. Still, the girl had neither confirmed nor denied his suspicions yet, so for now he would wait before offering to take her to her destination.

“Y-yah.” Akeldama said, rubbing at one of her arms. She was wearing a long baggy sweater and a skirt that went to her knees, her similar length hair reaching. “I live nearby the Courtyard by the academy.”
She at least wished she knew what happened while she was blacked out. Her backpack was heavier than it had been before she had left the house, she was just noticing this now. But Akeldama was hesitant to check what was in it lest it be something unsavory.

Anyone can be a star but only the best will truly shine. Liam let out a small friendly chuckle at her response, she was quite adorable. "Well I certainly know where the academy is, I can take you if you wish." the neko smiled genuinely. While he had come to the park to relax, he couldn't just leave a young girl all alone to wander the streets, it just wasn't right. "I actually studied there myself not too long ago." He explained with a small smirk, he had graduated with near perfect grades and attendance. He was in his mind the perfect student at the time, now he was the perfect idol.
So far he had remained in full human form, but maybe he could help make the girl smile, "Do you like cats?" he asked, standing up and preparing to walk in the direction of the academy. Dusting off his clothes slightly and straitening his long checkered scarf before smiling and gesturing her to follow him. As he peered down at her he noticed that she may be a little cold even with her current attire, it was winter after all. "Ah, you're not cold are you?" He queeried as he removed his scarf delicately before offering it to the girl to use if she would like. "Oh where are my manners? I'm Liam by the way, what's your name?" He babbled with a small chuckle at how he had forgotten even the simplest of enquiries when meeting someone new.

Akeldama nodded at his offer to take her to the academy. It felt good to be not to be an adult any more, even if she didn’t know how she had aged down. It’d happened during one of her black outs. But anyways, people were always all too willing to help a little girl out. As opposed to a full grown woman being lost, where it was slightly less endearing. Granted there was the danger of being smaller, but either way she was weak. So it almost didn’t matter either way.
She just felt glad to be feeling like she was in her own body again. She took the scarf gratefully, and nodded quickly at being asked if she liked cats. “They’re my favorite!” But they didn’t tend to last long around her sadly. “My name’s Akeldama.”

Anyone can be a star but only the best will truly shine. Liam's eyes lit up as she mentioned that cats were her favourite, as he allowed his white ears and tail to appear, "Cats, are my favourite too." He gave the little girl a wink after the part transformation was complete, "But I might be just a little bit bias." He finished with a small giggle and tail wag to ensure she had noticed his change in appearance. When she mentioned her name he couldn't help but smile, glad to know she seemed at ease around him.
"Well that's quite the mouthful, but it's nice to meet you, Akeldama" Liam chuckled. It wasn't too far from the academy from the park, but it would still take them ten or so minutes he predicted. "So what other kinds of things do you like, besides cats?" He asked excitedly, learning about ones passions, especially those of children, was always an enjoyable topic to him.

Akeldama gasped in excitement upon seeing his cat ears and almost reached up before stopping herself, the tingling in her fingers reminding her that it might not be the best idea. If she looked real hard she could see her aura. Normally it moved slowly, with a silky smooth golden sand texture. Right now it looked practically like the grains were vibrating.
But he looked so fluffy.
“I dunno. I guess I like to paint. And comics are cool too.” She shrugged, rubbing at her arm again and the hidden surreal scar underneath the long sleeve of her sweater. Back at her home she'd painted quite a few of the walls. Considering she'd been a recluse for awhile now, it'd been all she could do to entertain herself. But she was out in the world again so... Akeldama was hoping it'd go better this time.

Anyone can be a star but only the best will truly shine. Liam looked a little shocked that the girl had pulled herself away after initially seeming so excited to touch his ears. He just shrugged it off, thinking she must have been told it wasn't polite to touch someone without permission or something by her parents. Well at least she was well mannered.
"Oh painting is quite fun, although I'm not that great at it." Liam admitted with a smile, "I'm more of a singer, myself and I definitely understand your liking for comics they are indeed quite cool." he chuckled once more, honestly he was enjoying speaking to the young lass quite a bit. It was a nice change from having to deal with the adult world.
By this point the duo were about halfway to their destination, although, he wasn't quite sure which side of the academy she lived close to, perhaps she was staying in the junior section as an acolyte? Or maybe she just had a home close by. Either seemed viable, however, if it was the former he would be interested to know more about her talent, but it would be rude to ask out right in case he hurt her feelings over the subject. Instead he kept his questions to himself.

“You sing? Can I hear?” Akeldama asked, unable to keep a bounce in her step from excitement. She wondered if he was any good. She’d show him some of her stuff if she saw him again probably. But she couldn’t bring him to her house, or in it. He’d be… A little shocked.
And there were certain rooms that he should definitely not see. Rooms that she had painted in a blacked out state. They were ones that both intrigued and terrified her.

Anyone can be a star but only the best will truly shine. Liam couldn't help but have a small smirk on his face as she asked him to sing, there was nothing in this world he loved more, besides his family of course. Without a moment's hesitation he began to sing the chorus of one of his group's more recent pop songs, hitting every note with perfection without even needing to use his special abilities to impress. He wondered if she would recognise the song, but regardless he was more than happy to show off his skills. Once he was finished singing he looked down at Akeldama with a huge smile, "So how was that?" He asked, waiting to hear her praises. The neko was more than aware of his skills, he had no reason to hide it either. He was aiming to be one of the most famous artists after all.

By god had she missed being around people. Akeldama swore gleefully to herself as she brought her hands up to her mouth to quiet a squee. “Is that what you learned at the academy?” It was a school, it’d make sense that they might teach music. Akeldama wasn’t sure what she’d be interested. So she’d picked whatever sounded interesting. She must have been blacked out when picking half her classes, because frankly she couldn’t remember picking those.
Why in the world would she need to learn chronomancy? Her curse didn’t work like that.

Anyone can be a star but only the best will truly shine. Liam smiled brightly, "Actually, I took combat and talent training at the academy mostly. I did do some performing arts though, and I went to a performing arts school close to my home village once I was old enough as well." he explained gleefully, technically his talent did help with his line of work, but he wasn't going to mention that to her now.
Well this seemed like as good a time as any to ask, "Are you planning on joining the academy yourself?" The neko queried before remembering there was technically a younger division, "Or have you joined already? If so what kind of classes are you planning on taking?" he finished. As they took the next corner they could see the academy not too far away now, once they were in front of it he would ask which way to go for her home.

“I signed up a bit ago.” Akeldama said with a nod. “I’m in Species Studies, Intro to Chronomancy, the History of Mistere, and a couple of others I can’t quite remember the names of right now.” She had planned on taking it easy with the classes this semester, but her blacked out state of mind had apparently had different ideas on the matter.

Anyone can be a star but only the best will truly shine. "Oh wow, that's quite a few interesting subjects. Be careful that you don't overexert yourself." Liam advised gently, he knew studying could be tough, especially if one tried to do more than they were capable of. Ensuring one had enough time to study their subjects properly wasn't always the easiest thing, and he knew quite a few students that would pass out from trying to do too much. As the neko looked around he noticed that they were now standing before the academy.
"So which way is your home from here?" Liam wondered, he was fairly certain she would know how to get home from this point, but he would escort her all the way regardless. It was the polite and adult thing to do.
