welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Ozaki was just outside of the massive city of Mysterie, having gotten here through a bit of a lengthy flight. It had taken him about an hour to get here from where he lived, and it had been a bit of a lengthy flight. Nonetheless the vampire had found it nice to get out and about on his wings. He really ought go out flying more often.
As a human kid he’d always wished he could fly. And now here he was, a man stuck in that very same fourteen year old boy’s body, sporting the fangs and wings that marked him as a vampire.
Ozaki took in a deep breath of the woodlands he had set upon. His overall dress could be described as semi-casual, though the black trench coat somewhat countered the look. It was the kind you might find on one of those shady clock salesmen. The kind you wouldn’t be surprised to find something hidden inside.
He had originally came here to get the last ingredient for something he was making. Something that could not simply be bought at conventional stores, and was scarce to find at even the unconventional ones. But when he'd mentioned it to one of his coworkers that he was going to come here they'd told him of a quest to find some Aural Bluebells. So while he was here he might as well get that too he supposed. He knew some other people from the Academy might be arriving soon. With the possibility of a Nightmare coming along. Given that knowledge, Ozaki did his best to try and shove his internal musings to a dark place in his mind where they couldn't bother him.
This of course wasn't entirely successful, but on the surface Ozaki looked chipper and eager to begin the day's work. But to any emotionally attuned creature who could feel and feed of emotional energies, there was the scent of an old heartache clinging to his bones. A grief for which the source was long since gone... But still sometimes the hurt came back in the oddest of moments. That it was prevalent now, given his true purpose of being here, he supposed was not truly a surprise.

The creature would appear from out of thin air drawn to the same forest as before with a different purpose in mind. Unlike the first time where the unknown about the forest was the draw, today the creature had come back to the forest to gain some samples to study. Maybe it could capture some plants or even spirits to observe and take notes on deepening what little it had gained the first time with hard facts. At least that was the goal. Granted the creature didn’t know the forest inside and out yet, so there was still some fun to be had to figure it all out. And on top of this, it seemed that it would once more have a partner in this job.
This time it was the strange child like vampire before that it had taken an interest in when he had put up a flyer about hunting. A teacher versus a student. It made the creature wonder just how things would turn out this time around, even more so when it arrived on the scene to the scent of a delicious snack. Taking laid back steps, the creature would follow the emotion of heartache to the source and while it did enjoy the taste of the snack, the creature would hide all traces of its enjoyment as it looked over at the child it was with.
“So we meet again, Mr. Ozaki. Did you too come out to collect things and explore? Or perhaps you came to ponder more troubling thoughts?” The creature would ask in the soft feminine voice of the lamb as it studied the other a while longer before turning its eyes to the woods before them. “In once more then?” it would ask as the wolf upon its shoulder turned to look at the other for a sign of going on further or staying here for now.

Ozaki would wonder how she had perceived he was troubled, but the fact that she was a Nightmare answered that well enough. He liked to think he had a good pokerface. But if he was to pull one over on her, he would have to do more than look like he was fine. It’d require a complete black out of those emotions.
Which… He’d ease himself into. For now at the very least the student was getting something out of it. Ozaki’s misery could amount to more than just self-pity. He noted her talking to the wolf on her shoulder. “I’m here to collect some Aural Bluebells for a quest… You been here before?” If so that would be quite helpful in helping him find both the aim of his quest, and the other reason he had come here for. He supposed he could tell her his ulterior motive for taking this quest. Given that telling her what he was trying to get would not tell her why he was trying to get it. Granted. Given the fact she was a Nightmare, maybe she wouldn’t care what he planned to do with what he found.
But… He shouldn’t make assumptions like that just based on her race. It wasn’t a good thing to do. “Also if I can, I’m hoping to get my hands on one of those spirit creatures. I hear some of them can be quite violent.”
He had wanted to make it additionally clear by that that not just any spirit would do. It’d have to be one of those violent ones. Or rather, he wanted it to be one of the violent ones. So then he’d feel less bad about his plans.

