welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Well then what do you want to talk about that isn’t highly personal anyways? Was Ozaki’s gut response which he immediately quashed down. He had an out. He should take it. Conversations with Sharaku always got some manner of strained. Best to leave him to his evening and not bother him any further. Besides he still had lots to think abou-
And of course who else to appear before him but the very subject of those thoughts. His mother of all people was here. The fact that they were related might be able to be guessed even by a passerby. For even considering the fact she was transparent, their hair color looked like it may be similar. As well as the small but perhaps more telling things- like the fact they had the same nose for example.
~~~~~ Dahla knew Yuuki had said that he would return another day. That it was just he needed time to think. But… She didn’t want to just leave things like they had. They ended as well as they could but… She was worried. Then she noticed that he had left behind the family album. She could return it to him next time he came over… Or she could find him and return it now… Yah. That sounded like the better idea.
He’d gone out all alone in a state like that. She just wanted to check to see how he was doing after all that. The family album had been just a convenient excuse. Dahla was glad Dawn was willing to help her. With her aide finding Yuuki had been as simple enough. It was only once he actually stayed still in one place for long enough that teleporting her over was even worth trying.
So here she was. “Sorry to appear so suddenly Yuuki, but you forgot this back at Dawn’s place.” She said handing over the blue covered family album over to her son. Perhaps teleporting right in front of him hadn’t been the best idea… She appeared to have given him a bit of a fright.
The Vamp Wolf | Well, as much as he sort of wished for any kind of response, the vampire was definitely not known for delivering on that. It probably didn’t even matter as to what he chose to say, as none of it would get him a proper reply. Then again, it wasn’t like he had anything better to try either, because staying silent himself would be even less likely to make a conversation magically happen for once.
While a conversation wouldn’t though, other things seemingly did decide they wanted to magically happen instead. Not entirely certain as to what he was looking at, Sharaku would proceed to stare blankly at the display, blinking a couple times. Well okay, he could recognize a ghost alright, but this came rather out of nowhere and with absolutely not context on his side, making it a little tricky to process. Ummm…. |
Ozaki really hadn’t left this behind on accident. But it was here in his hands now so he’d be forced to say, “Thanks Mom.” He both was glad to have this back and a little repelled by it. He had wanted this for many years. But the state it was in… Was a little… Serial killer-y. Thus having it in his possession made him both immensely happy and creeped out by the fact that at some point Yuuto had thought it would be a good idea to scratch out every picture with his face in it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Of course.” She said, putting a hand on his head and ruffling the hair there, then spotting Sharaku behind him. She tilted her head in curiosity at his shirtless state, hazel eyes not subtle at all as they traced the lines of his scars. “Looks like he either got mugged or won a game of strip poker.” She wasn’t judging that by his scars- considering they were a sign of long since healed wounds. Those were just the two initial thoughts she had upon seeing him.
“Friend of yours?” She asked between the two of them. It was a bit of a stretch. But she hadn’t met any of Ozaki’s friends yet. Thusly she was dearly hoping to change that.

The Vamp Wolf | Ooooookayyy? “I wish it was something as entertaining as that…..”, he’d grumble without really thinking about it. Not that he’d let a mugger get away with something as stupid as that, were it to ever happen, but it would be more exciting than the current reality of the matter. Regardless, he was sort of taken aback by the situation, responding more on auto-pilot than anything else. Clearly, fate was just trying to confuse him even more. He almost found himself mentally sighing at his weird luck, but was quite efficiently interrupted by the…rather direct questioning.
Shifting in his spot a little, he’d cross his arms over his chest, a mild frown crossing his face. “I’m not certain that’d be an accurate definition, considering that friends normally actually talk to each other.” Which did not apply to them very well. To be honest though? He never gave it much thought at all. He did not think about labels when it came to people, unless he was flat out asked about his opinion on them. If he had to be truthful about it however, he could hardly claim they were a pair of friends, for that would give a very different image of them than what the reality was. |

“Yah. We’re more like people who… Occasionally bump into each other.” Deciding he could probably wager telling her more, he went onto say. “He tends to ask a lot of personal questions that are none of his business.”
So they weren’t friends. But based on that they did seem to know each other. They were likely least acquaintances. She had hoped that after Yuuki was done talking he might go to a friend. Dahla could of course tell their time together, while amicable, had been a strain on him. As a poltergeist she first hand knew how important it was to have someone to talk to. If you just held things in all the time things could get messy…. And from how Yuuki had been acting during their time together it seemed like he had been holding onto things for a verrrry long time.
