welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

The Vamp Wolf | He’d huff. “What’s so bad about it though….? I would have thought there are way worse kinds of beasts that one could end up being. I’d say that vampires generally don’t have it that bad.” Finding food might be a little harder sometimes, but it wasn’t like they needed to eat daily to keep their energy up, while most other people relied on that. Regardless, every species had its bad sides, as well as potentially fatal weaknesses. With that in mind, there would be way too many people in the world to take pity on for struggling to ‘accept their lives’, wouldn’t there? It wasn’t just about changing species either…even someone born already being a vampire or whatever could for some reason decide they couldn’t deal with their own unique needs. Kind of like Nyx’s case due to how she had been raised…
“….huh? That guy?” He’d pause briefly with a frown before sighing. “Well, not that I know him personally anyway. Wasn’t he always sleeping or something…?” He vaguely recalled hearing about that man, but he had never been awake and around, at least during the four years of his life he had spent nearby. “Well, I suppose that means he has more than one reason to watch you….” He’d shake his head. “I don’t really understand why do some vampires do it though…is there really a benefit in turning poor humans into what they’re probably not meant to be? It’s not like it’s impossible for vampires to reproduce otherwise. They ought to just leave other people alone and spare them the trauma…” |

Ozaki stopped walking when he came across a new unicorn that needed cleaning, starting to lead it back to the stables. Well well well… Yah sure there were worse things to be.
If Ozaki weren’t high right now he’d probably be majorly bummed out by what Sharaku was saying. Being a vampire was easy. Being a vampire wasn’t all that bad. Look at all the cool things you can do. Its the best. You should consider yourself so lucky. Its not that hard. He’d heard this so many times from many people. Ozaki knew there were those out there that struggled with vampirism like he did… They weren’t the majority. But there was some out there… He didn’t want to be alone in this struggle.
The fact he still struggled…Well… He managed well enough… But Ozaki would never be quite right as a vampire. Never quite fit in. So many others found it easy. But he? He just did what he could to get by. It was a horribly lonely feeling sometimes, feeling like you missed out on the memo everyone else seemed to get. Something apparently so simple, so easy, but you couldn’t grasp it no matter how hard you tried. And the very idea of trying was terrifying, for the fear of failure, of the consequences of failure, were too terrible to even move.
But as high as he wasn’t able to much to mull in the the doldrums. Rather than that baggage, Ozaki’s mind would spark with random annoyance as he struggled with what to say. He didn’t expect Sharaku to understand. He’d been born as one… But obviously he had struggled. With acceptance, like Ozaki in some ways. Except the path they had taken in that regard was way different. Sharaku probably didn’t give a damn what anyone would think if they knew all this stuff about him.
Ozaki meanwhile, had learned it was better to keep them at a distance from all this personal stuff. It was easier to hold people at a distance from knowing too much about your past than let them know and be let down when they ultimately just scoffed at what they saw there. This was all getting into far more personal territory than even earlier had been going. Sharaku was so nosy.
The vampire didn’t know what to say in regards to the first part. “Nothing’s bad about it of course. Its just tricky for some people to get a handle on it. Isssh hard to eshplain.”
Some people. Totally not him. Tooootally. Ozaki was basically repeating the same thing he had said earlier. Basically repeating the same thing he had said earlier… And hopefully not revealing anything more in doing so in different wording.
“Well. He’s awake now I guess. Yippee.” Ozaki’s voice was drenched in sarcasm.
When Sharaku mentioned the word trauma Ozaki was doing his very best to both keep a poker face and a poker mind… However you did that. Was he that transparent? Or perhaps it was just the reputation of some vampires tended to proceed them?

Well what was you saying Sharaku? Ozaki wondered in his head. Ah. He saw now. Yah. Sharaku was right. Totally. Even if Ozaki struggled, the blood packets were always an option. Even if they were an option that some of those hoity toity ancient vampires tended to look down on living on exclusively. They weren’t exactly the best tasting, at least not compared to the stuff that came out of people directly.
Yah don’t think of that here Ozaki, he thought to himself. Distract with shiny white unicorns. “Ya, though not everyone has opt- I mean assess, access to those options or knowledge of ‘em at first.” Sounded like a job for an outreach program. That would be an exciting thing to try! It really really would!
Ozaki wasn’t sure he would be capable of it. He’d at the very least have to learn how to bite people without eating them. Literally. And so many things. So much research… Just as well he was the type to like research though. Maybe he could volunteer at a different type of outreach program. Were there any non-religious affiliated ones? Probably.

The temptation to throw a unicorn at this man was strong right now. But they were being paid to take care of these creatures. Not throw them at people unwittingly insulting their current coworkers. Yes. Yes. All of that seemed so obvious to the above-it-all, all knowing Sharaku, didn’t it?
Of course he’d tried animal blood. He’d just found it impossible to keep down. Getting blood from a blood bank was hard when you weren’t even sure how to get into the building in the first place with the limitations of a vampire of his particular variant. You needed an invitation. It’d been hard as a kid who didn’t know shit about life on his own, never mind life as a vampire. “Weeelll well well. Look at the genius over here. He’s got it aaaall figured out.” Ozaki was unable to keep the raw bitterness out of his voice.

