welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

The flurry had been in a bar the night before, curious about the world around her and deciding to throw caution to the wind since she was dying down here anyways. Finding like the woman she had found was not something the alpha had planned, but dutiful to her now developed instinct and ability to lead she did what any good leader would do and made sure that drunk woman got home safely. Of course, how was she being a good alpha dying down here when her pack was back on dorahilns spine waiting for her return which would likely never happen? Anyway, she wasn't going to think about it, especially because she was not thinking about anything at the moment having fallen asleep in one of the trees outside the mansion after returning the woman from before to it.

What a strange woman. Thought Capone as she woke up that morning. She could have sworn that she looked like Jiyu. But surely that wasn’t possible. Capone shook her head, and thought briefly to whether or not Akeldama had any classes today. None at all. Might as well take the whole day to herself then. Akeldama would freak out at having blacked out another day, but at least she could spare the girl this migraine.
Capone set her things in order, getting into some new, nice cloths, and slipping out the back way and into the streets. She didn’t want to be seen merely walking out of the decrepit mansion. She’d put effort into making it seem haunted damn it! Effort… Which she hoped hadn’t been derailed last night.

Sitting in the branches of a tree watching, invisible, she observed as the girl left the mansion which the rumors about were somewhat eerily familiar. To be frank? She had barely been interested until she heard the rumors about this place, something about them rung so nostalgic so it caused this girl to do the same. Jiyu slipped from the tree, levitating her own body to discretely follow the other female away from the structure deciding to wait to show herself until they were somewhere else. Once they were in the street the dragoness flickered into visibility letting her feet touch the ground taking a single rather loud step. That should get the girls attention after last night.

Capone turned around upon hearing the loud step. While it had been a long time since she had been a warlord, and that was only a tiny portion of her existence, she was still attuned to sudden, loud, noises. At first it just seemed like a plan old girl, but as her true sight registered she gaped, rubbing at her eyes.
“No no…” Capone shook her head. “I must be hung over.” It couldn’t be Jiyu. This hangover had to be messing with her eyes. Maybe she was still drunk. But it couldn't be. How would she even get here to this dimension? It had to be a lookalike. A painfully identical lookalike.

Her plan had worked perfectly like most of her strategies did, bringing the other females attentions to her without having to begin the interaction herself. Much of her life could have been made easier had she learned that trick sooner. Blinking she looked forward as the reaction changed from simple notice into something she didn't expect, quickly deciding she wouldn't even try to decipher why the girl was rubbing her eyes. "More than likely, you were beyond hammered I had to help you home." the white haired girls voice was colder than her body entirely static and eerily familiar. Yet something also rung different from the frightened monster who hadn't even been able to trust herself, changes that caused her to be reincarnated differently than any other time, unforeseen events that smoothed out the cracks and filled in the holes once present in her soul. Mostly. "I'm Jiyu Kusari." She didn't need the past to feel at home anymore, no longer needed to rely on others to make herself feel whole again, she could do it for herself. "And I've seen drinking to forget before, how far you went seemed a lot like that, I can actually take the memories if you'd like, my kind excels in doing so. Free of charge, no deals. I'm bored." Plus she was going to die here, so she may as well leave an impact of various kinds. If she was making assumptions instead of using logic because of her deteriorating health due to over intake of oxygen, she may as well go all the way with it and turn into a saint for a brief moment in time. Next lifetime? She would be a killer again, that seemed to be how she had to start out every time though where she went afterward seemed to rely on how much she learned in her current life, for example this time she had not ended up a cannibal.

Jiyu. Surely it couldn’t be. But then again why not? She had found herself in this dimension, and in a far more impossible situation. In the body of a soul which had had yet to be devoured by her, yet was going to be devoured in its future. Its future was her past. This was causing so many damn paradoxes.
“I’m not drinking to forget, I was drinking because I was bored.” It was a half truth. As always the truth was more complicated than she could sum up in a couple of seconds. “But quick question. Are you the Jiyu I think you are? Does the name Capone mean anything to you at all?”

Capone. That was a name she thought would never be spoken towards her anymore, across reincarnations the fact she was born to Capone in some capacity had never changed until this body which was born to another in spite of following much the same story. If she wasn't born to mother? Than it was logical to assume that for some reason mother had not been able to access this realm. Could that have been changed in the time since her birth? But than why wasn't the mistake corrected by the lines of fate it would make sense for the universe to try to correct her having the wrong mother in this world soon as it possibly could. Jiyu had naturally assumed this reincarnation was more true than the others, more of a blank slate in spite of the painful memories behind her that had been recovered when she took up her position as Alpha of her pack.
Something was up here, to be hearing that name again it had to have significance when concerning her. "That answer is tricky." if this was indeed the real Capone her response still remained complicated although the second part was easy, the name meant something to her. Yet, the question towards if she was the Jiyu that this woman believed her to be was more complex. "I remember everything and yes its the name of my mother." she was more comfortable in her dragoness form so she shifted while she was speaking turning from girl into giant white beast. "However, I'm not the same as the last time I heard that name, I'm not broken like I used to be thanks to circumstances at the end of my last life and recently in this one I learned to trust myself." and that was at the very least it was highly possible other things could have been influenced by it as well. "In this incarnation I'm no cannibal, I'm no monster, just an Alpha with a beloved pack that is soon going to have to learn to live without her." walking on her toes she leaped up onto a nearby wall laying down for the moment her broken wing still wrapped up in the best attempt the nurse had been able to pull in trying to heal it.

