He had been through a lot the last few days, but as the storms of life cleared out and the Nightmare’s life stabilized a bit, the Nightmare would find himself working on a different sort of goal in life: Getting used to being fully himself and find a new sort of work and research now that he had miraculous accomplished the goal of figuring out what the beast was and in turn accepting. Well more or less. The acceptance thing was still a work in progress. The new things that the beast gave him both physically and mentally still taking a moment to sink in and work with. Despite that small hiccup though, the Nightmare was more or less functional as he moved on through life seeking to live his best life after the hell he had managed to survive with some help of course.
Pushing life thoughts aside for now, the Nightmare would come back to reality as he lifted another box into the cargo bay of the ship that was being loaded up for something big. He had heard whispers of some sort of party, but he didn’t quite understand why a party need so many boxes of things. Food, fancy items, tables, chairs, and some things he wasn’t even sure of. All of them were mixed together in boxes being shoved into this ship that was looked like it was designed for some sort of exodus. Though for what reason and to where he wasn’t quite sure.
Despite it being winter with snow all around, he saw people and creatures of all sorts bundled and not bundle up making their way towards the ship. All of them seemed pretty well off so maybe they were all going on a long ride on the waters where they had a party? The Nightmare would ponder that and many other possibilities as he continued to work, the work crew kind of sitting back watching him since he was the only one not struggling with boxes or getting tired. He didn’t mind. The whole process keeping him busy for most of the day.
He helped with packing and helped with getting the ship ready to launch. About time he was done, it was early evening and the more nightly folk were starting to pop up. With nothing else to do, he had planned to simply leave; however, the boss over the workers stopped him and said he should stay on the ship and enjoy the fun to come as a reward for his hard work on top of the payment he was going to get. He could’ve said no, but the offer was too nice for the Nightmare to resist. Besides now he could see and take notes on what the heck was actually happening here. See if the party thing was just fun or a cover for something else. This was exciting! Just think of all the data he could gain, but first…he needed space!
The Nightmare moved through the crowds gathered on the ship waiting for it to take off until he found a spot that was mostly free of the masses. He could hear their movement and chatter yes, but at least here he had some space to breath and stare down at the waters the ship sat on. He would watch the waves and the fish that swam by the activity calming his already shot nerves. Guess he wasn't going to ever be a fan of crowds no matter how excited he was. Either way, he was currently calmly watching nature making a note to explore those water worlds at later time when he saw something that didn’t quite look like a fish. Curious, he leaned over the railing a bit to try and get a better look. What was that?
