welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

This place was ridiculous. Sharaku was half-regretting his decision to move into the dorms already, which arguably wasn't as much of a surprise as one might think. He had a fairly long list of small things that posed an annoyance to him, and it tended to keep growing rather than shrinking down. Seriously though, what was with all the green, literally everywhere? It made him think of barf and a certain few vegetables just by looking at it, and that was hardly what he'd consider a comforting line of thought. This place was already on the list of 'things that might potentially give headaches', simply thanks to the color composition. Whoever thought it was smart to decorate in pretty much one color only must have had a big lack of imagination.
Shaking off an exasperated sigh, the tall young man would inspect the common areas further now that he was more or less settled in enough to call it a success, mentally debating the chances when it came to having a peaceful dorm complex. Somehow, he had a feeling it was unlikely, and that he was potentially jinxing himself all the way into the next dimension by just thinking about it, but he wanted to entertain the idea of wishful thinking at least once in his life. It'd be a milestone, considering blatant optimism was in no way his kind of thing.
A half-bored, half-grumpy expression plastered on his face, the golden eyed male would grumble aloud under his breath this time.
"All this place is missing are some broccoli decorations...."

Morgan had moved into his new dorm very recently. He took a bit of a break from his school duties after his dumb mistake that he had made and screwed up his life. The young man didn't dare to go out right after he placed down his belongings and arranged them to his liking. He stayed in his room for a bit, contemplating what he should do next. /"I should probably check out the more general area of this part of dorm."/ That sounded like a swell idea. Morgan threw on blue jeans and a striped shirt with short sleeves along with a white lightweight hoodie.
The young man wasn't entirely sure why he picked Sage as his dormitory. He just picked it on a whim. Something to do with passion, he didn't know. But it seemed good enough of a reason to enlist there to him. Even if green wasn't his most favourite colour, it was still better than some others. Morgan was living on the second floor of the dorm complex and he took his time going down the two flights of stairs to reach the lobby of the Sage dorm. There was plenty of space for sitting down and tables with chairs to do one's homework, should they wish to do that there. The flooring and carpets were green and the walls had green banners with dragons hanging on them. It was a Sage dormitory, alright. The young man let out a small sigh, as his eyes scanned the large room. It was empty, save for one more person present. He seemed like a student, but one couldn't be absolutely sure.
Seeing as there was nobody else to interact with for the time being, Morgan decided that he would approach the other young man. He was sincerely hoping that the faint aura that followed him would not be too distracting for the stranger. Morgan would make a few steps towards the other young man, keeping some distance in between them, just in case. "Hey there. Are you a student aswell?" He could be more approaching, but he didn't want to assume too many things, even if the other would probably scold him in his thoughts for asking a question with such an obvious answer. Morgan just learned to think twice, when both talking and acting.

Kaname sat on her bed looking at her sword. It seemed to be controlling her life lately. It had put her in the bad books of many people on campus with varying degrees of justification. The teachers had a legitimate reason for their complaints because they had to look out for student safety, but the students had less of a reason. Kaname chalked up student complaints to jealousy that their parents did not have the foresight to collect antique swords.
They were just upset that a freshman did not bow to them and fulfill their every wish. Just because they were older did not mean they were smarter. There were plenty of older people who were not very smart. Kaname also felt that the upperclassmen were worried that they might get outperformed by a lowly freshman. To forestall that possibility, they were making it their business to put her down and shake her self-confidence.
They thought that they were hot stuff just because they had been here longer. She would show them. She would show them all one day.
Kaname paused in mid-thought. She should not feel that way. Other students had just as much right to safety as she did. The hybrid put down her sword, placed it in its special box, locked it, and shoved it under her bed. That sword was controlling her life.
She got up and walked downstairs to do something other than sit around. She found a dark-haired guy with gold eyes and another guy who had recently arrived to the dorms.
"Hi there. How's it going?" Kaname asked the two guys.

It would appear that Sharaku's color comparisons would have to wait, as he suddenly found himself to not be alone in the area anymore. Right. Well, he definitely should have expected some other dorm inhabitants to at the very least pass by sooner or later, albeit he had no idea how many actually lived at this particular dorm. He was bound to find out in time however, and for now, he found himself glancing towards the guy that approached him with a rather...unusual question? It was a weird one to be asking in a place that was specifically meant for students to be staying at, and even if teachers did come around here occasionally, he doubted he looked like one. Theoretically speaking, at the very least. Shooting the guy a half-incredulous look at what he was hearing, he'd eventually respond in a slightly sarcasm-laced tone. "No, I'm actually the dorm ghost. What did you think?" He wasn't the one to go out of his way to sugarcoat his words too much, and this situation was far too ridiculous anyway. It'd be a waste to not offer a silly answer to a silly question, and if someone got offended about it, then he'd deal with that issue later.
...or after having dealt with another arrival that showed up just moments after, causing him to veer away from his mental dilemmas about 'proper' conversation to glance towards the girl that has joined them. "Good day to you as well. The day's going very green, I'd say." What happened to trying to socialize in a normal way? Honestly, he didn't know anymore. It probably had something to do with his mood. Was all the green scenery infecting his brain already? To be fair...it wouldn't even surprise him. Sigh.