Friend or not this was the first place Ozaki had actually stopped for any measure of time according to Dawn’s spell. That had to mean something, did it? “Well if he’s asking those questions don’t you reckon that’s because he’s interested in getting to know you? Its not necessarily a bad thing.”

The Vamp Wolf | Glancing between the two of them, he’d wear a somewhat blank expression, the direction where this was heading being a little troublesome. No, it wasn’t exactly that he wanted to get to know the guy. Well, it wasn’t that he didn’t either, but it was not the main reason behind his choice to ask questions. He couldn’t care less about such things half the time, but it was quite hard to focus on anything else when the vampire was always stuck having a crisis over said personal matters. He’d snort. “And you’re the one always brooding over some personal issue whenever we happen to meet. I don’t think me trying to comment on how nice the weather is would get you to talk to me any better when you’re having moods like that, I’m pretty sure.” They didn’t exactly have anything in common when it came to more casual things, and when Ozaki was in his bothered mode, no normal conversation lasted well regardless of that. Sadly, he was not the most patient man, and he did not enjoy pulling teeth just to have a decent talk with a person about….well, frankly anything.
“Well, I know people generally don’t like me anyway, so what I’m interested in doesn’t particularly matter a whole lot, I suppose.” He’d shrug vaguely with that comment. Usually, they were too busy accusing him of hurting their feelings or something of that effect… |

Ryse yawned, rubbing her eyes as she walked through the city. She was tired, but sleep was eluding her again. This seemed to be the usual pattern now; being tired but unable to fall asleep. She mental note in her mind to start going to bed early. That way even if she woke up in the middle of the night it wouldn’t affect her sleep cycle. But right now, since she wasn’t able to sleep, she’d decided to take a walk. Maybe the fresh air would clear her head.
Rounding the corner, however, she stopped as she saw two familiar faces, and one she didn’t recognize. Not that she’d ever met any ghosts before. “Hey Sharaku. Hi Mr. Ozaki.” She greeted the both of them as she neared them. She wasn’t surprised to see them up at night, both of them being nocturnal creatures. As she approached Ozaki, she warily looked at the ghost. It didn’t look hostile, but there wasn’t harm in being cautious.
Seeing the vampire, it made something nag at her brain. What was it? Oh. That’s right.
Reaching into her jacket pocket, she pulled out the dvd disk and held it out to him. The cover read Yoga for Beginners. “You said you wanted to try it, right? I was going to give it to you when I saw you again, and... well, here you are.”

Would Sharaku seriously want to talk about the weather? Wouldn’t that be too boring of a conversation topic or something? Unless it was the weather in another dimension… Those places could get up to some crazy stuff. Ozaki had once heard there was a dimension that sometimes rained chocolate milk from cotton candy clouds. But he was getting mentally off topic. “Well a lot of big things have been happening recently.” He would mutter in response. The fact he got to talk to his mother for the first time in fifteen years since her death by his hands was pretty big.
When Ryse came up he was a bit surprised that she was out and about this late at night, but nonetheless happy to see her. Even if the scenario she had walked into was a bit awkward. The album was too big to put in one of his pockets, so he just had to hold it normally. When Ryse handed him the yoga DVD he looked a little flustered, grabbing it gently and joining it in the hand that held the album. He was certainly willing to give it a shot, but was a little embarrassed Ryse had just handed it to him in front of Sharaku and his mom. “Yes. Thank you.” Speaking of embarrassing. “Yuuki’s fine, this is my mom by the way.” Everyone else was going by first name basis here. Might as well not stand on such ceremony. Though he did tend to like his last name more since it was his mother’s maiden name. And not the first name that had kind of in a way been based off of naming him after his father.
He figured he’d also introduced his mother while he was at it so Ryse wouldn’t see her as some random ghost lady.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Well that’s unfortunate.” Dahla would comment on behalf of both of them. She wanted to play some part in this. But it’d been a long time since she’d played any role such as this. She was about to say something else when someone else walked up. Someone who knew both Sharaku and Ozaki knew. “Name’s Dahla.” She said, giving a friendly wave to the nervous girl. “Oh, you’re trying yoga? That sounds like a great idea!” Maybe it’d help him loosen up. Hahaha. Okay that was bad. Most of the stories she had about him were biased through Dawn telling them though.