The Glacier Atranoch had been spending most of his time keeping Inglisse safeguarded. Today however she had asked for a little break in that. There was a long discussion as to why she couldn't just get used to him being there, but in the end she convinced him to put a pin in the discussion.... For next time. Of course their compromise for him leaving her for a little was that he summoned up a few elementals to keep her guarded in place of himself. So for now he decided to go occupy himself. He knew there were monsters that tended to wander the wilderness. He figured he could do the citizens a favor and take a few of them out to pass the time.
So here he was. Hacking away at several massive spiders that had stumbled their way out of a hidden cave system nearby. This... Was boring he thought, as he slashed the right legs of one spider. He was hoping for a challenge, but with the creatures pathetic intelligence, as well as their annoyingly weak state. This was just beyond way too easy. He didn't need much strategy or use any of his power. In fact. He was slaughtering them all from instinct alone. He jumped up as another spider tried to leap at him and landed on it's back, stabbing it's abdomen. He then jumped off and thrust his blade into the multi eyed face of another spider before spinning around to slash another one. Standing around about eleven dead spiders, he walked over to the twelfth one with only four legs and finished it off.
"Should have known there wouldn't be anything dangerous out here. Is this seriously all the civilians are in danger of? They need to stop being lazy and train up for crying out loud." He sheathed his sword and noticed movement ahead of him. After focusing he heard the faint sound of voices. More people? Well, he supposed having a conversation with someone would be better than facing another disappointment like this. Oras began walking over towards the voices with his hands in his pockets. Soon he reached the source. What he saw was an odd sight indeed. One individual was, what appeared to be a humanoid she-wolf with a black mask. And the other was clearly a vampire with his wings and fangs. He wrapped his arms around his neck and smirked.
"Well this is an odd sight indeed. A vampire and, well I haven't figured you out just yet but I will. Don't you worry. Say, you two know any powerful monsters around this area?"

The Nightmare would enjoy the negativity as long as it lasted in the air. However, despite that the creature remained calm and collected on the outside as they simply waited for the answer to come or perhaps not come depending on how open the vampire wanted to be with them. “Aural Bluebells. We have not heard of such a plant before. What sort of quest are they for?” the lamb would ask as they watched the other for a moment and then hearing the question posed, the creature would look back at the forest with a sigh.
“We have been here before with another though our research did not get as far as we wanted,” the wolf would say as the lamb shook its head. So much data it wanted to collect. It wonder if this round would be even more satisfying than the last or would it leave it craving more? Hmm, it supposed it would simply have to wait and see.
As for the assumption that this Nightmare would not care for motives or any form of extra knowledge, one would themselves quite mistaken. For you see, this Nightmare thrived on gathering such things and as such would poke further into the matter when it heard about the other thing that the vampire wanted.
“Spirits can have many behaviors. Violent ones should not be too hard to find.” After all, it could track negativity easily enough to find a spirit of violence if that is what this one desired. But that made it wonder. “Do you seek a living sample for study or perhaps something else?” the Nightmare would ask as its strange eyes turned back to the other quite curious as to what exactly this one was up to that he too wanted to capture a spirit and flowers. It was all very curious to the creature.
On the note of curiosities, another would appear in the form of human that had his hands wrapped around his neck and was smirking. To the voice, the creature would turn to observe this newcomer with a curious gaze before blinking slowly like a cat as it opened it mouth to speak.
“You want to figure us out?” It would chuckle. “Well study all you like. We shall see how well you do.” The creature would begin before tapping its mask a bit in thought. “We did not observe the fields well enough to see if there are any dragons or larger beast in the area; however, if you are looking for something more other worldly. Perhaps this forest can assist in entertaining you, Mr…?” the creature would trail off leaving it open to the newcomer to say his name if he wished.