It seemed that an another individual had decided to join the two guys at the lobby. It was a peculiar girl, casually greeting them. Morgan would give the girl a quick nod back, as the person he had questioned just before the girl's arrival gave him an answer. Quite the snarky answer, too. It was to be expected, if Morgan had to be honest. The young man would snort in response. "I just know not to assume things anymore, no matter how obvious they may seem." Morgan would reply as he crossed his arms on his chest.
The young man would nod at the girl again, after the snarky guy greeted her. "Hey. Pretty good myself." Morgan would reply to her. It seemed to him that the other guy was easily irritable. Or maybe it was just Morgan's uncomfortable aura, he couldn't really tell. "The name's Morgan, by the way." The young man would introduce himself to his fellow dorm-mates. "What's yours?" He would ask them in return, eyeing both of them. Morgan just wanted to address them with their actual names, rather than just guy or girl. It just made more sense to him.

Kaname did not care much for the attitude of the guy with gold eyes. His sarcastic response to the other guy's simple question was not necessary. Maybe he was trying to impress others with his wit and candor. Kaname's mother Kaede had a saying for people who behaved like that. It was a paraphrase, but the message was clear enough.
"Those with a sharp tongue eventually cut their own throats."
Kaname did not have too much room to throw stones because of her penchant for sarcastic thoughts about others, so she moved onto the reasonably polite guy who had spoken to her.
"My name's Kaname." Kaname said to the other guy, who turned out to be named Morgan.

The Vamp Wolf | Well, true, it could be said that he was easily irritable, although if asked, Sharaku would likely just claim that being irritated at something was his natural state of being. He was skilled at finding something to throw his temper at, whether just internally, or actually putting it out there, depending on the situation. He'd offer the guy a somewhat amused glance however. "You do you. Although if I were you, I'd worry about coming off quite dumb by asking about obvious things often." Personally, he'd rather take being corrected for making the wrong assumption in such a case, than have the reputation of asking things as if he was lacking a few brain cells. Then again, he was more or less used to people not liking what came out of his mouth, so perhaps he had also grown moderately numb to being told off in general. He certainly didn't like his intelligence being questioned though.
Yeah, his sarcasm and dark humor tendencies were a hit or miss, really, as proven by the comment he received from the girl. Impress? No, not really. It was honestly just the way he was, more than anything else. He figured that people would go and make their own assumptions regardless in the end, so the effort he put into playing appearances was often in fact minimal at best, although he did know when it was appropriate. He just happened to have a personality that inspired a lot of 'assumptions', so to speak. Sharaku almost thought himself lucky, but that was not exactly something to be celebrated. The tall young man would put his hands up in the air slightly, a casual 'surrender' gesture, before giving a response. "To be fair, killing myself would be a release from the suffering of life, so maybe I wouldn't even mind. You needn't worry though, I've got pretty tough skin." His tone indicated he wasn't taking this to heart much, simply rolling with the matter at hand. "Right. It's Sharaku." Names were a thing, yes.

Morgan was glad that he was not shot down by the girl and shared her name - Kaname. "Pleased to meet you." He would reply quickly, before the other guy noted that asking questions like the one Morgan had asked before would peg him for a dumbass, but he was fine with that. As long as he never got to experience what he had again, he would be fine with others calling him dumbass. Perhaps he could even surprise somebody with that. The other guy then said something that felt somewhat out of place, to Morgan. Sure, he felt like dying from time to time himself but at the same time, he was hoping that he already got over that period of his life already. Morgan would shrug in response, replying in a similar manner to the guy whom also introduced himself as Sharaku. "You do you, Sharaku."
The young man didn't expect that socializing with his fellow dorm-mates would be so... taxing. Morgan did well with people and didn't mind company, but something about the current one just made him feel tuckered out. Maybe it would be a good idea to find some middle ground? "Are you guys up to something? Did you have something in mind already or just want to hang out for a bit, maybe?" Morgan would ask the duo, casually. He expected a mouthful of an answer from Sharaku, but he was kind of interested to hear what kind of snarky response he would have to the idea of socializing.

"I don't have anything important to do, so why not?" Kaname said to the guy. She had completed tonight's homework and did not feel like exercising on the track. Morgan also seemed like a nice enough guy. The silver-haired girl needed at least one friend among the student body besides Lavender, so why not at least give Morgan a chance? "What did you have in mind?" Kaname asked him.

