welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Rika stood in the middle of a field looking around a bit as he reflected on his life. This field full of open space with the boarder of the forest close by to the west, the mountains in the far off distance to the east, more of the wilderness to the south, and to the north the city and school…it all kind of wrapped up his journey quiet nicely. His simple beginnings in a small yet wild world, going to the school and occasionally going out to do a task or two. It seemed like only a few days rather than actual months, but here he was his beast issues somewhat solved and very close to graduating and in turn figuring out what his next step was in life. Would he work for the school as a teacher or librarian…or would he take to the wilds and travel selling what he found out there? It was hard to say and to be frank it was something he would reflect on in his spare time. Right now, he had a more specific task he wanted to accomplish.
His eyes would drift over to the snow white skinned male that was sitting in the grass next to him. He was still recovering from the mushroom and rabbit issue that had only allowed him a bit of rest or time to heal. Rika still didn’t understand it, but after that event the familiar seemed a bit more nice to him. In the past the familiar was a cold wall and hard to figure out or get to do anything outside of maybe a random small task, but now?
Calabus was currently leaning against his leg with his eyes closed, the slight flick of his tail on occasion proved he was still alert in some fashion despite how still and relaxed he was. In the past, the familiar would’ve never have touched him let alone lean against him, but as of late he had been staying either nearby or occasionally just leaning against him or snuggling into him in dog form. On top of this, on a random try at commanding, the guy actually performed a small task for him without fighting him or flat out refusing. He wasn’t sure if this was just because the guy was still recovering or an actual change, but whatever it was this was kind of a nice change.
In any case, he had waited a week or two before attempting any form of training with the guy and while Calabus still needed to heal, he had followed Rika out here when he had told the other he was going to train. He said he wanted to train too and refused to be left behind, so the Nightmare gave in and let the guy come.
He would watch Calabus rest for a second longer before turning to look towards the school. Training…it wouldn’t be just him and Calabus this round. He had somehow managed to ask his roommate to come and assist with getting the whole command thing figured out along with some other stuff. It was nerve wrecking considering how intense his roommate could be, but he wasn’t sure who else he could ask. Sure he knew a few others around the school, but he knew Sharaku the best and so had asked. He just hoped it went okay, even more so with Calabus still recovering. He bit his lip in a bit of worry as stared at the school, but that is when he felt a tug on his clothing and looked down to find Calabus looking up at him sleepily.
“Chill,” was all he said causing the Nightmare to blink and just stare at the other before slowly nodding as he instead focused on just breathing and staying calm for now. It would be alright….or at least that is what he told himself as continued working on breathing and listening to nature and the trickle of a river nearby.

The Vamp Wolf | This thing. It wasn’t often that he ended up regretting making a promise, but this kind of happened to be one of those times. At the time he had said he’d do it, everything was all fine and there was nothing to worry about, but right now he was not quite sure this was going to go well. Alas, there wasn’t much he could do about that, and he was definitely not the type to go back on his word at last minute. He’d just…have to improvise somehow, right?
Well in any case, he’d make his way to the agreed upon place, a somewhat blank, and stony expression on his face. Honestly, he probably looked like he had gone to hell and back right before this event, given he had bandages wrapped around the majority of what could be seen of the upper half of his body. Which would be a good chunk, as he only had a sleeveless jacket loosely hung on himself, without having it zipped up. What a pain, seriously. For as much as he wanted to, there was basically no way he could avoid being asked questions about this. He was certain it was a guarantee that the Nightmare would bother him about it, seeing as injuries in general were a rare sight on him, with how quickly he could just heal most of them. In the majority of cases, he didn’t even need to bother with wrapping them up, only to pull them off again within a day…that was really a waste of materials. He was sure wasting some of it right now, however…
“Well, aren’t we early today?” |

