In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

The damage feels more pointless when you get hurt and didn’t even have fun in the first place.” He’d hmph slightly. Yes, yes, he was getting the point. Anything resembling exercise could end up with an injury, but was every injury equal in value? Getting hurt for a good cause felt less unpleasant than a pointless injury that helped you accomplish nothing solid, or at least bring any sense of entertainment.
…what was he doing here again? Right. He’d shrug. “I was…dragged outside by a bunch of classmates wanting to hang out, but they decided they wanted to go get shitfaced so I took a hike instead. I guess I’m….doing nothing now.” Nope. He was just walking around at this point, honestly. Well, not even that, since he got stopped by this impromptu meeting happening. “Besides wondering why my life’s such a joke sometimes.” Mood. Really.
“I don’t know a lot of people that well, so beats me.” It didn’t sound like a very common power to have either, especially if it actually involved winding back an object’s time. |

Ryse shook her head at the ghosts's question. She didn't even know what a chronomancer was, let alone know anyone like that. She herself didn't know a lot of people outside of her friends in school, and her mom.
"Well, if nobody's doing anything, do you guys want to go see a movie? There's several playing right now." If the two were done arguing now, or whatever it was that was going on between them, they could all do something to relax. It would be a shame to let this night go to waste; the weather was nice, and the moon and stars were out. "Or maybe we could do something else~ What do you all like to do?" She knew that Sharaku liked things that got the blood pumping. But she didn't know what Ozaki liked, or.... what his mother liked to do. Anything was better than just standing around here.

Why was it that that question always felt like he’d received a pop quiz he hadn’t managed to study the right things for? He liked reading. But that wasn’t something you could really do with a group of friends. Hunting? He was best off as a solo hunter. Between his information collecting bats and his preference for long range shooting, it didn’t leave much more for the others to do. Unless they went after more dangerous targets that couldn’t be taken down as easily as a well placed bullet or tranquilizer dart.
Then again, his bats were only good so long as they knew what they were looking for. So there were targets they could go after that wouldn’t have use for them. Or he could go without them. But still… He wasn’t sure how into it Ryse would be and his mother…. Worked for Dawn. That should probably say something about her nowadays. But still.
Karoke was fun. But usually he drank a lot for that, which Sharaku didn’t like and Ryse was here… He could avoid drinking entirely, but then he’d loose all nerve for singing in front of anyone. And his mom for heavens sake. He couldn’t get smashed in front of her.
But if he stayed here to hang out now would Sharaku take offense? He had been oh so much in a hurry to leave the vicinity before. And Sharaku had seen right through the fact that… Yes Ozaki had been trying to avoid him in that case. But Ryse was here now and now he didn’t fully want to leave. Gaaah. Okay. He was just going to go with the movie idea and hope Sharaku didn’t get too mad at the whole him being less eager to leave now that someone else was here.
“A movie sounds good but umm… Most places tend to have a no shirt no shoes policy…” A movie was a safe option. No one could find offense in a movie. Maybe. But there was the half naked elephant in the room… That’d be actually more unusual than a fully naked one though. Heh. Hah. Ozaki covered his mouth, pretending he had an itch on his face as a dumb grin spread across his face at the image in his head.

Internal debate here. Should she go? He was hanging out with his friends. Dahla would rather stay since it had been so long. But she knew people usually would rather not hang out with their friends with their parents hanging around. And she really didn’t want to be too clingy- that could be more off putting than anything else.
Like that blasted sire of his. She really ought give him a piece of her mind. And fists. Just imagining all the things she could do to him was getting her… A bit poltergiesty. She noticed it by the fact the tips of her hair were starting to writhe. Noticing the small signs was important before they became a big problem. “Oh all sorts of things. But I just came to deliver the album to Ozaki. I’ll leave you kids to your fun.”
She at least had the solace to know that he wasn’t just alone somewhere. “It was nice meeting you all.”