“A simple supply one for some potions classes. They’re good for enhancing spiritual perceptiveness. If you follow a particular potion recipe you can even use these in eye drops and be able to see people’s auras or true spiritual forms.” Ozaki replied in her asking what the Aural Bluebells were for, perhaps going a little above what she had asked due to the fact he was at least intrigued by the flowers himself.
Ozaki was trying to think of a satisfying enough answer for the lamb’s next question when a strange white haired man appeared and saved him. The primary reason he was odd was the fact that he looked humanoid, yet did not seem perturbed by the fact that Ozaki was clearly a vampire currently. That was normal behavior for Academy dwellers, seeing as there were weirder things than vampires there.
But it could not simply be assumed behavior from someone you just met. “Afraid not. I know that there are some spirits around here that can get a bit violent, but I don’t know how strong they are myself. My name’s Ozaki, by the way.”

Upon the creature blinking slowly and it's initial reply, he observed it a bit more closely in turn. He noticed the black thing around her neck, whom he now realized was more lamb or sheep like rather than wolf, was actually it's own entity. Two seemingly tied in together, the wolf creature almost like a scarf. The wolf entity began to speak after the lamb like creature spoke, stating how he could study all he'd like, and how they'd see how well he did. His smirk grew greater upon hearing the challenge. "Ohohoho, I'm going to enjoy this. If I ask you a question about what you are, you'll need to answer honestly. Or else I'll duel it out of you. In fact, let's put a bet on it: If I succeed in accurately guessing what you are after three questions about your kind, you'll owe me a favor... Both of you I guess I should say, to avoid any loopholes." He placed a hand on his side. "Of course there isn't any time limit on when I can ask the questions, or when I come to you with my final answer."
Oras loved challenges, whether they were puzzles or combat. He just didn't like anything that was annoying, tedious, or had no actually useful result in the end... Like studying rocks. The hell was that all about? The intriguing dual living being continued, stating how there weren't any powerful creatures in the area as he was hoping for and he sighed in annoyance. "Damnit. Of course there isn't anything challenging here. What a waste of time," he said in exasperation. When she mentioned how the forest could help assist him he shook his head. "All it had to offer were some stupid spiders that were no match in a fight. Unless it's hiding vengeful spirits long since waiting for their return, I doubt it has anything to offer me. And you can call me Oras."
When the vampire spoke up he actually mentioned spirits, though he wasn't sure just how strong they were. Oras' eyebrow rose in interest. "Huh, is that so? Maybe this wasn't a waste of time after all. Thanks for the tip Ozaki." The Atranoch thought about this. If he was going to face a spirit, then his talent would be more useful to him. Well, technically that was untrue since his sword was able to affect anything. It was special after all. However it would be more accurate to say he would have a lot more fun if he used his talent instead. If he used his sword on a spirit that was expecting it to go straight through rather than actually cleaving it in half, then that was seventy five percent of the battle right there. Then he remembered the two people standing there. He frowned when he noticed their postures. "...What the hell are you people doing out here anyway?"

The creature would hum at what was told to it about the flower. “These flowers seem like an interesting study,” the creature would say as it tilted its head upward slightly wondering just how many other uses the flower the vampire sought had. Perhaps if they found the flower, it would collect some too for further experimentation and study.
Flowers aside though, it would seem its other inquiry would not be answered for now as another decided to join the group. While his behavior was a bit odd, the creature did not feel threatened by the newcomer at all as it heard the remark back to its comment on studying itself. The wolf would give an amused and fangy grin.
“Three questions you may have and we shall answer; however, we will answer in our own way and let you figure out truths from what is said. If you can figure us out within three questions, we shall do your favor, but if you fail you owe us a favor. Deal?” the wolf would ask as it gave the other a cheshire grin. It liked a game or two, so why not play and see just how well this one did?
Whether the deal was made or not, the conversation would eventually drift elsewhere as both the creature and the vampire gave answers to the questions of challenges around the area. While the strange man seemed to be disappointed at first, the creature did give a nod at the name given. “Akumu Yume,” it would say giving its name in turn. Then blinking it would look back at the forest with a light hum.
“We do not believe this forest is a waste of time. It holds spirits like Mr. Ozaki stated, but we are sure it holds even more intriguing secrets deeper in. Perhaps your spiders were just the welcoming committee, but not the forest true nature,” the creature would say and then hearing the last question it would hum a bit. “Research.” Was the simple answer it would give in turn.

