In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Doesn’t sound like it if you got beat up by the prisoners… Whoop. Sorrry. Shouldn’t’ve thought that bit. I’m sure you were. Really. Censoring ones thoughts was always harder than censoring one’s voice, and being hopped up on pain medication didn’t make that any easier.
Ozaki certainly wouldn’t mind that, the very position he was in was inviting spooning after all. He just wasn’t… Thinking to outright say that because he wasn’t really thinking much at all right now. At least not in comparison to normal. At this point Ozaki was more than comfortable with Jers. It was really just strangers and people he had never met before trying to get touchy that weirded Ozaki out. Which at this point he did not perceive Jers as. He had fully invited this contact. Abliet he was high, but Ozaki really wasn't worried about that. Or much of anything for tha tmatter.
Some can. Some can’t. Depends on the variant. Mine doesn’t have any particular weaknesses to water. What? You trying to get a chance to see me in a swim suit? Because noooo way man. People be like. Oh em Gee. You survived getting stabbed in the heart?! Crazzyyy. And I’m like. Of course not. Its on the wrong side for that.

I wasn't, I swear but now that you mentioned it, I might be! I was going to suggest that one day or the other, we go swimming somewhere. my kind has limited water manipulation, since we can control plants. There is one individual though, he can really work with water, or could. Im not sure what happened to him but he was on the wrong side of the war. but anyways. swimming is fun, to me at least, and you dont have to strip down either.", he chuckled, embarrassed by the thought.
he valued ozaki and their ... friendship? was that the word for this? he couldn't remember. but he enjoyed the time that they shared these days, it made him feel less lonely and he only hoped that it helped ozaki in some way.

The sensation of having Jers next to him was muted thanks to the drugs, but the knowledge he was there and the pressure was nice. Ozaki could be a highly prideful person, insistent on doing it all on his own. That he didn’t need help or someone to rely on. After all he’d been through the worst of things and survived it on his own, had he not? But really… It was nice to just be able to lean on someone sometimes. A tiny allowance to feel small rather than try and blaze through it all by yourself and insist you had it all handled.
Once upon a time Ozaki would have given anything for someone, anyone to help him. But nowadays it was hard to accept any form of help and not look the gift horse in the mouth. To not believe that there might be some form of ulterior motive.
With Jers though… So far there didn’t seem to be. It was just cozy.
Swimming could be fun I guess. So long as I don’t have to take off my shirt. Everyone either freaks out or stares at my scars. Of course there’s those that just ignore them buuuut… Yah. Just gets old for those who do react. They’re waaaay long since healed. I’m fine.
Thought the man who once more had to bury his head in a bowl to hack out clusters of crystals that clawed their way out of his lungs.

he smiled, hesitantly moving his hand to stroke through the other's hair in what was meant to be a soothing way, "seeing scars ... tends to scare people or rile up the desire to protect the individual with scars. I'm well aware of that part. some do it to feel better about themselves and others genuinely are concerned. it's like falling and getting hurt as a child. your friends are going to help you, but they might also be doing it to look vetted in front of others. your family will worry over you, and mostly be genuine.", he tries to speak before gently rubbing at ozaki's shoulder, wishing that he could take the pain and sickness away from him because he did truthfully care. and it was just the way that he was.
"mmm. if you're alright with it, one of these days I'd like to try my hand at washing your hair? it pays to not have consistently warring ways. I like working with my hands, and you have some really funky hair." he muses aloud, quietly and easily carding his fingers through ozaki's hair.

Then there’s those that are trying to get you to owe them something by helping you, even when you didn’t even ask for it to begin with. Ozaki would think bitterly. In his opinion helping someone else should be done for its own sake, not for any personal gain. But not everyone thought like that. Usually he went through this whole thing on his own. And even if Jers couldn't really do anything to make it better, it was nice to have some one here for it. Snuggles were nice.
At the offer to wash his hair Ozaki’s brow would furrow. Uhhh. Sure? Weird thing to ask though. Though he did like the fingers being run through his hair now, hence why he had said yes at all.

jer gave a low hum of agreement, the dark fae yawning slightly and closing his eyes as he continued the gentle playing with the other's hair, "people who do it just to get something in return are sons of kr'eula. bastards.", he grumbled, tucking a bit closer and letting his eyes fall to half lidded.
"sorry, hah. I just like working with hair now and then and it's just, I dunno, nice to work with different kinds?", he admitted sheepishly in response.

