welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Cyn didn't care much for the metropolis of people within the city center. It was much too noisy for her tastes, but that didn't stop her from wandering about. She wasn't entirely sure what she was doing here, but knew she'd need more experience with this place and its people if she were to enact her grand plan. After all, she couldn't hope to accomplish her goal from a dark lab in the sewers alone. She needed more interactions. And that's why she was here. She was hunting for interesting people. Everyone had something to offer her, even if they didn't know it. Some had more than others of course, but that didn't diminish the premise. She may have thought all of these people were nothing but tiny insects on a world that didn't belong to them, but she could still find a use for these lesser beings. She'd need too if she hoped to get her revenge. That much was certain, whether the draconian would've liked to admit it or not.
She wandered through the large crowded streets. She got many stares but never returned them, she just kept walking forwards. Her long tail snaking across the pavement behind her, and her wings folded to her back but still standing quite tall. What adventures could she get up to today, Cyn wondered as she scanned the crowd. The sky was bright and clear...

It had been a few weeks since he arrived at the school, his only interaction with folks being a few that he had met around the school and that one time he had met some when he ventured out of the school grounds for a tiny bit. Back then, he had gone out for an item and so followed directions to a store and back. He didn’t take a chance to explore the city, so today when he went out he decided to do just that—explore.
He made sure to remember the path he took from the school to get to the city so he could find his way back, but once in the city the Nightmare found himself a bit overwhelmed. There were a lot of people and things here. Things he wasn’t used to or knew what to do with. He was curious about all things around him, but at the same time terrified by it all at once. It put the curious Nightmare in a strange spot where he found himself retreating into a quiet shop and watching the crowds from inside for a good chunk of the morning.
He waited until the crowds outside had died down slightly to try again, this time more determined than ever to not run and hide again. People lived like this all the time right? So he had best get used to it. Or at least that is what he told himself though it did nothing to ease his nerves. He would move through the crowds trying to avoid touching anyone at all when unexpected he did just that.
Too busy looking everywhere, but in front of him he would collide with a person walking about and stumble back to keep himself from falling completely over. Flustered he would begin to speak,
“I-I am sor—” he would begin at first almost seeming like he was on the edge of crying…that was until his eyes caught what he had run into and a small gasp escaped him. It was a tall woman with large wings and tail. Something he had never seen before and for whatever reason smelled liked his favorite type of food, but why was that? A bit awed, flustered, confused, and curious the smaller Nightmare could only stare for the time being at the woman before him.

While Cyn appeared to be daydreaming, the draconian felt a sudden bump towards her front. On instinct alone, the dragon looked down to see a boy. She gave him her normal scowl as he stared up at her appearance. By this point Cyn was used to the staring, but this kid seemed a little more interested than most. She arched an eyebrow, expecting him to say something more, but nothing came out of his mouth. Not that it mattered that much though, his eyes were telling the draconian all she needed to know.
"Well? Weren't you in the middle of saying something, boy?" Cyn questioned with a slight venom in her tone. She was only still here to cure her boredom and curiosity. Normally she'd just shove past any onlooker that got in her way, but something about this kid was different to Cyn. She couldn't quite place it, but he had something in his eyes that told the dragon he wasn't like the rest of these clueless mongrels. It was enough to make Cyn cross her arms and wait for a response at least...

She looked down at him when they collided and a rather unpleasant look crossed the other’s face. He suppose he couldn’t blame her for that one though. Even if he had been out of contact with people for a long time, he was pretty sure being bumped into, ran over or any of those other sort of things was ever a good thing. Besides the event was usually uncomfortable for a variety of reasons. That aside, he would take note of her arched eyebrow, but couldn’t get the words to surface as he simply study what he saw before him in a slight daze.
However, her voice snapped him out of his daze. The slight sting of the words caused the Nightmare to blink as he looked away shaking his head a bit. “I…I’m sorry. For bumping into you,” he said softly as he looked off to the side trying to collect himself a bit. Well at least he had gotten that out of the way, but he didn’t try to move away and be on his way. No he hesitated for a moment before looking back over at the woman, still curious. “Umm…Are you a resident of this city?” he would ask not sure where to start with the thousands of questions going through his head. He just knew he wasn’t ready to leave this creature, whatever she was, alone. The looks and the energy she gave off had both sides of this creature curious….and he would not hide that despite how nervous he seemed.

As expected the boy seemed hesitant to speak. Cyn couldn't really blame him for that. Even being downgraded to this half dragon-half human abomination that she was now, she had learned quite early on that she still retained some level of intimidation in her appearance. At least that's what Cyn liked to think. It was entirely possible people viewed her just as the freak she was and went off on that alone. However, this kid seemed more curious than fearful despite his quiet demeanor. That factor instantly stuck out to the draconian, as most would not show the same first reaction.
He asked her quite a funny question after apologizing. Was she a resident? The cruel irony was that she was now, no matter how different she would've desired that answer to be. As the boy asked, Cyn got visibly tense before sighing heavily and looking forwards to the endless crowds of people with foggy eyes and a rather blank frown. "Unfortunately..." She answered plainly before looking back down at the kid. "And you? I'm assuming you live in this sickening, confining, hole of death as well?" She said, not caring if her words offended any patriotic city dwellers. Cyn still couldn't really understand why the humans insisted on building places like this? What benefit was there in being all clumped together in one suffocating place like this? No open spaces or room to breathe at all! It made her literally sick just thinking about it...

She was indeed a strange creature, her features matching that of dragon and yet she was human in form. He had never seen or read about this species before. Huh. He wonder what she was. His other side on the other hand seemed to see the other as something familiar, but why that was the Nightmare had no clue and wouldn’t have a clue until he had room to actually pick at that side of him for answers. An event that was always a tiring one. However that was a thing for later.
Refocusing on the situation at hand the Nightmare would hear the words she said and find himself caught off guard by the way she spoke of the world. It certainly didn’t paint a pretty picture in one’s head now did it? Strange, but not strange enough to keep the Nightmare from making the other wait for long for an answer. Even some of the glares from the more sensitive folk around the city didn't make him think twice about interacting with her.
“Well I visit the city when I need to, but I live elsewhere,” he responded easily enough before narrowing his eyes a bit at the other. “Why do say it is unfortunate you live here? And why do you describe this place as…” he would look up a bit trying to remember her exact words as he folded his arms. “A 'sickening, confining, hole of death?'” Yeah that is what she had said. Anyway, golden eyes would come back to the woman to see what she had to say in response to that.