The terms of the bet didn’t terribly seem fair, considering there’d be plenty of other hints along the way other than just the questions. And what kind of favor would he ask of the student? When the student countered with her own conditions Ozaki was calmed a little. Whatever the case, he would make sure that things didn’t get too shady. And yet, despite Ozaki’s suspicion of the bet, he could not help but be awestruck by the man before him.
The pale haired man was easily a foot taller than Ozaki, and radiated pure confidence. And definitely not the fake sort of confidence the vampire managed to pull out of his ass from time to time. This was the real deal. So cool. Ozaki had to get him to come along with them.
But he had to be cool about it. “Yah, and we’ll be hunting some of those spirits ourselves. You should come with us.” He was trying not to sound too eager at the idea, and also checking himself to make sure he didn’t leak any details that might lead to him figuring out what Akumu was.

Hearing the strange wolf scarf half of this creature state how the answers would essentially be. What he was assuming to be riddles, cryptic phrases, and other such things given the way he described them. He gave a laugh and grinned, his eyes sparking with anticipation. "Oh, you are on my good sir... Or, ma'am.. Or both hell I don't know... Yet. Only condition I have with favors is no harming or killing the innocent. Beyond that it's free game." He enjoyed the idea that he'd be playing this game with them. Riddles and mysteries, cryptic words and messages. It was fun to decipher them and figure them out. Little did the being know however, that he was an Atranoch. A species that lived between Surreality and Reality. A species that frequently observed, and sometimes visited both planes. Felix hadn't visited Surrealism himself, but there were many discussions about the dimension, and had observed it from their dimension quite a few times.
When the figure gave out it's name, Felix nodded. "Akumu eh? Nice name. Look forward to beating you and getting that favor from you. However let's not rush this eh? More fun to take our time and enjoy this." When it mentioned how it did not believe the forest was a waste of time, and began going into greater detail as to what it meant. Oras waved a hand dismissively. "Oh of course there are secrets and dungeons here. You may not realize it but you can't walk ten miles without passing one wherever you go. But today I was looking for a group of monsters I could take down to pass the time. I unfortunately don't have enough time to go through an entire dungeon on my own. Not with how my summoner has been like. So for me, in this instance: Yes, it's a waste of my time."
When Akumu told him that they were there for research his eyebrow cocked in interest. "Research into what exactly?" If this was another one of those dumb school projects like learning what kind of stones could be found on a cliff or some crap he may as well be bored to death. When the vampire mentioned how they were going to be hunting those spirits, inviting him to join them he scoffed. "I guess this research of yours isn't very important then? At any rate if I come with you I probably won't fight with you. Spirits are pretty easy targets to fight against, unless it's the soul of some ancient power that's risen back for some reason or another. Honestly the longer you go, the more cliché everyone seems. I wish they could come up with a unique and decent villain for me to fight more often. Though then again, if that happened to often, it would become less fun. Pros and cons to everything. Hence why the world is not perfect." Oras had been at this a very long time. In fact he'd been at it for at least eighty years. He had only returned recently and was disappointed with what the world had become.

Ozaki was wondering himself what kind of creature Oras was, and how old he actually was. He appeared humanoid. But that didn’t mean anything, if Ozaki filed his fangs and claws and put some make up on he could appear human too. There were also simple illusion charms they could be put in place for the first two things, but for those sensitive to such things it implied there was something to hide in the first place.
Sometimes the non-magical solution was the more powerful one. If not the more painful one.
He was miffed when Oras reacted to his words with dismissiveness. So that’s how it was. He wasn’t cool, he was just a jerk… No that wasn’t true. He was a cool jerk. And if Ozaki wanted any friends that weren’t teenage girls he’d have to deal with that.
It seemed either way the man would be tagging along. When he asked what kind of research it was he shrugged, tilting his head toward Akumu. “Its her research.” He grunted. He had been unaware that there was even to be any research here at all. Their factual mission of collecting some flowers would probably seem very dull to Oras. They were important ones and quite valuable but… They were still flowers.
He might find the reason for going after these spirits more interesting, but Ozaki wasn’t going to tell that reason to just anyone.