Normally Capone tried to be more reserved in gestures of affection. But hell. She thought that she’d never see her daughter again. And while in the course of her many lives, she had had many spawn technically… The individual lives of a daemon did not often have all that clear of memories. Being devoured by a daemon and being incorporated was akin to being put into a blender and added to a smoothie- a slurry of other fruits. Or in this case souls.
Individualism did not often survive, as did not many memories. But there were a few memories, potent ones, that clung on with each life.
But she was getting side tracked here. The point was Jiyu was special to her, so the moment she finished talking Capone threw her arms around Jiyu’s neck in an embrace. “I thought I’d never see you again.” She said in a tight voice.

Deamons made sense in how they went from life to life in place to place, at least a lot more sense than her reincarnating in different worlds not even on the same plane of existence nor in the same dimension several times over. Perhaps her soul had been leaping around following after her mother's trying to reunite them and set the way of things right. None of her dam's had ever been Capone they hadn't really felt like 'Mother' so it was possible. Blinking with a brief smile when Capone threw her arms around white scales the flurry extended her good wing to wrap around her mother's back pressing in tightly. "Same." the logic behind seeing each other again was not something she easily understood but she wasn't going to kick it in the head. "I can't tell you how many lives I've been through. I kept seeming to die way younger than the first time." she had been ancient by the time she died that first time, but after that she just kept dying sometimes even before reaching maturity as if every realm and incarnation rejected her venomously. "This is actually the longest lasted incarnation since my very first, the draconic one's seem to last longer. Though I'm broke so if I don't find work and food soon I'll have to resort to theft or illegal activity again." she really did need to find some sort of job, but it was harder to do with her body slowly starting to fail her as the level of oxygen within her rose. 261 words 1225 words total.

“I know a few good fences.” Capone said. Akeldama dealt with most of that side, it being more akin to her old life. Capone had done a bit of stealing herself, but she had been wary of being in control too much. It was important that Akeldama lead her own life. And that it was a struggle for her.
Capone began petting Jiyu’s long neck in a show of affection. It felt weird doing this. But who the hell was around that would really know or care anyways? Jiyu having died so many times was news to Capone, and concerning news at that. “We’ll figure something out to make this one last… Are you sure you tried not breathing for awhile?” Last night was a bit of a blur.

Jiyu had enough suffering her first list when the memories came back she just wanted to live as peaceful of a life as possible when everything was done, especially near the end. If you went looking for trouble by doing things like stealing? You often found even more trouble, so she always preferred to keep her nose clean when possible. Not that she had an easy time doing it or was a good girl, how much she slept around proved she was no angel. Yet, compared to the villain she had once been the flurry was merely a shadow, or maybe she was a light. "I shouldn't need one, though a source for doll making supplies and a shop, that could serve well." she had been good at it in her first life as she had kept trophies long term that way, so it stood to reason she could still make dolls only with normal materials this time. "And even by basic logic that one is flawed since I still need oxygen just much less of it, the problem would resume the second I needed to breathe again." it would be lovely if things were that simple but they weren't. Little did she know that larger hospitals in each country already had the sort of treatment she needed albeit for slightly different purposes.

Capone’s brow furrowed in surprise in hearing that. Guess her daughter was a little less chaotic evil than she was… “That sounds like a conversation for another time. More pressing is your current life. Perhaps we could use a scarf to constrict the amount of air you recieve with each breath or there is some sort of special magical device or technological one. Like a reverse scuba mask. Which gives you less air rather than more.”
With a scuba mask you recieved exactly as much oxygen as it gave you. If you tinkered with it a bit, you could get the low oxygen levels that Jiyu needed.