Rika had just settled himself down and had convinced himself that this training session would be okay despite Calabus not being a 100%; however, just as he calmed, he would find his worry only flaring up again as Sharaku made his appearance on the field…and also appeared to be injured and worse for wear. Just what the hell happened here….? The Nightmare would forget about his nerves from earlier as he shook his head at the other. “I don’t know if time is actually the thing to be worried about right now. What happened to you?” he would ask, taking a careful step forward so Calabus wouldn’t be rocked too much by the action. He could’ve sworn that not too long ago the other was just fine, so what had he done between now and then to get injured like that? It was a bit concerning and made him wonder if this training thing was good at all. Maybe it was better to just call it quits for now and let them both rest. He hated wasting folks time and all, but still...Could they even train effectively like this? He had to wonder as he bit his lip in worry and thought.
Calabus, on the other hand, would force himself to sit up more when the leg he was leaned against began to move a bit. Freeing the leg gave his master free reign to move to the other who appeared to be injured too. Narrowing his eyes, he would take a deeper intake of air quietly catching onto the faint scent of charred skin. Burns? Now that was peculiar even to the familiar, who became more alert as he eyed the other carefully. “Went to hell…literally?” he would ask, the wording causing Rika to blink in confusion not yet understanding what this was implying; however, the question wasn’t for Rika anyway. It was for Sharaku…and the guy was sharp enough to understand things like this no?

The Vamp Wolf | There goes. Immediate questioning. There was absolutely no chance the other would try to be extra courteous and not ask, even given he ought to be aware of the fact that he was not the type to like to discuss his ‘health’ levels, but it was nice to at least wish. The last two times his injuries were brought up, existing or potential, the conversations did not go the best ways, but clearly that did not deter the Nightmare from asking right away once again. The tall hybrid would open his mouth and close it twice before settling with a frown. “I don’t suppose I can just say that I would rather not go into this?” He didn’t want to make a frustrating situation out of it again, which was almost bound to happen with the subject at hand, especially since that would be such a bad thing right now. He really didn’t want to get any form of pissed here, but he wasn’t quite sure whether there was any hope of him achieving that….
“Self-made hell, perhaps.” He’d tsk slightly. He wasn’t going to ask how the guy knew as much, as it didn’t particularly matter. It did kind of mean there would only be more curiosity following though, which didn’t necessarily please him. “If I had gone to actual hell, this wouldn’t happen. I’ve been there before, and I know how to avoid getting too injured.” Not as all over the place as this, at the very least. He would also be better prepared for a trip to hell, most likely. That wasn’t a place you went to on a whim. |

It wasn’t that he wasn’t aware of the fact that asking the question he did could end badly. In fact, he was aware of the other chats about injuries on the other and how they typically ended; however, that still did not stop him from worrying, asking, and wanting to know. Besides…he much rather know what he was dealing with and if there was a need to just let everyone rest or not instead of going head first into something without the knowledge, but….
The Nightmare would see the other’s reaction and heard the question posed. He’d chew on his lip as he considered the other. He wanted nothing more than to pry some more, but maybe time and things in life were finally effecting the Nightmare because after a while, he’d give a light sigh as he looked off to the side not pleased as he opened his mouth. “I will admit I rather know what is up; however, I’ll give you your space and not push. The only ask I have of you is that if at any point during this training it is too much for either of you let me know and we can stop okay?” He would say his words calmly enough as he managed to keep in check his worry for now and resist the urge to pry even more. It was probably better not to add onto any current issues going about. The last thing he wanted was frustration or anger to be involved in this already strained situation for him at least.
Despite his worry and concerned for the two of them, Calabus seemed to be as laid back as ever as he heard the response back. “Ah. Those are always so much fun,” the familiar would purr as he said the words. Even if he did not know the exact details, he could tell by looks and general energy when someone was going through something rough and bringing back injuries too boot? Yeah, he was pretty confident on his calls on things relating to a hard time in life…even more so considering, he was pretty sure that at one point or another he too had probably been in a similar spot as the other, so in a way what made him say what he said was simply the fact he could relate to the situations even without all the details. That aside, the familiar would give a light grunt as he got to his feet and stabilized himself. “Mmm. Familiar lands are easier to prepare for,” he would begin running his hand through his hair before looking over at the other. “However, it is the personal landscapes that are the most unpredictable aren’t they? Can be a pain in the neck with their timing though.” His words would remain chilled and casual, not really prying, but rather seeming to share a bit of something there.
Naturally Rika was curious about the matter and what even they were on about, but he didn’t pry for now. He seemed pretty determine not to go back on his words from earlier unless he absolutely had to.