The Vamp Wolf | There would be a twitch in his expression at that. As much as he had been trying not to throughout the previous moments, he was really starting to get irritated now. What right did the guy have to act like he almost always had a problem with what he was saying, but never fucking open his mouth to actually explain why and give some reasoning? It was getting on his nerves. Not only did talking to the guy about almost anything feel like pulling teeth, but he also had the gall to talk back like that without bothering to just be direct about what the problem was. He had been trying to at least explain some of his train of thought, despite the fact that he could have left it at his original short statement without expanding on any of it, and the vampire can’t even grace him with one more insightful answer here. He was getting real tired of being the one going in depth with talking pretty much all the time, and getting next to nothing in return. How was he supposed to be aware of what the fuck about his words was bothering the guy constantly when there was no honest attempt to have a normal talk about it?
He’d glare at the man sharply before just snorting flatly. “Am I supposed to care? You’re not going out of your way to give me a single fucking deeper opinion on the matter, or most others to be fair. You can go to hell with your passive aggressiveness if you can’t open your mouth to have an honest discussion about things in the first place. I’m not going to just take that if you act like a sulking insulted puppy and expect me to be okay with being blamed for not knowing you don’t like something I said. If all you can do is judge intentions inside your own head without saying your serious opinions about anything out loud, then you can go fuck off.” He was honestly just about done. Either the vampire was going to man up and actually communicate properly, or he was done having much respect for the man. While he was willing to accept people seeing him as a bit of a jerk to an extent, those who thought that and didn’t even have the balls to say it to his face honestly were bound to piss him off. He didn’t need to be taking that. It didn’t even give him an option to elaborate on things or talk it out, because somebody saw it better to fume silently and not offer any chances for a more mutual understanding to be reached. |

Had he not? Ah. He guessed he hadn’t. Okay. You know what? He was trying to be chill over here and Sharaku kept poking at things that were none of his business. “Guess I will go fuck off.” He said, starting to walk off. He didn’t want to go into details in regards to himself, least of all to Sharaku. “I’m going to go muck out the stalls.”
The unicorn he had brought into the stables attempted to follow him. After a bit of shooing, the unicorn managed to get the gist and walk over to Sharaku, a bit confused as the one who had brought them in here was walking away now.

Respect? Yah. No. Ozaki wasn’t expecting that whether or not he told the truth on this matter. Sharaku had already stated what his opinion was on people who couldn’t manage to figure out the whole vampirism thing all on their own. People like that didn’t tend to change their mind just because they found out they were talking to someone who counted amongst that group.
He very nearly turned back around when Sharaku called him a fragile child. Even through the haze of the sedative he could feel his hackles rising a bit… But no. It wasn’t worth it. It would only continue the conversation he was trying to leave. The longer he spoke to Sharaku the more risk there was.
Respect from Sharaku was a lost cause. It just wasn’t going to happen no matter what he did. So… Better to just leave the dialogue entirely. And so he did, without a word more to the were-vampire.

The Vamp Wolf | Of course. Why’d he even expect any response, right? Frankly, he couldn’t say he did. The vampire wasn’t willing to actually confront him, no matter what he said. Which only helped contribute to his anger, because honestly, people who’d just run away from a problem that could be talked out were the worst thing to deal with. Sure, an argument wasn’t easy, but was it more helpful to walk away and never get anything settled? He’d rather fight even if only because it was better than complete ignorance like that. He wasn’t sure whether the guy even realized how much of a hypocrite he was being in this however. He didn’t even try to confirm whether he had the right idea about what had been said or any of it. And this guy’s so worried about how others would view him and whatever his secrets were? When not even giving another any benefit of the doubt, and just running away firmly convinced he already knew how it was? He’d think worrying about how you come across would make one more mindful towards others and their expression too, but apparently that wasn’t a thought the vampire entertained when it mattered.
He didn’t want to be bothered by this, but the notion was unfortunately unpleasant all around. It reminded him of why he borderline hated people sometimes. He was aware that he could come off strong and even polarizing with his opinions, but he had always believed it was better to speak one’s mind, rather than constantly regret you never brought this or that up when you could have. It was also a good test. Were he constantly adjusting what he said to please whoever he was speaking to, he’d never know where he truly stood with them. If you found out they had a big problem with you because of an opinion of yours, or something you were and turned on you for it…? Technically good to know, because that wasn’t a person you wanted as a long-term friend.
…still, it happened far too often for him to be comfortable with the fact entirely. People were so easy to offend and they’d immediately assume things and not look back to double-check the validity of it. Everyone cared about their own pride and feelings more than they did about finding what the full truth was. All it took was one person unwilling to work on things, and you could do nothing to fix it, because they wouldn’t bother listening. The world was such a messed up place…and he found it almost amusing that everyone had to wonder why he didn’t come off as nice most of the time. He didn’t want to be involved in all this polite hiding shit. He wasn’t even really able to…he was pretty sure it was too noticeable when he didn’t agree with how things were.
Regardless, work was work, and he had relocated himself to a more open grassy area to keep going, so he didn’t need to constantly walk back and forth to get more unicorns. He could just stay among them. Made the job quicker, together with not having to pay mind to anyone while doing it. |