The lamb could sense unease from Ozaki along with other emotions that seem to come off him of him. Some smelled delightful and others would be less appealing. Regardless of the emotional buffet, the Nightmare was not interested in eating at the moment as it instead focused on the man before them. They would consider the other’s words as the wolf’s fangy grin only widened at the sound of laughter. What a peculiar fellow to want to play games with it. That was rare and an opportunity the creature simply could not pass up. “Then we have a deal,” the wolf would respond back as the lamb nodded. It wondered how long this game would last and who would win in the end. It would be interesting to see as they went along. Even more so when the other seemed just as interested in the game. “We shall see who wins,” the creature would say with a snort before becoming a bit more serious as their attention was turned to the forest and exploring it. It wanted to know about the flowers and what else it could find there; however, it didn’t seem the pale haired man was very interested. In fact he seemed dismissive to the idea. “How unfortunate you cannot find something entertaining. Though, it seems you know a lot about the land and have many things to teach about what is out here,” the creature would say not seeming to be as phased by the other’s behavior or dismissal of its words as it instead collected what the other said about the land for future study. This man…Perhaps it would be good to interact and learn more about him. Perhaps it could learn a thing or two from this one that it might not be able to learn at school. It was certainly something to consider. That aside, the creature would tilt its head at the other. “Your summoner? What are you?” the creature would ask in a soft curious tone. It knew of many creatures that could be summoned, but which was this one and how was he able to be alone without his summoner nearby? How curious. In any case, whether it got an answer to that or not the creature would see the interest spark in the other’s eyes as he questioned her about research before seeming to dismiss it just as quickly as Ozaki asked mentioned hunting spirits and invited the other along. Was nothing interesting to this one outside of games and a challenge? The creature had to wonder, but would push the curiosity aside for now as the it continued to listen to all that was said around it, taking note of Ozaki’s emotional state when the other dismissed the idea of spirits. Heh. Seemed like this one wasn’t fond of being dismissed so easily. Perhaps the other was coming off as arrogant by saying what he was saying? Maybe. Or maybe not. The creature really didn’t care as long as there was no fighting going on from such things. Either way it would seem the research question which the creature thought to be a moot point to explain would be something it would have answer anyway considering Ozaki was putting them in the spot light once more. Gathering their thoughts the creature would speak. “Our research is important us. We care not if it is important to the world. We’ve come for samples to study and experiment on, learn the layout of this place, and help find Mr. Ozaki’s fascinating flowers. It might not be entertaining to you, but perhaps by accompanying us you too can find something that satisfies your craving for a challenge.” And it would also give the creature more time to study Oras and Ozaki as they went along. They both seemed fascinating beings to study. Though it would seem study would be for later as a sound caught the creature’s attention. It was the sound of crying. “Hm?” The creature would tilt its head towards the forest and blink. The sound…it was coming from in there? Quite curious, the creature would blink again before looking at the others. “Something inside the woods cry. We are going to see what it is,” the creature would say and then not waiting for the others it would shift its weight and go right in the woods. Stepping under the cool canopy of the woods, the creature would take in the smells of the place as its ears moved around to pin-point the sound amongst the sounds of birds, insects, and whispers. It would eye a small ball of light hoovering around the flowers, but wouldn’t try to capture it just yet as it instead moved into the forest with a natural ease as it followed the sounds, unsure if the others had followed. The creature would go deeper and deeper into the woods until it finally found the source of the cry. It was a small child with skin as white as snow, hair as black as night, and a dress as red as freshly spilt blood. The child was on the ground with a wound to its ankle. The strange blue blood of the child was spilling from the wound making it hard for the child to move. Being a creature that did not like to see one in pain (even if the sadness there was delicious to smell), the nightmare would move towards the child cautiously as it shifted from its normal form to one of an elegant wolf made from the night sky, moonlight and stars ( click here for reference). Coming closer, the creature would kneel down next to the child and look at the wound before looking over at the frightened child. Using a small bit of its power, the dream would speak to the child’s mind showing her through illusions that the creature only wanted to help out. It took a moment, but the child would relax and nod, giving the Nightmare permission to move onto the next step. Turning its attention to the wound, the creature would reach out a hand and placed it over the wound before concentrating power into it. The power would cause the spot to glow a faint orange as the wound slowly sealed itself up before vanishing from view. Once done, the creature would remove its hand as the child stood up and tested her now healed ankle. Hopping up and down for joy, the child would grin before turning and running away from the area, her red dress shifting into the form of a strange red bird that would disappear into the forest. Smiling a bit, the nightmare would stand up and prepare to look around the area to see if the others had followed; however, as it moved turn a dark form would appear before it as a hand reached out to grab at the Nightmare. Knowing exactly what this was the Nightmare tried to jump back and away, but a second hand would come from a different portal of darkness and catch its wrist. Struggling to get away, more portals opened and more hands would come and grab them. Pulling them back. Back home where it did not want to go, but how? How had the agents of her home found her? Were they tracking them all along and were just waiting for a moment where they were out in the open to capture them? Or had the agents been in the area and caught a whiff of the nightmare when it went to heal child? Still struggling, the creature would get pulled further into the darkness and back to its world. Its fate from here unknown for the time being. Word Count: 1,310 Total Word Count for Akumu Yume: 2,423

