In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Well. I’m the last person that’s going to judge someone based on their species. At least. That’s what I try to do. It was important to keep in consideration what species a person was when dealing with them. But he tried to not let that impact how he acted around the person. Granted… With some species that was harder than others. Like Dreamweavers for instance. Dark fae were a species that mutilated themselves in childhood to assuage the fears other species had of them. That's at least what it sounded like from Ozaki's reading of them... He didn't know all the details about who did that, how, or why. But from his perspective. That's what it looked like. Hating a species that would go that far seemed cruel spirited. Like saying that that wasn't enough.

a slight sigh of relief, "that much I know. you do your best to be careful with whoever you interact with. and I'm grateful that you are, but you dont have to worry about us fae. the light fae you would be best to be more careful with. the prince of that species ... is a good man but manners are important to him." he muttered, face showing he was troubled in regards to the prince.
"mhn, our people do mutilate our own voices, yes. just because we are considered 'dark' a lot of people are afraid of us. but the voices are ... hard to get rid of, yes. the pain is not fun either, but we live fairly long, so we tend to forget about it.", he murmurs faintly, pushing back on a sneaky little flirt related to ozaki's earlier comment of being an inventory manager.

Well I’m not worried about you guys. but I’ll keep a note on that prince dude. Not that I’m likely to ever meet him. Then again. Never thought I’d meet the phoenix gods either. But guess who ended up sandwiched in a couch between them. Pfffft. That sounded dirty. But it wasn’t like that at all. Ozaki started hacking with laughter again, doubled over the bowl.
If a species’ is wiling to go that far to appease others then seriously… Other people being judgy about them is just wrong.

A smile on his lips, "that's one of the others things that I find interesting about you. you arent afraid to speak your mind and you stand up for the little guy.", he murmured fondly as he looked away, observing the room again before hammering on the acceptance of that.
"whether we finally make it and redeem ourselves in the eyes of others or not, it doesn't really matter to us. we can't stop mutilating our children or the others ... no. it's not a happy picture. we just wanted to fit in, and if only a few of us can? it's still a big step for us, more of a hundred lives saved than the countless lives lost to get us to such a point. forgive my rambles.", he murmured, pinching at his ear tips in habit for the elongated ears, bothered by the topic but feeling good that he could somewhat speak of it, yet he felt guilt in a vast amount for speaking of such a thing with the other sick.

Speaking my mind? Hah. You have a rather skewed view on that, considering you can see right into it. But then again… I guess I am more prone to speaking up on behalf of others. It was generally not his nature to speak up for himself though… A habit he was coming to see was probably going to need to change given that the majority of his reason for it was gone in realizing the fact. Though changing a lifetime of behaviors wasn’t exactly easy.
Its fine. Ozaki would think at Jers asking forgiveness for his rambles. No need to apologize at all… But what do you mean by “the others?”

He smiled sheepishly in response to that one, chuckling, "for that one, I'm sorry. the others are well ... people that don't like us, or they're our own people too scared to let go of what we have had to do, to pretty much be even noticed and accepted into society so that our own can achieve a level of schooling.", he murmured faintly as his memories traveled their course, licking his lips.
sighing as he encountered a pleasant memory he chuckled softly, "we've almost always had good control of our voices and the power that they possess, but that was before the war began. our children were ripped from their parents on either side, our parents forced to have more children than their bodies could sustain. the original fae do not fare well under such stress but us war children ... we do. what choices did we have? regardless. we are the hated generation, one between the original and those of the children of war.", he sighed, head in his hand as he watched ozaki before smiling, "me and the few 'original' fae left from the war are also considered 'the children of war', so we get an even more fun outlook ok life. alas. if you have any questions, feel free to ask them. you would have loved the way the lands were before we got entangled in war. it was so nice hearing singing in each grove ... wonderful to be able to laugh and sing with my friends ... amazing to be able to tell our stories and legends the way they were meant to be.", he sighed, knuckling away tears, knuckles pressed to his eyes in an attempt to work the knotted emotions back down his throat.

So that explains it. Ozaki would mull over to himself. Why a species would mutilate their own children. A hang over from times past, and hope that such wouldn’t occur again. Wanting society to accept them at such a cost. Ozaki tried to get up but flopped back down on his bed, too worn out to get up. If I could get up I’d… I’d do something. He wanted to comfort Jers somehow. But getting up to replace the blood had taken up pretty much all the energy he had in him.
Prolly not enough but I mean… I’d try.

"perhaps one of these days in a safe place, I can sing for you one of our songs. it would be my joy to do so.", he hums, "so that at least one other has a memory of my peoples stories. at least someone else might find enjoyment in it.", he chuckled warmly, keeping his hand within touching distance, gaze warm with his head settled against his arm.

Yah. I know you are. But that’s not the point. Ozaki managed to reach his arm down to Jers’ hand and pat it. Sometimes its nice to just have someone else comfort you. And I think I’d like that. He was definitely more than willing to hear the songs of the dark fae. He more than trusted Jers.

Jer gave a soft warm breath, "it is good to have someone comfort you.", he murmured, enjoying the simple contact between their hands. his eyes slid half closed, "I like this, being comforted. I really enjoy it.", he murmured with a genuine smile for the first time, his eyes warm and gentle. he wasn't used to bring treated so warmly, so this was very new for him, but the dark fae enjoyed it.