The Vamp Wolf | Nope. He wasn’t even thinking about that. Although, it would be a lie to say he did not take notice of it at all. This time around, it just wasn’t important enough however. While he could have made a passing mention about it, there was no way that would go anywhere right there and then. Nor did he feel like explaining everything to Ryse as she would have no idea what was going on were they to start discussing the subject of running away all of a sudden. Not only that, but he was honestly more interested in the bland answer instead. The vampire had definitely not answered the actual question about his likes, and seriously, who actually picked movies before any other activity anyway? Especially when there was no preparation beforehand. He did not want to pay for a random movie that happened to be screening right now, and proceed to bore himself to death because he didn’t even like it. If he ever went to movies, it was because he knew something he truly was interested in seeing was going to be shown, and made plans to go watch it. Going on a whim to watch a random ass pick sounded like such a terrible idea. Either way, defaulting to the offered solution was a little suspicious here. Sometimes he wished he could tell what were people thinking when they said certain things…
In any case, he’d give the two a somewhat theatrical shrug at the mention of his inappropriate clothing situation for the cinema. “I clearly wasn’t trying to go watch movies. As a matter of fact, I’d rather not, my state of dress aside. Going to the movies is better when you pick ahead of time and go watch something you want to see. Picking a random one airing in the moment is a good set up for disappointment, and I personally would happily pass on sitting a couple hours in the cinema watching something boring.” Even doing nothing at all would be slightly better, if only because one wasn’t stuck in one room and could change their mind at any moment to go do something they wanted to. “…I don’t particularly have a list of things I really want to do tonight though, so if the two of you are set on being cliché and doing the movies, I suppose we could.” He had absolutely no idea what was even airing these days, which was already a set up for failure, but it’d be two against one there so he couldn’t overrule them anyway, were they certain that’s what they wanted. |

"Bye, Mrs. Ozaki. It was nice to meet you too." Ryse waved goodbye to the ghost as she disappeared, then turned to Sharaku and shrugged. "Eh, you're right. But we can still look at what's available. If we don't find anything that sounds good, then we can do something else."
She was honestly up for anything. A movie was just the first thing that had come to mind. While planning what to watch was the best option when it came to it, in her opinion there was nothing wrong with going to see what's up in the spur of the moment. Sometimes it was fun to be surprised. "If we don't see a movie we all like, what would you guys like to do?" She asked as she smiled and began walking to the movie theater.
From where she was, she could see five different movies they could choose from. Two of them maybe looked interesting, while the other three didn't. She was wanting to get a closer look to inspect them better.

Oh dear. This question again. It came back like one of those sharks that hadn’t finished the job. The question would be difficult enough if Sharaku wasn’t here. Sharaku who always seemed to find something negative about anything. Even movies weren’t inoffensive to the were-vampire. Everything seemed to have a downside with him. Books were boring, a trip to hell was too dangerous and life-threatening, yoga could tear a muscle.
He liked more active things from the sound of his complaints about yoga. Maybe a flight? But Ozaki’s needed a bit more of a break before going up again. He’d been flying for an hour straight at a tiring pace. Ozaki loved flying, honestly it still ranked as one of his favorite things about being a vampire. There were all sorts of tricks his bats had taught him that were really neat. Granted not all of them were ones Ryse could do given she didn’t have the same wing structure.
And Sharaku… He wasn’t sure how he’d react to the idea. Perhaps Ozaki should just assume he would react to anything that way and only focus on Ryse’s reactions? Well that wouldn’t be very nice, would it? But Ozaki had to say something. Ryse had asked that question again. “Well ummm… Flying can be fun. but I kinda need a break from it since I was up there for so long…”
Ozaki wondered how long it might take to paint part of Mordred’s ostentatious castle wall around his enormous estate pink. Then again. Sounded too risky, even if it was only a small part near an entrance. Definitely a dumb idea to graffiti a gang boss’ home turf… Especially with a kid in tow. Nope. It was time to check out of that train of thought because that boat wasn’t going to float. Oh dear, he was mixing metaphors now.
What would he graffiti on The Bloods’ hideout wall anyway? Ozaki was getting a special kind of stupid smile with these thoughts that Sharaku may or may not recognize from back in the hideout before.