This Post: 1116 Total for Oras: 2,553
Upon hearing the confirmation that their deal was on he smirked. “You’ll be surprised what the outcome turns out to be. I look forward to that look of surprise when I win.” Oras was very confident he would succeed in learning it’s true identity. He knew most species in existence, and for those he missed due to the temporal distortion he and his summoner stumbled through, he just read up on in his spare time. In addition he had personal experience with most races and species for a full duration of an entire year. The dark, chaotic and aggressive ones. The calm, peaceful and pure ones. The truly bizarre ones, and many others. While he hadn’t made the connection just yet, he also had knowledge of the realm of surrealism. Of course it was from observing at a distance, not in person, but experience nonetheless. At any rate he wasn’t concerned. With three questions he could easily gather any vital information he required.
Hearing her mention how it was unfortunate he couldn’t find something entertaining he simply shrugged. “Everyone has things that they enjoy, and things they dislike. I tend to not care for anything that isn’t really useful to me. In other words: If the plant does not have any potent traits such as extreme toxins, powerful medicinal abilities, or something like drawing specific monsters over to it. Or it’s very own unique ability, it’s not very interesting.” Oras drew his sword, letting go as he did so. The result was it flying straight into the air about ten feet before slowing to a stop, flipping through the air, and diving straight down where Oras caught the handle and spun the blade around him three times before resting it against his shoulder. “My hobby consists of combat, adventuring, debates, overthrowing corrupted governments, participating in wars, and the research of things that could be of use one day. So something like a flower hunt doesn’t sound as fun to me. That’s all.”
Oras returned his sword to it’s sheath, a smirk resting on his face as he did so. “That being said, I do know a lot about this world and it’s secrets. I’ve been at this career of mine for a very long time, though much has changed in the three hundred or so years I’ve been gone. If you do have any questions of meaning, I don’t mind educating you all. I could probably do it better than any of those ‘teachers’ back at the academy… Well anything of use that is. History would be hard cause of my absence. Geology is out of the question too.” He ran into a student who was supposed to study the difference between one type of rock and another. Oras found this kind of thing very annoying as this information didn’t really help at all. The only thing Oras would be concerned about is their molecular structure. If he wanted to break stone down, if they were made up in a different shape then that could pose as a problem. However when it came to physical damage, stone was stone. Just because it was granite and not default stone didn’t make it any stronger or weaker. It just looked different.
Then Akumu asked him what he was and he chuckled. “I’m a Glacier Atranoch. You know what those are right?” He directed the question towards both of them, but something told him that only Akumu would have a chance of knowing the answer to that. If they didn’t know what his species was he’d just smirk. “Look em up then.” When Ozaki shrugged and told him that it was Akumu’s research not his own, Oras cast a glance to the lamb like creature. “Is that so?” When he looked over to Akumu he listened to her words, holding tightly to what she said when she mentioned how they didn’t care if it was important to the world. That was a very careful choice of words he knew. If they had said to your world, then that would indicate they were not from this world just like Oras. However that one word difference kept Oras from coming to the direct conclusion. It only made him consider the possibility. If he was going to ask any question it would need to be that. Hearing her explain that they came for samples to study and experiment he wondered what the end goal was.
By the time she finished he tilted his head curiously. “Out of curiosity, what is your objective fro these experiments? What do you seek to accomplish by them?” Oras tapped his fingers against the sword hilt as he thought carefully before shrugging. “Eh, I’m already here and it’s not like I got better things to do. If you want I can speed up the gathering bit for you.”
Suddenly he heard a sound and his eyes shot towards the direction they came from. Someone was crying. “I heard it too.” Oras began to follow Akumu, silently drawing his sword in case there was a predator in the area. When they reached the source of the crying, he saw a small pale child. Oras scanned the area for whatever had did this to the child. He was about to use his healing snow to mend the wound, but Akumu already had that bit covered. He looked to Ozaki. “If you have any combat skills stay at the ready. We don’t know what attacked the child and it could come back for it. Keep your eyes peeled. You guard that side and I’ll guard this one.” Oras took his position and expected Ozaki to do the same. Holding his sword out carefully his eyes penetrated the darkness, seeking whatever it was out. Soon however something he hadn’t anticipated occurred.
A dark hand shot from literally nowhere. He could see the figure emerging from behind a dimensional fold. When he saw this his eyes widened and he tried to strike the hand. However it maneuvered around his sword, grabbing Akumu. Damn it! Did it somehow know his blade could cut ethereal beings?! Then another hand shot out from the opposite end where Ozaki was protecting. If he tried to hit it, he would have just phased right through under normal circumstances. Eventually many more appeared and grabbed her as well before they dragged her into the darkness.
“Damn it all to hell! Jeez, those retards are annoying. Well I know what she is at least. Not how I wanted to learn but still.”

