welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

"How. The hell. Can you STILL be stuck on the letter I?!" Oras was an impatient individual. He was active, and preferred to find the best path towards victory, regardless of what it may be. Yes he had moral codes, but that didn't pose an issue when he could find multiple options. However, when it came to any topic that didn't interest him. His impatience was off the charts. "Seriously, we've been at this for forty five minutes and you barely got past the first few letters! HOW HARD IS IT TO LEARN THE DAMN ALPHABET?!" Anarra had approached him, asking if he could teach her the language everyone spoke. Specifically: So she could read and write. Yet, it was clear to Oras that she was an incredibly slow learner. He wish he knew what he was getting himself into...

Anarra turned her head to face the Atronach, tearing her gaze away from the sheet of paper she'd been looking at. "Considering that I have never needed to learn the alphabet until this point, I would think that my slow speed would be understandable."
Usually the dorm room would be covered floor to ceiling with plants, as the hybrid felt more comfortable in her own environment. Today, however, it was relatively clear of any greenery except for a few patches of grass growing here and there on the floor. She couldn't very well have a lesson being taught in her room if it looked like a forest, after all.
As of the moment she was in her human form, holding a pencil - rather awkwardly - in her left hand. She was still getting used to actually holding a pencil and learning how to write with it. The paper she was practicing on had a bunch of scribbles on it as she wrote the letters over and over again. The first four letters, 'A', 'B', 'C', and 'D' had been relatively easy to memorize. But now that she was past that part she was struggling. She was just beginning to recognize the four letters from her own scribbles. Was she really that slow, she wondered?

"I KNOW!" he said, throwing his hands in front of his face when he did so. "It's just. So tedious, slow and boring I can feel my brain trying to kill itself! And this is the ALPHABET for crying out loud! We haven't even made it to the tenth letter and you're struggling!" He slumped back in his chair and gave a long exaggerated sigh. "I can tell these lessons with you is going to be a really big nuisance..." He rolled his eyes and sat straight again. "Alright let's try this again: The letter you're on is the letter I. This is the shape. And you already know how to say it so cool for you."

Anarra turned her gaze back to the paper, and the current letter she was writing. The letter ‘I’. She examined it, trying to sear it into her memory. Speaking a language was very different from reading and writing it, it seemed. It was much more challenging than she’d thought it would be.
“What about this letter?” The next letter looked like an ‘I’, but it was curved at the bottom. The human alphabet had so many letters in it, many of which she hadn’t seen before. She wondered how long it would take for her to memorize all of them, if she was struggling with the first few ones.

Oras sighed and slumped a bit, trying to calm himself down. When he heard her ask him about the letter L he groaned. Why did he have to go through this? Why did he even agree to this? This was stupid, this was tedious. This was for a friend- DAMNIT there it was. He sighed as he remembered what he was doing this for. "That's the letter L." He turned to look towards the reader with a smirk. "Very famous amongst you Anime fans." He looked back towards Anarra and made both sounds for l. "That's the difference. I makes the eye and ih sound." He took in a deep breath before he tried to continue. "Now! Start writing out the letter I." Since this was her first time writing or drawing, he had to wait for her to learn how to even move the pencil properly. This was a nightmare.

Anarra struggled with holding the pencil correctly in her hand, mimicking how she saw Oras holding it. Or... trying to anyways. How did humans hold things with hands? Gasping large objects was easier for her than holding smaller ones, such as the pencil. It took skill, it seemed, to be able to make more than scribbles with the utensil.
"I appreciate you helping me with this." She said as she slowly brought the pencil down onto the paper, attempting to make the lines somewhat resemble the letter it was supposed to be. "I know this must be frustrating for you. I am finding this to be highly difficult myself. But I agreed to spar with you afterwards, if you remember. Perhaps that will help you let out some of your frustrations." It had been part of their agreement. At the end of every teaching lesson, Anarra would spar with him. That way there was a tradeoff and they both got something they wanted. She felt this was a fair and equal agreement.