The Vamp Wolf | Oh. Uh. Err. What? Honest to God, he really couldn’t with people sometimes. There was no way around it in the end. His tolerance levels could be so low in regards to certain things, it wasn’t even funny. He was seriously trying though. Trying being the keyword however. It did not mean he was also succeeding, much to his own chagrin.
No, but seriously though. H e l l o? He’d do his best to not sound too exasperated as he pinched the bridge of his nose with a sigh. “I really hate to be the party pooper here, trust me, but did we already forget the fact that they probably seriously won’t even let me inside a cinema with me being half naked here? Unless it’s a hippy one or something.” They couldn’t do that, because they’d be risking some upstanding citizen then bothering them to report it because they were offended they had to sit close to someone like that, and it could cause them a scandal. Of course a normal cinema wouldn’t let people come to movies like that. It was not a good move for them. Therefore, bad idea. And he was not about to go buy a shirt just to be able to go to a movie. In fact, was any clothes shop even open at this time of day anyway?
Also, he was still getting slightly uncomfortable vibes from the vampire while they were at it. He wasn’t even trying to or anything. The big part of the problem was the fact that he had over time come to be quite hyper-aware of people’s behaviors in general, and it was unbelievably hard for him to stay oblivious, whether he was using his powers or not, as paying attention to cues like that wasn’t even a magical power. Just power of observation, really. Well, he did not know exactly what was up at all times, but being able to tell something was off was enough to give him a proverbial headache.
Now, he didn’t hate flying or anything, but why was Ozaki suggesting things only to immediately mention how they were probably not a good idea? The vampire was the one to say that his dress code was bad for movies after agreeing to go to movies, and now brought up flying only to add that he was too exhausted to do it. It did not make sense. Why bring up activities that seemingly can’t even happen? You don’t do that unless you don’t actually want them to happen, or there’s a reason for you to need excuses.
He couldn’t argue with the guy when Ryse was around though, could he? Even if only for her sake since he did not know how she’d take that…and she did seem kind of oblivious to the fact that this decision-making wasn’t even going well at all, given how she was casually shrugging a lot of things off. Not that he even wanted to argue…he just did not like this weird vibe, and playing dumb was obviously not going to fix it at all. Damn his inability to ignore to all hell.
Ok. Ok. So…
….he really did not know how he was supposed to handle this.
Eventually, which was very quickly as a matter of fact, he’d simply give up trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together perfectly, opting to clap his hands a few times to get attention. “I have a better idea. Maybe we should actually try working this out a bit differently. Random shots in the dark are clearly not working, and bringing up options that are not doable from the start does not help us either. How about we try to define the objective here first? What kind of activity do we want? Something like movies which is not much of a hang out but us sitting there not even interacting with each other? Because then we might also give it up and have everyone go do their own thing by themselves. And if we’re trying to go for an actually more interactive group activity, then what is something in that style we could all do right now and is also available at this time of day? Bringing up a few possible ideas and then seeing which we all can agree on might be easier than everyone saying a thing they like, and all of it being different, thus no progress at all.” |

Oh.
Yeah, now that Sharaku mentioned it, it probably wasn't the best idea to go into the theater without a shirt on... Ryse almost facepalmed herself. She should've thought of that before. Oh well. The past was in the past. There was no point in worrying over it now.
Turning around to face the other two, she would walk back over to them. She hadn't gone very far before Sharaku had pointed out something that should have been obvious to her. And she called herself a student scholar.... so much for her observation skills....
"Since we're all here, I'd like us to do something together where we're interacting and such." She replied. It would make the night more entertaining, that was for sure. But. Something they could all do at night... hmm... that was the difficult part. "I like swimming." She offered hesitantly. "Hiking. Singing. Bowling. Playing board games." All of these activities she did casually in her free time. She doubted anyone would want to go hiking in the middle of the night, though, and Sharaku might find it boring to play a board game.
Maybe they could go bowling? Or do some karaoke? She didn't think of herself as a very good singer, but she enjoyed it nonetheless. She also liked reading and drawing, but these weren't things they could all do together and enjoy.

Okay then. Sharaku was getting to get annoyed if he didn’t give a suggestion either way. But the guy wasn’t exactly giving out ideas himself was he? “Well… I know of this one karaoke bowling place.” There were little private rooms that groups of people could rent out. Or just one person could. The place didn’t really care so long as they got their money. He was worried about actually singing in front of people though. but maybe these two would be just as bad as he was and he wouldn’t have to worry about that.
It would be easier if he were drunk, but Ryse was here. He wasn’t sure getting smashed was entirely appropriate. Definitely not. “But. Considering most places have a no shirt no shoes rule… I mean you do have shoes but… Well you’re either going to need to get a shirt or an outdoor activity will need to do.” Whereas Ryse thought the idea of hiking at midnight strange, for a nocturnal creature it was no different than a hike at noon. Though for a vampire that would burn in the sunlight there was a massive difference between the two. Namely in order to not die horribly you’d have to either have an umbrella or dress to cover every inch of skin.
“So… Well there is hiking, swimming… But you need a swim suit for that usually.” One could just get their cloths wet if they weren’t worried about that. Other outdoorsy type things… Hunting duh.