At least you asked. Apparently Mordred thought it was a good idea to cut mine when I was passed out, and didn’t think it was a good idea to try and get blood in me. Crunching numbers and breaking bones! I joke. I joke. About the second part. Mostly. Just sounded catchy. Imma loan shark rawr rawr rawr. Ozaki actually tried speaking out the derpy rawrs with laughter, spewing out more crystals for his efforts. Both his laughter and voice sounded like the dying rasps of someone on their last breath. But it was for the best that he was coughing these out even for it. With any luck if he coughed out enough of these he might be better before the end of the week.
Buh not really. Jist that’s what it sounded like. Just an inventory manager. Mostly deal with numbers. But sometimes they send me out on field work… Get a right proper hunt I do there. Right right. A good hunt is nice. But so’s a good book. Its like a hunt. But for information. Now that's something I can sink my fangs into. Except not really. Mmmmmmmmm. But no no. Biting is baaaad. For me. Anyways. Yah, shouldn't go around biting people.

a fond chuckle left jer, rubbing his friends chest when he coughed out crystals, eyes humorously gleaming, "if you're a loan shark, you're the cutest one I've seen. rawr indeed.", he snickered, eyes warm as he carefully moved a few shards of crystal away so he could snuggle back in again. oddly enough, he found himself craving to listen to another's heartbeat, lips pursed and humming as he laid his head on ozaki's shoulder, feeling very lucky to have this moment with him to the two of them.
biting and hunting. maybe he could set up a course or hunt for him ....

Jers would find that the heart beat of a vampire came very slow and very soft. You’d indeed have to listen hard to hear the prolonged contractions of the muscle, which only beat once every ten seconds or so. I think you mean handsome. Mmmm supposed to be handsome, not cute. In feeling that one of the crystals had lodged in his throat, Ozaki reached a finger or two down it and pried it out manually, dropping it into the bowl. He looked at the blood coating those fingers, mutely fascinated by it in that moment. His throat probably looked like a horror show right now.

he looked away after a bit, closing his eyes and pushing down on the thoughts of interest. no, stop. think nice, play nice. there was no way he should be interested in the blood the other hand on his fingers, but he was, and he was hammering on those desires to lick it off his fingers because it was blood and apparently he was having a hankering for it.
burying his face into his shoulder, he groaned and puffed a breath. "I wish I could do that, reach into my throat.", he chuckled sheepishly.

Ozaki blew a raspberry at the mention of reaching into his throat to grab the crystals, spraying a mixture of blood and spittle on the sheets in front of him. Naturally there was no risk to hitting Jers with this since he was facing away.
That’s a weird wish to have. Thank Hades a genie isn’t here to hear that one. Hehhe… Bet you just wish you didn’t have a gag reflex. A hacking laughter erupted from him, spewing blood and tiny fragments of the crystals into the bowl. AAaaaye still have one. Just… Again. Drugs dude. First two years I had this without these was like… The worst ever.

In detecting Jers disapproval Ozaki would suddenly rise, tipping over the bowl of blood and crystals in the process and spilling them all over the floor. This went mostly ignored by Ozaki as he continued to reach for his phone, turning it on and trying to turn on the flashlight function for it. He ended up having to wipe away some of the blood on his fingers onto his shirt before it could actually work for him.
When he finally managed to get it on he’d turn back to Jers, and pointed the flash light into his now open mouth. It basically looked like Ozaki had been gargling glass shards, multiple cuts in his throat, tongue, and the roof of his mouth. There was also some bruising along the outside of throat where the cuts had bleed internally rather than externally.
Yaaaaah drugs. You think this kind of shit would be remotely tolerable if I had to actually feel any of it?
