welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

♛ CHARACTER INFORMATION ♛ Name: Theo Silversong Gender: Male Age: 23 Occupation: Faculty: Archaeology and Exploration Teacher/Professor for all ages. Height: 5’11” Appearance:Personality:Theo's a bit of a mixed bag, lovingly labeled "emotional". It isn't hard to read him as long as you take the time to look. All thoughts and feelings are displayed on his features and in his gestures, quite unfortunate for someone priding themselves as a sneaky treasure hunter. At first glance, he's just a cheerful, energetic dude that'll do anything at least once. There are times he can come off a little prideful but it's simple bravado. In his world he needs to seem confident, even if he isn't. Theo's the class clown, trying to fill himself up with other's happiness in hopes that someday someone will do the same for him. He's easily distracted by shiny things and is terribly clumsy, making most situations humorous if not difficult most of the time. He'll do almost anything for a laugh and/or to get paid. Theo is mischievous, exuberant, and a touch dramatic. He possesses every human emotion and seems to somehow feel them stronger than most people, causing him to be amusingly animated. Theo is the type that puts on his best face and does his best to stay bright and optimistic, because if he isn't, he may crumble away. The brighter the light, the deeper the shadow. Just behind the joy and silliness is a young man desperately searching for his worth, who has days when the confusing depression is too strangling to brush back into the corner. He just needs someone to believe in him, and until then he'll continue to blunder through life doing the best he can, while unable to shake the hollow feeling in his heart. He has a lot he feels he needs to make up for, but is realistic enough to know he may never be able to. [/font][/b] ♛ Treasure/ shiny things: Theo is absolutely obsessed with with anything that has worth, especially things that glitter and shine. ♛ Sweets: He is rarely seen traveling without a lollipop or some sort sweet packed away somewhere on his person. It provides some sort of comfort when he's upset. ♛ Sleep: He's a habitual oversleeper who can probably snooze through the end of the world. If woken up earlier than his normal, he’s minimally functional and beast like. Dislikes:♛ Thieves: Though at times he might be one depending on the situation, he despises those that take things specifically from him or someone he cares about. A little hypocritical, but he doesn't see it that way. ♛ Spicy Food: He will turn into a toddler if the least bit of heat from spice hits his tongue. ♛ Pain: Though his scars prove he's endured quite a bit of it, he still hates it. Motivations:♛ Riches: Theo craves things of worth as well as the thrill behind the adventure to get them. Once he has them he is reluctant to let go, as if the treasure itself gives him his worth. ♛ Pain: He is weak to it, meaning threat of it is a powerful motivator to do things that will keep it from happening. ♛ Relationships: Any sort of sustainable relationship was difficult for a treasure hunter/mercenary/niffler with others of his kind. There was no loyalty or trust, most double crossing to get what they want. Theo doesn't enjoy being alone and uncared for. Fears: ♛ Worthlessness: To be forgotten or left behind by others, as he often is, makes him feel as though he is worth nothing. But you never see anyone forgetting a rich man, right? It sounds superficial, but even being paid to do jobs gives him enough worth to keep going in life, though he strives for more. ♛ Loneliness: The idea that he could live his whole life without anyone to share his ups and downs with is horrifying. ♛ Darkness: He's literally terrified of the dark. He's uneasy in darkness that has enough light for him to see a little, but if it's pitch black, the fear takes over. A very unfortunate phobia for someone who searches caves and ruins for treasure. [/ul] ♛ SPECIES INFORMATION ♛ Name of Species: Niffler
Baseline Dimension: The human form of nifflers are typically under 6 feet tall and weight in under 140lbs. Their lithe frames are more suited to stealth and flexibility. Niffler forms are small, between 2 and 3 feet long and between 15 and 30lbs.
Baseline Appearance: Any human form variation in features is possible.
In niffler form, they look like a cross between a mole and a platypus, and also possesses a kangaroo-like pouch for concealing stolen items. Their pelts are normally earth tones that can vary anywhere between blonde and dark brown. Occasionally there are ones with albinism or melanism. Any eye color is possible, claw and bill colors also vary.
Culture/Origin of Species: Most nifflers in history, dated even back to the beginning, go largely unnoticed. They prefer it that way. It is unknown where their roots begin, but they spread all over very quickly and easily lived amongst the other species with little trouble other than mischievous hijinks here and there. Things took a more serious and impactful turn during the Ancient War. Nifflers were hired by both sides for their penchant for stealth, caring only about the wealth and treasure it would bring them. While this made them more of a neutral species politically, it also earned them scorn that took many years to overcome.
Niffler culture can be hardly called that. They trust each other even less than they do other species. Due to this, they rarely gather together long enough to form any sort of homeland or customs. Offspring generally only know their mothers, and are all but kicked out of their homes once they are old enough to survive on their own. They are expected to start their travels immediately and with no further help. Despite that, they are a long lived species. Not immortal, but if they are careful, they can live for hundreds of years.
Traits: • Night Vision: Can see in low light as if daylight, but at least a little light must be present. • Skeletal Shift: Their bodies are built for stealth, such as rearranging bones to squeeze through tight places and to move very quietly. This can also aid in saving them from impact damage, giving them +2 resilience. • Spring Legs: They can jump really high to each those tough spots. • Multi-use Claws: Their claws may be short, but they are unbreakable and sharp. This makes them expert climbers and diggers, climbing any nearly any surface and tunneling into places they need to go. • Pouches: In both forms, they possess a highly concealed, magically bottomless pouch around their bellies to hide shiny things and other items. • Swift: Nifflers often need to sneak in and out quickly, whether it's to escape damage or capture. They gain +1 speed.
Flaws: • Shinies: Nifflers are weak against shiny things, often getting them in trouble then they instinctually snag things that catch their eyes. Some don't even notice when they've done it. • Hypervigilance: Wired to always be aware of the smallest details whether it's to search out shiny things or to not get caught, they are easily distracted in all situations and become exhausted quickly, docking them -1 vitality. • Selfish: The instinct to seek out wealth and treasure to keep for themselves is hard to resist. They tend to hoard and don't like sharing, and assume most are out to steal from them.
