♥ STUDENT INFORMATION ♥
Name: Olivia Hawthorne
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Grade: Junior
Dorm: Orchid
Height: 5'2"
Appearance:
Personality: Upon meeting Olivia practically anyone could tell that she was brought as someone who would eventually take over a position of high power. That position being her father's mining company. She is knowledgeable, quick with her wit, and regal. Due to her many business lessons she knows how to shake a person down to their bones with nothing but her words alone, a trait she most likely inherited from said father as he was and still is notorious for being able to shake down the most cruel and wicked of corporate suits. This however does not make her rude or vain. One would think with the rather wealthy up bringing that she might have a bit of a arrogant air about her. But she is from a line of business men, not royals. She knows what hard work means and is not afraid to get her hands dirty if needed. With her lifestyle, and especially after her death Olivia has had trouble making friends or connections with people, mostly because rather than seeing them as actual people she sees them more like investments to eventually be thrown away if they drag her down too far. She used to be able to cover this line of thought with a smile and a laugh, but after her death, it became much harder to do so. Her awkwardness comes out more. She is unsure how to treat people in her current form, and as such will go to great lengths to hide herself away in the library to not be disturbed. This has caused her to become a lot more anxious and sad, as at heart she was brought up as a people pleaser, but without that outlet, she doesn't know quite sure of what to do. Naturally, with her father's line of work and growing up around the mines she sees mythical beasts more as lesser beings than humans, even if she is now one herself. She sees them still working in the mine under her father. Combined with the bullying she received for her company's ways, and it simply adds more fuel to the fire.
In short Olivia is a complex creature. Due to the scarring nature of her death with her memories of the event obscured she is not quite sure who or what to trust anymore. She does not mean to intentionally hurt people with her actions or words, but seeing as how not a lot of people understand her (or at least not that she thinks) she feels the need to be on guard. The ghost is, in all, simply trying her best to grieve for her own loss of life.
History: Olivia was born and grew into the prestigious Hawthorne. Not prestigious in the way that most royals are, however. They do not have a drop of royal blood in them. What they do have, however, is money and power. The Hawthornes run their own business, a business in mining coal as well as other precious jewels and gems, magical or just very high in value. As anyone could imagine with all of this mysterious magic in the world gems and the artifacts they come across while mining are very high in value, and as such as led the family to be extremely wealthy. However, this has also led to some very horrid working habits. Mythical beasts are used more often than humans to work for the Hawthornes, mostly due to their increased physical abilities and plea for more work due to discrimination. Normally, people would think well of them for taking on more beasts. However, though they do higher more beasts they are more overworked for less pay. As one can imagine this doesn't exactly go down well with the beast communities, often resulting in outcries for the family to change their ways. But the Hawthornes merely turn a blind eye. Olivia grew up the the middle of this conflict. Though she didn't exactly agree with her family's ways she also didn't agree with how the beasts went about trying to get freedom, which more often than not led to violence. Still, just harboring the family name alone made her a target despite this. Which, is why when the young girl (who was human at the time) wanted to go to Eldritch Academy, her family was hesitant in case the bestial presence there would not take a liking to her. However, Olivia was stubborn with her demands, so the family eventually gave in and sent her on her way.
It was actually going rather well, her first few weeks of school. Though some of the pure and half breeds stayed away from her she enjoyed learning and honing her talent away from home for a change.
But then it happened. What exactly was it? Well, her death. She cannot remember her death, however. All she can is entering the library, and then a bright white light, and she was standing over herself, looking down at her dead body beneath a massive wooden bookcase that had fallen on top of her. It was from this point on that she felt betrayed, that they beasts had gone too far. She knew it was them, it could have only ever been them with their constant bullying and harassment.
Olivia grew more and more spiteful by the days when no one confessed to her murder, and eventually decided to lock herself away in the library, surrounded by the only thing she cared about anymore.
Knowledge.
Though she tends to hold in her sorrow, when she's alone at night, with no one to disturb her, Olivia will let out ghostly cries to rid herself of the pain of her death. This had led to many people spreading rumors of how the library is haunted by a mean ghost of a girl who died there.
♥ SPECIES INFORMATION ♥
Name of Species: Ghost
Baseline Dimension: Height and widths of a normal human or other species if they are half breeds. But their weight is absolutely non existent. No matter how big or heavy they may appear to be it’s almost like there’s nothing actually to them once they step on a scale.
Baseline Appearance: Ghosts, even in their tangible forms, have a sort of lightness to them. Lightness to their skin, hair, etc. Though not all of them have white hair or skin no matter what they were in their life time they will always look at least slightly lighter in color. This whiteness becomes more of a ghostly blue when they become intangible, their body becoming transparent and misty. All other features depend on a character’s looks, as ghosts can look as normal as any other creature in the world.
Culture/Origin of Species: There is no specific country or region where ghosts first originated from. For as long as there has been life and death on this world, there have been ghosts. It is uncertain of what causes a dead person to become a ghost. Some say if a person dies with regrets they will return to earth to carry out their will. Some say if a death is sudden or traumatic ghosts will roam afterwards, not even aware they are dead. However, these are simply and case by case observations, none of which have been found to be definite. What is known, is that most ghosts are either incapable of moving on to the other side by themselves, or simply do not want to. Some ways have been known to help them move on, such as exercising the spirit by magical means or helping them to accomplish something. Though, doing any of these against the ghost’s will has been known to cause serious side effects such as bad luck, corruption, nightmares, or even death.
Traits:
♥ Invisibility: Ghosts can turn invisible anytime, anywhere. Though people with higher senses are capable of feeling them out, as their Chilling Presence trait is active no matter what. This trait can be toggled on and off.
♥ Intangibility: Ghosts are capable of fading right through solid object and structures as if they were nothing. This means simple melee attacks can fade right through them. This ability can be toggled on and off with concentration.
♥ Chilling Presence: Within a 10ft radius around the ghosts an area becomes chilly. Not enough to cause snow or frost, just to have the warmth around others to fade completely and become unsettling. This causes characters in the radius to lose 1 speed point from their stats for as long as they stay near them. This cannot be toggled.
♥ Floating: Ghosts are capable of floating, as well as flying through the air using levitation. While above the ground their speed stat increases by 1 point.
♥ Possession: Due to having no physical body Ghosts are capable of being able to possess both the living and nonliving. In order to possess playable character ooc permission is needed. Magical items are harder to possess and takes an extra post to do, but not impossible.
♥ Self Energy: Ghosts’ stamina have a natural increase of 1 point.
Flaws:
♥ Concentration: Though intangibility is very useful for a ghost’s needs, it is also their default way of existence. A ghost has to concentrate in order to be tangible. If concentration is broken or they are overwhelmed emotionally things they are holding or sitting on passes right through them. They they are not careful, they may even fade through the very ground they walk upon.
♥ Exorcism Magic: Exorcism magic is double as effective against ghosts, often times even sending them right to the afterlife with no hope of returning.
♥ Healing: Healing type abilities have the opposite effect on Ghosts. If they are healed by anything that is not spectral in nature instead of healing them they are damaged for the amount it heals.