The Vamp Wolf | Oh yes, maybe big things have been happening, but that in itself was a somewhat poor excuse. Ozaki could still have voiced his desire to speak about something else, and maybe brought up some viable topics to focus on instead. However, all the guy did was try to weasel out of interaction in general for the most part, and frankly, as much as Sharaku did not mind being the driving force of a conversation, he still couldn’t know what would actually hold someone’s attention unless they were willing to divulge. Was it really that much of a surprise that he resigned to prodding at the stuff that was readily obvious and available when he wasn’t getting much positive feedback on anything else anyway? Just because he could sort of perceive people’s emotional responses to what was going on, it did not make him a psychic when it came to knowing what was the right subject to bring up. And he was…quite bad at dealing with awkward silences unless he was with someone he was already comfortable with, therefore he was kind of inclined to pick anything else over that, even if it had to be a more ‘antagonistic’ type of talk. He wasn’t going to have a good relationship with said person anyway, were a constant silence and awkwardness the only other available options.
“Hmph. So they have. I don’t really recall you bringing up other things you were interested in though, which kind of left me to speak about what was obvious. I could technically speak on anything, but it’s hard when you only really project whatever you’re currently being bothered about…” He could use at least having an idea sometimes.
Before he could come up with much else to say though, another new person came around and joined the fray. “Uh…hey.” Well, he wasn’t all that surprised the girl was up, though he wouldn’t have expected to see her wandering out in the city at this time. Guess it was a thing now. For the moment, he’d wear a slightly confused expression, resulting to a single comment under his breath. “Sounds like a good way to tear a muscle, more like…” |
Hm? The ghost was his mom? Ryse’s eyebrows rose a little. “Oh.... I’m.. I’m sorry.” It was kinda pointless, she supposed, to apologize to someone who was already dead for being dead, but she thought it the right thing to do. Regardless of how she died, dying was still a terrible thing. She didn’t know how long the woman had been dead for l, but she guessed for years. Ozaki had never mentioned anything about his mom to her before And now that she looked at the two of them, she could see that Ozaki had some features of his mother in him; like his nose, and the shape of his face in general.
She listened to Sharaku’s words for a moment. Hmm.... were Ozaki and Sharaku having a fight? Were they arguing about something? There was obviously something she’d missed. She didn’t want to pry, though. So it was to his last comment that she replied, her hearing being sharp enough to hear it. “Well, you exercise right?” She asked, looking at the half vampire. The muscles he had told her he did more than just laying around like a couch potato. Her eyes lingered on his scars before looking at his face. She wondered what had happened to give him those scars. “I’d say you’re just as likely to pull a muscle when you’re lifting weights, or running around the track. Yoga is exercise too, you’re working your muscles and getting stronger. And it’s relaxing. At least... it is to me. But I just got started with it. That’s why I just have the beginner’s dvd.”
Other things he was interested in. Well those things were a bit hard to think about when shit was going down in his head. Ozaki drew his fingers through his hair, trying to settle himself a little. He really didn’t know what to do with Sharaku sometimes. He’d be thinking the guy wouldn’t want to talk to him at all… But that apparently wasn’t the case considering he kept doing it. Indeed last time Sharaku had reached out to him. Even though the time with the unicorns had ended on such a sour note. “Well I am sorry. I was a little preoccupied those times.” While Ozaki did his best to sound sincere in his apology, it felt like an excuse to him.
He wasn’t quite sure what Sharaku would be interested in talking about though… He could probably ask though. If Sharaku really wanted to… Of course he wanted to. It just didn’t make much sense that he would. Well at the very least right now they could talk about yoga. Ozaki himself tended to do a bit of weight lifting. Due to the fact hew as a vampire he didn’t really need to do it to be stronger, but pushing one’s limits was a good way to both extend them and also not look like you had a scrawny child’s arms for the rest of however long you lived. “Well what use is our regeneration if we don’t use it anyways?” He said with a half smile, trying to make light of bodily injury. It wasn’t like he hadn’t torn worse than a muscle in his time.
~~~~~~ “You only really tear a muscle if you’re doing it very wrong.” Dahla chimed in. She was curious if these two might know of a good chronomancer, but figured it would probably be best to save that for later in the conversation. She knew it’d mean the world to Yuuki if the family album could be fixed.
Even if it did have Yuuto in it. When Ryse apologized for her current state Dahla would shake her head. “Honestly it was so long ago it hardly even matters at this point. Especially now I’ve got my Yuuki back.” She gave him a quick hair ruffle at that.

The Vamp Wolf | In all fairness, he kind of just…..did things. Why hold onto pointless grudges when nothing was going to change through doing so anyway? It took a more serious problem for him to want nothing to do with a person entirely. Something as simple as a disagreement wasn’t on the list, regardless of the fact that he could get rather angry about it in the moment. It simply didn’t last him long though, and oftentimes he rebounded around with quite the force, even. To some people’s astonishment, apparently. “I’m sure I’ve figured out as much.” No shit. His tone seemed mostly amused for the moment though, so he didn’t appear to be taking that in a negative light.