She knew what mother expected of her, the two had always been so much alike from crime to cannibalism. Yet, she wasn't the daughter that Capone had been so proud of in another dimension, she had made a better life for herself, one that didn't involve her having to mercilessly kill others nor commit any crimes. At one time chaotic evil had felt like the only way to go but she had changed, her numerous lives had changed her. "I stayed completely evil for the longest time, willing to do anything regardless of how dark the action was. but these last few lives, I got out of the circumstances that made me such much sooner and conditions shortly after didn't enable that behavior, so instead of turning out a monster, I've turned out a leader or respected nomad." her slender head turned away from her mother the ear like appendages on the side of her head angled downward. She knew Capone couldn't be too happy about the fact she wouldn't even steal something anymore to sustain herself, would rather work a hard honest day than take what she deserved. "In this lifetime the other flurry call me an Alpha alongside Koda, but even he listens to everything I say as if I hung the moon, since I can fight while he can't. He's great with the children of the pack though and fully understands I don't want to mate with him. Heck, those hatchlings think I'm the whole world and I didn't even have to do anything but be there." she spoke, somewhat trying to explain her new life to Capone even though she had not wanted to explain it to anyone else and had a feeling it was not going to last.
The Flurry glanced over when Capone mentioned the scuba mask, realizing that was actually likely a good idea. "It could work, though I doubt it would work forever it may be useful to stretch out how long I have to let my wing heal enough that if my pack comes down they can help me fly back to our den to finish recovering." at least she hoped that could work out well, remembering how she had changed the Flurry was even more certain she didn't want to die this time. Sure, her next life could be perfect, but it could also be worse than the last and she had so many of her own kind to live for this time. "If I'm gone long enough Koda will send a search party, I just need to be able to last until than." the question was if she really could make it long enough for the other Alpha to send the search party considering everyone was used to her taking several week long flights in the first place. It was somewhat terrifying and frustrating to realize they might not come in time just because she had to live so freely they were used to not seeing her for weeks unless they needed something of her. While she never failed to protect them and serve as alpha? Jiyu always did have problems sticking close.

The way she looked away, how nervous she seemed in admitting that first part, Capone could tell Jiyu thought this might be a deal breaker. If she weren’t some evil being that Capone might not love her as much. In her life as Capone back in that warrior cat dimension she had reveled in violence and torment. Yet had always yearned for more. She hadn’t known because in that life she could not remember. There was only so much a mortal mind could remember after all.
The fact she could access this much of her memories in this vessel was undoubtedly because her body was not fully in it, yet tied to it. The surreal scar allowed her to do what normally would be impossible for a daemon. And something else… But she did not know what forces made it possible for her to possess a vessel she had already devoured the soul of in her time, but had not yet been devoured by their time.
It was strange. And unimportant right now. It sounded like Jiyu had been through quite a few lives. That had a tendancy of changing things. She wondered mildly if Jiyu still considered Capone as much of a mother… She’d never been the overly motherly type. She’d never been overly affectionate or coddling.
Hell she’d even left Jiyu for dead when she was born… She’d just thought. Surely they were all dead when they were born. She hadn’t realized… And because of that Jiyu had been wounded in a terrible way, down to her very soul. But she’d gotten better. Better without the help of her so called Mother.
“Whatever or whoever you are, I’m proud of you.” She normally wasn’t so upfront to say such gushy things. But being ripped from a dimension through forces unknown had a way of making one realize that one’s time wasn’t guaranteed. ”I’m glad you got better. I’ll find a way to get some money to make sure you stay that way. Hell. Maybe we could even do a job together. Some quality mother daughter time.”
Capone snickered at that last part, feeling kinda weird for saying something like that.

In spite of how many lives she had been through? The fairly steady circumstances of her first few years in every single life ensured that Capone never went too far from her mind. However, her mind did wander to what she had done to deserve that misery for the first stretch of her life each and every reincarnation. Regardless of how many times she had been reincarnated she still ended up having to kill many she should have protected, kill and commit other horrid actions without any regard for morality. Even if her mother had not helped with her improvements that didn't change Jiyu's feelings especially since she tended to not let anyone help her anyway in most lives. Several times? Her reincarnations ended because she got into trouble she just wouldn't ask for help with! Heck, Capone was one of the few people who knew that she was dying slowly, only the people who had been listening in that bar knew, admitting it was more difficult than one may expect, she may have been tipsy the night before.
Jiyu listened to her mother speak, nodding slightly as the other woman explained, small smile crossing her face for a little bit. "I have seen jobs before, but being new to civilization expect for sleeping with other species, I have no idea where to get them." normally she didn't need one as her resources were easily gathered naturally and Flurry rarely settled in any location. "If you can find one I'll work as expect for the slow deterioration and lack of flight, I'm just as capable as always even if I choose not to use most of what I learned anymore." she could still kill someone with her mind, but she just didn't anymore, she'd much rather teach young hatchlings to fly for the first time than take away someone else's wings. "Besides, gushy as it sounds, that's actually a nice idea. While staying would be optimal the truth is neither of us have any idea how long we'll be able to stay with how fate likes to fuck us." and once this time ended, they had no way to know how soon they'd be able to see each other again. Heck, it was highly possible they had gone different stretches of time without seeing each other! It wouldn't surprise Jiyu at all if time was different between the worlds they had been traversing.
"Though I should change back, my breed is rare here so it causes a bit of a ruckus when someone realizes what I am." slowly she shifted back to a girl her wings folding in to morph into her white dress. "I'd much rather work than explain what a reclusive flurry is doing in the middle of a city." with that comment she summoned a bound book into her hands and a pen next to her head using her telekinesis to hold both, writing something without looking because her gaze was still on Capone.