The Vamp Wolf | Hnnnng. Why did this have to be so needlessly complicated? “…why does that have to be such a big deal? I can understand the cinema, as that’s a packed space where people could be forced to sit next to an inappropriately dressed person, but it’s not like anyone has to approach you at a more open establishment like that. Besides, I’d consider it way worse when they get people who get drunk under the table and do stupid crap. Some of those people would maybe just undress themselves while already there because it sounds good in the moment.” He’d shake his head with a faint grumble there, honestly finding some of these policies a little too uptight. What did they even do with people of unusual species that could technically offend others just by their natural appearances? Bar them from entering for a simple look-based thing? Not having a shirt wasn’t even all that offensive, as long as you were not a woman of course.
“I could just pretend to have a shirt if I had to, but that’s effort…but I don’t think any clothes stores are open at this time? And me going back to school just for that would waste a good chunk of time probably.” He’d rather not unless he really had to. Not being able to get anywhere indoors because of that was pretty lame in his opinion. If he behaved, it really didn’t need to be such a problem. “Though outside is….swimming could also be tough since water at night time would be rather cold. Might not be nice for a fire bird.” And hiking relied on all of them definitely having good night vision, as that could be dangerous to do even during the day for people who did not do it regularly. Steep and rocky places weren’t always forgiving. “I can’t really think of much else however…camping?” He’d snort. “Honestly, the karaoke or bowling idea might be best, but them fussing over a shirt sounds a bit upsetting.” |

Ozaki face palmed. He’d totally forgotten. “Right. Your talent could make it look like you have a shirt on.” But if Sharaku used his talent for too long it could be a headache. “If we do the karoke thing won’t matter much what you’re wearing- I mean that you’re not wearing a shirt- once we’re in the private booth area.”
Words. Failing. Okay keep calm Ozaki, he told himself. When he got flustered things only tended to get worse with how he spoke. He could be chill. So chill. Icy chill.

Ryse rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. Sharaku was right of course, in assuming that cold water at night would be harmful to her. The cold would bother her, and the water would feel irritating; and because she was part dog the water wouldn't hurt her like it would any other phoenix. But that wasn't the problem. The problem was that there was no sun. Since it was night, she wouldn't be able to use her fire to warm herself back up again. If she caught hypothermia because she was stupid enough to go swimming in cold water at night, it wouldn't be fun for her.
"It seems like we've all agreed with something after all." She said with a chuckle. "You mentioned a karaoke and bowling place, right Ozaki? I mean... Yuuki. Karaoke sounds like fun~ And you could use your talent until we get into one of those private rooms Yuuki mentioned, Sharaku." It was strange calling the vampire by his first name. And Sharaku seemed to have a Talent that allowed for illusions... hmm... she was learning something new every day.

"Maybe it'll be fine." Ozaki said, not quite sure, but hell... It seemed to be an option they were all okay with. “Well its got bowling of course… And food, mostly burgers and nachoes. Drinks… Not that we should get drunk or anything.” Though that would make singing easier, he wasn’t going to get drunk in the presence of a high schooler. Ozaki’s particular variant of vampire could eat other foods, though they wouldn’t really get as much nutrition from it, nor were their tastebuds similarly inclined as a human’s. The primary purpose of eating anything outside of blood would be mostly to wear down their always growing teeth. Even then you wouldn’t want to eat too much in a single sitting.
“They do have a pretty decent bloody sunrise though.” He’d add in a mutter, hoping Ryse didn’t mind him bringing that bit up. It had real blood in it and the fruity flavor was to die for- at least for Ozaki whose bat form was indeed a fruit bat. There was a non-alcoholic version of that drink that was pretty good.

"I'm pretty sure a shirtless guy isn't the weirdest thing the owners have seen." She stated, trying not to roll her eyes. With the different species and such, she wouldn't be surprised at the stories the owners could tell them. A shirtless guy in one of the private rooms singing karaoke with people he knew probably wouldn't even make them flinch. "It'll probably be fine."
At the mention of not getting drunk, Ryse shook her head. "I'm not old enough to drink anyways." She was only 17, and haven't even graduated high school yet. "And, what's a bloody sunrise?" She assumed it was an alcohol drink of some sort. Not that she could drink alcohol even when she finally turned 21... such a thing was harmful to dogs and birds; both of which she was half of. Maybe there was a kind of drink that safe for animal species to drink, however. Hmm... this was something she'd have to look up.
She wasn't hungry at the moment, but it was nice to know there was food at the establishment. Maybe she would grab a snack or something later on. Turning her attention to the vampire, she rubbed her hands together. "So which way is this place? What is it called? Is it near the mall or...?" She didn't mind if it wasn't near the mall or not. She was with Ozaki and Sharaku, so it wasn't like she was going to be traveling around the city by herself in the middle of the night. She was safe with them.