Ozaki worked as quickly as he could on mucking out the stalls. The work was of course on the grosser side than cleaning the dirty stalls. But the company was considerably better… As in it was better to be alone than with that nosy, pushy, were-vampire. Well. Ozaki supposed he wasn’t completely alone. He did have Battigan… Who was currently asleep.
The longer he worked on his own the more he settled back into the calming zen that the injection had provided him earlier. Everything was indeed fine… Everything was cool. After he had finished a couple stalls he looked over to see if Battigan was asleep by now.
Yup. Good. As Ozaki carefully lifted the bat off his shoulder to put him back in the inner pocket he’d been nesting in the bat gave a sleepy questioning chirp, asking if he was okay, and where the other vampire was.
“Didn’t get along too well.” He chirped quietly back to the bat.
It asked again if he was okay.
Ozai gave an affirmative chirp as he put the bat into his pocket, where it settled back into sleep. Everything was fine for now. Just so long as he kept going at a quick pace so that he didn’t end up doing this job with Sharaku again. After washing the unicorns and mucking up the stalls all that would be left to do by the end of the day- which it would undoubtedly be at that point- would be to get the unicorns back into their stables and feed them.

The Vamp Wolf | Well, not that it mattered whether they ended up working together or not. He had his limits too. He didn't intent to really talk with the vampire again. The guy made a choice. Fine. Better not start regretting it, because it was a little too late now. The guy didn't even know yet what it really meant to get a cold treatment if he thought that his previous talking was him being insulting and not caring. The worst was when he did stop trying to reason with a person, because at least when he was making the effort to engage, it meant he was willing to listen were they to have something to say in return. Quite the contrary to some of the impressions, he was actually very good at keeping the silence when he made the decision. It wasn't like he was in any way dependent on his relationship with the vampire being good. Sure, there was the issue of what to tell Nyx were they to remain on bad terms for a long period of time, but to be fair there wasn't much else besides her simply having to deal with it. The guy had never really wanted to work together with him on the things that were happening anyway. The only reason he had been told was because he went out of his way to press for it, and the fact that him knowing Nyx gave him some extra leverage.
It took him a good amount of time to get all the unicorns finished off, but it wasn't all that bad with the distractions gone, plus not all of them were that dirty, making some of them a quicker job. He'd take a glance up at the sky once he was finally done, noting that it was definitely no longer the sunny middle of the day... |

Keep a decent pace, Ozaki had to remind himself of every once in awhile. It was easy to get relaxed on this stuff. Which was great. But he still had a job to do, and it would benefit him greatly to focus on it. Whenever Sharaku finished up they were probably going to have a bit of awkwardness in the room… But oh well.
He could just do his best to ignore that, and if there were further attempts at conversation, he could ignore those too. Everything was chill… The longer he did this and the more of the hang of the job he got, the faster he could go.
Each one was taking about twenty minutes. About the same-ish amount of time that it had taken to do the unicorns. By the time Sharaku had finished the remaining half of the unicorns, Ozaki had finished about half of the stalls. This was… Indeed a considerable amount of work for a two people.
Even with his vampiric strength he was starting to feel tired with all this shoveling. Did all the stablehands just walk or or something on strike? He’d think at least the owners might be out here at least. As long as they stayed next to either him or Sharaku it wouldn’t be that bad. Plus there were no unicorns in these stalls. Bleh.
Seven straight hours of farm work. Even Battigan was awake now… Of course. Given that it was around 7:30 at this point. They should be starting to bring the unicorns in around now. But he wasn’t even done with the stalls yet.

The Vamp Wolf | “….”
Well, now that he didn’t have anything else to do, he had to move towards the stalls. Albeit, he didn’t have much of an intention to go help the guy, unless he for some reason had to or was actually asked to. In fact, he was pretty sure the other would probably be happy to not see him. Still, he did need to keep track of what was going on, given that it was starting to get fairly late, and they were likely supposed to get this done by a certain time. Although, with the amount of work given, he’d say it was more on the owners for not hiring more people, or having other back up plans for this.
Nevertheless, he’d stop to lean against the walls of the stall area, watching silently for the moment. The vampire would probably notice him sooner or later, but he wasn’t too concerned about that right now. |