Ozaki mentally cheered Akumu for standing up for herself. As cool as Oras might be, he was kind of a douche at the same time. The vampire somewhat wished she hadn’t brought up the flowers, as he had avoided mentioning them due to the fact that he’d assumed Oras would find that lame on default. But what was done was done. He supposed the Aural bluebells had some interesting effects, but given his list of interests it probably wouldn’t sway him to being intrigued.
Ozaki didn’t have any particular questions for the Atranoch, including what his species was. He hadn’t met a Glacier Atranoch in person before, at least not knowingly. However he was quite the book worm and had read a bit about them. He was far from an expert, but it was passing knowledge at least. So Ozaki gave a faint nod in response to Oras’ question of if he had heard of them. If he did manage to snag Oras as a friend he’d of course be more through on researching the species as a whole.
As such was his general habit when he made a friend- or an enemy- of another species. The guy was a jerk, but hell. Beggars couldn’t be choosers.
When the scream echoed out in the forest Ozaki watched his charge take off after it within moments. While these woods might not be too dangerous right now he still wasn’t going to leave his charge alone. Plus, while experienced adventures might not find any trouble here, a child would definitely run into trouble.
Ozaki did as he was told when he arrived, readying himself for potential combat.
He reached for his belt and opened one of the pouches on it, pulling one of his many blood-filled prepared darts out, as well as an iron dagger. Iron was a good choice of metal when dealing with spirit types. He had of course brought his more usual dagger tucked away in his belt, but for now he preferred to use the versatility of his talent rather than dual wielding the daggers.
He had been about to call out to see if there were any bats in the area he could use when the hands appeared out of multiple portals and dragged Akume away faster than he could react.
A few of the portals were still open. Without missing a beat Ozaki started running toward one of them at full tilt. He was not going to stand by idly while they stole away his charge.