Ehm, well no, it was not the only kind of exercise that could cause an injury, but… “The calling out is real in this one.” He’d raise his hands up briefly in defeat, shaking his head with a laugh. He couldn’t fight everyone telling him otherwise, could he? Okay, he very well could, and in some cases would, but he wasn’t all that serious about his statement in this particular case to begin with. “I do think it’s quite easy to be in a world of pain because of it if you’re not already a flexible person though. There’s a lot of excessive stretching involved.” If you did that when not used to it, the result could be unpleasant, especially in the case of trying too hard to do some pose right and accidentally overdoing it. “Honestly, I only said that just to say it anyway. Truth to be told, I just think yoga is kind of boring. It’s very slow paced in most cases, and I don’t need help with getting more flexible. Plus, relaxing is the last thing on my mind. I already have to suffer enough sitting on my ass for school studies and the like. I prefer more adrenaline inducing ways to unwind.” He’d wave a hand nonchalantly. He was far too restless to stick with doing poses on a mat. He’d be more likely to attempt a more active way. Acrobatics or something maybe. Hm. Or perhaps he ought to look into martial arts… “Also, the healing is there to save ass when someone tries to fuck you up.” |

At the woman ruffling Ozaki’s hair, Ryse smiled in amusement. It reminded her of something her own mother did at times. Though it was most likely very strange to have the person ruffling your hair be a ghost. The vampire’s head was probably very cold now.
The teenager shrugged at Sharaku’s statements. It was true that one could hurt themselves if they weren’t used to stretching. She didn’t even try to stretch as far as it showed in the video; at this point she wouldn’t be able to do so, and hurting herself would defeat the purpose of bettering herself. She kinda guessed he wasn’t a yoga person, but hey. To each their own. She wasn’t about to judge him for it.
“So, what are you three doing out in the city? Have errands to run or something?” They were in a mall, and not all of their shops closed at night. The movie theater for instance, and a couple of stores and food stands were still open. It wasn’t improbable they had some sort of business to attend to.
She raised an eyebrow at the fact that Sharaku very clearly didn’t have a shirt on. He wasn’t drunk; he didn’t smell like alcohol and he wasn’t stumbling around or slurring his words. Maybe he just liked walking around without a shirt on? Not that he wasn’t attractive; he was well muscled and she bet any girl would be fawning over him. She wasn’t one of those girls though, he was older than her and she didn’t feel anything for him except a familiarity from knowing him a little. Seeing a guy without a shirt on definitely wasn’t the strangest thing she’d seen, but it was curious to ponder over.

Well. That was a response he hadn’t been expecting. Seemed Sharaku was cool with it now. Alright then.
Ozaki bit down a verbal complaint at her being so openly affectionate in public. It was embarrassing, yes. But how he had missed it, how he had missed her. He never thought he’d see her again, never mind interact with her in such a manner. He had some small piece of his old family back. Even if parts of that old family had only ever existed in the mind of a child who had truly and desperately wanted to believe that their father was a good man just doing his best to be sure his family stayed safe. “Well if you think of it that way you’re never going to do anything.” Ozaki replied in response to saying you could tear something.
“Plus, its not like the more vigorous things don’t have a way to cause damage too.” Ozaki’s particular variant of vampire had been gifted their inclination for the hunt by the goddess Artemis herself. As such Ozaki did find some measure of enjoyment from hunting… Though he normally preferred to be off on his own while doing so. Well… preferred was a strong word. He just found it was better that way usually.
If anyone was going to get hurt he’d rather it not be at his expense because a hunt went south. Even if something went badly for him and he was on his own… Ozaki had enough experience in managing to pull himself out by the skin of his teeth. He was lucky in that way he guessed.
When Ryse asked what he was up to Ozaki mused his answer. And how Sharaku had taken to his previous answering of that. “I was taking a flight to think some things over, then I landed here to walk around.”
~~~~ “He was visiting me and he forgot this album back at Dawn’s place. Speaking of.. Do any of you know a chronomancer or someone who might be good at reversing damage?” Might as well bring it up now. Why not? She wasn’t getting any older here. Waiting for the right time to bring up such a thing was a bogus notion anyways. “For the album. Not Dawn’s place. though she could probably save a fortune if she had one around for that.”
Dahla chuckled fondly at the thought of the destruction oriented majin who had been just nutty enough to hire a poltergeist as a maid.