Watching someone struggle to hold a pencil right was giving the glacier atranoch a headache... Or it would be if he could have headaches. It was more of an emotional headache if anything, but still annoying and hard to deal with. Eventually she finished her, attempts and put down the pencil. Oras nodded. "That's..... Horrible, but, we're making progress. One day you'll be able to draw a straight line, don't you worry." Encouragement was not one of his strong suits... She started speaking, thanking him for helping her with this problem of hers. Oras hesitated before speaking. Her expression was always so serious, and emotionless so it was easier for him to be with her than anyone else. However, this was still a bit awkward for him.
"Yeah well. I doubt anyone else would be able to endure this." He scratched his head as he said this. She then stated how she knew he was taking this hard, and asked if he would like to spar soon to get the frustration out. He took a deep breath and calmed down. "No... No not yet. Let's at least get to M. That's the halfway point."

About almost another hour later, Anarra put down the pencil, flexing her hand. Having muscles meant that she got tired. Usually she was just mentally tired, and she would start moving slower when night fell or if she was in pain. But in her human form she was physically tired, which was something she was unused to. Her hand hurt from writing and attempting to hold the pencil for so long. And her brain was tired from having to contemplate how to move the pencil, and trying to memorize what each of the letters were. But at least she'd made some progress. Key word being 'Some'. To her, the scribbles looked no closer to the letters they were supposed to be. But perhaps to Oras they looked better than they actually were.
"Would you like to spar now?" She looked up at Oras from where she sat in the chair. "I must warn you that my mind is-" She gave a yawn, which surprised her. She normally didn't do so. Perhaps this was yet another thing she would have to get used to while being in human form. ".... tired."

As a glacier atranoch, he couldn't physically feel tired, but it was safe to say he was feeling phantom exhaustion. He watched as her pencil very badly sketched out the last line on the last M of the last page. The second she put her pencil down he dropped his head onto his arms with a groan, resting against the table. Finally. They freaking finished writing the letter M. They freaking hit the half way point for the alphabet. He couldn't believe it took hours to do so. And what was worse, was that she wasn't even close to writing them correctly. He'd have to give her homework. If he was honest he was probably going to make these learning sessions weekly rather than daily... Or rather he would like to. When she asked him if he'd like to spar he simply groaned. When she admitted how tired her mind was he lifted his head up and turned to look at her.
"Oh good, I'm not the only one. It's hard to make an Atranoch mentally tired, and impossible to make one feel physical fatigue or pain without exposing them to their elemental weakness. And yet my body is generating phantom exhaustion. A stretch would do me good thank you very much," he said as he stood up and did just that. "Do you have any ice around here? No wait, I won't do that. It would be unfair to you if I was fully restored and you weren't."

Anarra looked up at Oras. "We are both mentally incapable of continuing, it seems. I believe it would be best if we stop for today and continue at a later time. I have learned much from you today, Oras. Thank you. Hopefully the next time we meet I will learn the entire alphabet instead of only half of it."
With that, she put the pencil to the side, gathered the papers into a neat pile, and stood up. "Perhaps we could meet next week? Whatever time is most convenient for you."

Oras sighed and put the pencil down, leaning back in frustration. "Probably for the best, though I don't look forward to this. Not that I don't like helping you it's just... Oh you already know," he said as he stood up. "Let me know if you're every up for finishing that duel of ours. It was rudely interrupted and I won't tolerate it being interrupted a second time. Not to mention these stupid students need to know how to fight properly.. Stupid faculty making it illegal to carry defensive weapons and duel others." When she suggested the next week Oras stood up and waved dismissively. "Yeah sure, whatever you want. As long as we duel I don't care."

Anarra nodded in understanding and stood up, showing the Atronach to the door. "We can finish our duel next week, if that's what you prefer. If we do it in the training grounds, I'm sure no interruptions will occur."
As she spoke, the room began filling with plants and flowers again, slowly covering the floor, walls, and ceiling, except her bed. Her room was one of the places she could truly relax and be what she was. She didn't sleep in her bed, as she felt it was unnatural to do so. Instead there was a pile of grass in the corner of the room where she slept. She mostly used the bed to hold any human objects she had, like the books she needed for class, and now the writing tools and paper she would practice on.
As the room filled with plants, she transformed herself back into her normal form, shrinking down until she was 4 feet tall. She had no need to leave at the moment, so her human form was unnecessary. "I look forward to our next meeting, Oras."
