Hotel 66(private)

Story time. Okay. Make something up. Maybe something about hiding from The Bloods? No. Best not bring up any names like that. While it was a rule of what happens in Hotel 66 stays in Hotel 66, it was best not to go throwing around such big affiliation names in a gang infested pit. “Lets just say I ran into some trouble with family and had to hide somewhere they wouldn’t think to look. I’d say this falls in that category. How ‘bout you? What brings you here? A regular?”

This was idle small talk, sure. But enough eye contact and he could have the man hooked into his hypnosis. It might be playing dirty and low, but this was as dirty as a place as it got. If not hooked, then maybe get his guard down enough to talk.

This was Ozaki trying to actually be helpful, ironically enough. He had stood back with the last person for worry of messing something up or seeming too comfortable in a place like this. Too worried about what he might look like. But of course… He just ended up looking useless.

The vampire himself knew how he had managed to get the money to stay at this place… And Sharaku was right to be hesitant to know how one in such desperate straights got the money for such a place. In Ozaki’s case it had been by picking the money off his latest kill.

“Managed to shake them before coming here. So they’re still looking… They’re just looking in all the wrong places.” Ozaki let out a small laugh at that. Funny thing is he had been on the run from “family” these past couple of days. According to his research The Bloods regarded each other as family. What a cruel joke.

He had found out their reasons as to why they were following him at this point, but that did not mean Ozaki was particularly keen about them following him where ever he went. “Guess you’ve got a beat on this place then. So tell me. Seen or heard about any blood soaked vampires around these parts?” His tone was low and conversational, anyone who was passing by might think it a casual question. But he was locked in a hypnotic gaze with the man he was talking with, and the question he asked was not merely a request for information, but a demand for it.

“He head that way?” Ozaki asked, tilting his head towards down the hall where they’d been headed. They could at least get a general direction… At the very least they knew that there was a vampire staying here. Could be a complete coincidence and not what they were looking for… But hey, it was worth a shot.

From here on out it might be wise to potentially rely on Sharaku’s sense of smell to track down their quarry. Potentially something they should have done to begin with. But hey… He hadn’t really thought about it until now. Which felt kind of dumb of him. It was an obvious answer now he had… Aaaah. Well. That was of course assuming Sharaku’s sense of smell was sharp enough to track.

Well that was vague as can be, but it was something he supposed. “Thanks for your help, though we should got going.” Ozaki started walking down the hallway, waiting a bit before asking Sharaku. “Do you need a break? We could probably go up to the room for ten minutes or something.” He was assuming that Sharaku was talking about using his talent for so long, missing the context of what the were-vampire had been saying that for.

“Then what is?” Ozaki wasn’t quite sure what Sharaku had meant by it. “Also… I hope you don’t mind me asking… But I just had a thought. Would your sense of smell be able to pick up the trail of a vampire in here maybe?” He hoped that wasn’t some sort of offensive. Also it did smell multiple types of bad in here. “Then again… Asking you to track someone in this might be a little… Awful.”

He scrunched up his nose at the last word, trying to convey that he was meaning the smell.

“Oh… Yah. Its all a weird goose chase really.” Ozaki said, agreeing a little bit. Frankly he could easily imagine a hunt like this taking a span of days, not hours. At least with no true leads anyhow. Broken up in pieces of course, not just straight. They did both have lives after all. Though he was dubious Sharaku would be wanting to tag along with him for that long. Or just in general. Whether they found someone sooner rather than later was a matter of luck. “Fair enough on that… Figured it was worth asking though.”

If today did not turn out successful he’d do a bit of a search online to find out where particular incidents had been happening and see if he might be able to see a pattern by pin pointing them on a map. Maybe Sharaku had tried it, but he didn’t seem like he had.

Either way Ozaki was going to give it a shot, because if someone was causing these incidents they would be limited by whatever method of travel they used. Even if they used teleportation pads… If there were multiple incidents clustered around those areas that would be telling. People tended to have patterns, even if they were trying to avoid having one, that in itself could betray one.

Ozaki looked behind themselves, spotting his own personal “protection” trailing along about twenty or so feet behind. They tended to give him some amount of space, but they were always there. Odds were the other one was waiting outside of the building in case he managed to give her the slip in here. Which could be very possible seeing as he had done it once without even trying.

“They’re behind us again.” Ozaki muttered, looking away from them. Frankly by this point he’d just grown to accept their presence unless he really needed some space. He knew they weren’t going to harm him. They were just… Annoying. But he could live with that.

“I really didn’t, no.” He’d been hopeful. But he had expected it to take awhile no matter what they did. As they were searching right now it felt like an entirely fruitless endeavor. This hadn’t been going on for all that long, but he was already a bit weary from this. Sharaku wasn’t exactly the most optimistic. But he would have to just hold onto some measure of hope. And patience. Hunting wasn’t always a wild roller coaster.

At the note of credibility Ozaki shrugged. “If others notice, they tend to give me a little space, so they might not… And not like they’re going to stop following anyways,. Think of it as extra back up or something. Supposedly, they’re there to make sure I don’t get myself killed in this one thing… I’d imagine that miiight spread into other things.” Honestly he'd just grown used to it at this point.