The Vamp Wolf | “I was planning on it.”, he’d comment back simply, leaving it at that for now. To be fair, it was highly unlikely that he would ever decide to go through with willingly killing himself, but it wouldn’t be wrong to say he had never thought about such things before. These days, he treated it more as a joke since it was simpler, but he did get the implications, of course. Speaking of which, it would seem that the girl had decided to not dignify him with any sort of response at all since that quip about sharp tongues, which to be honest, he found to be the most annoying thing overall. Sharaku really didn’t mind if people chose to insult him or anything like that; hell, he even appreciated it when people had the guts to just tell him what they thought, regardless of what it was. Having his words ignored did come off kind of passive-aggressive though, and that was something he was not a fan of. Especially since he did say something to her previous comment and all, and she didn’t even bother acknowledging it.
He wasn’t certain he was feeling it if that’s how things were going to be, though for the moment he wouldn’t accept nor decline the invitation directly. He had nothing against the Morgan guy if nothing else, but he also wasn’t the one to force himself on people when he wasn’t quite welcome, unless he had a special reason to stick around even through that. He’d offer a snort. “I have nothing planned, though I’m not quite sure my presence is pleasing either of you.” In case it was only going to bring bouts of exasperation, maybe he would be better off not tagging along. He technically didn’t mind either way in the end. He could socialize, but he also had no pressing need to throw himself into such waters often.

All things considered, choosing a dormitory based on its color when she hadn't been able to see for years probably wasn't the best move. Funny? Certainly. Wise? Well, maybe. The Vermillions seemed a bit too...energetic, anyway. Although, knowing Seth, she would be dragged to many of their functions anyway. And she could still tehnically see colors, but...it was a little different than she was used to.
All Esialeth wanted to do was unpack, redecorate (she'd heard that the room was actually cloyingly green), and test her mattress. For a long time. She smiles, imagining a blissful afternoon napping at a window, cocooned in the scent of the trees outside.
She opens the door, reaching out with her aether, and finds honey-thick awkwardness against a backdrop of incessant, ever-present green.
She sighs. The scent of jasmine and springtime frost, once searching, tantalizing, recedes. Her second spirit lets out a groan.
The nap was going to have to wait. In the meantime, she had some conversations to mediate and a whole dormitory to fix.
Esialeth heard the rhythmic clicks of her (red, very sexy and cool) shoes become muffled against the carpet. Her golden eyes flicked around, mostly for effect. Because she was blind. In her most neutral voice, she said, "Hi, then. I'm Esialeth Rose. You've probably seen me around the library. I hope you don't mind if I redecorate a little."

The girl - Kaname, didn't seem to have a problem with hanging out a bit longer. However, Sharaku seemed to have other feelings about this meeting. The young man leaned on an arm of a nearby armchair, his own arms still crossed on his chest. "I'm sorry Sharaku, but there are certain topics I would rather not talk about. But you are more than welcome to hang out. At least when it comes to me." Morgan would apologize to his dorm-mate, as he looked over at Kaname to see what she was thinking.
However, as he looked over to the girl, he noticed an another one, who promptly introduced herself. An another dorm-mate, it seemed like. It was probably for the best if he didn't ask her about her occupation. She mentioned the library, but Morgan was at a bit of a loss. He had just arrived, after all. "I'm Morgan. You can redecorate however you want, I think." The young man would say with a little shrug. "I dunno if there are any rules on that. Go wild I guess." He would continue, as he eyed the room decorations. They weren't that bad, were they?

Esialeth gave the blue-haired mage a placid smile. The tall one looked interesting, but she got the distinct impression that he was coming off strongly to the others. The girl, on the other hand, who couldn't have been more than fifteen, seemed defiant. Esialeth immediately felt protective of her.
"Well, I suppose I will get started. What's your name?" Esialeth asked, inclining her head towards the girl. To the tall one, with the funny eyes, she said, "And you, what's yours?"
What might have seemed like a mundane conversation was set against a backdrop of curtains flying off their rods, windows flying open, tiny clay pots appearing from seemingly nowhere, and sweet white flowers growing from similarly conjured soil, their buds freshly bloomed. The smell of jasmine had somehow intensified.
Show off, hissed her ever present, intangible companion.
What? She was allowed to have a little fun. She wasn't part of some mafia, and she didn't have her soul enslaved by, say, that weird-looking sword. She just had her senses, her magic, and much more memories than her age implied. And her cool hair, she supposed.

"My name's Kaname. Kaname Hayamoto." Kaname greeted the new arrival. The new arrival was a young woman who had a flair for interior decoration. The hybrid did not mind the state of the dorm since she did not stay in it very often. However, Sharaku clearly had a problem with it. Kaname was concerned about putting live greenery in the dorm, but the interior decoration was already underway, so who was she to get in Esialeth's way?
Something felt different about Esialeth. Kaname could not put her finger on it, so she would let the matter go for now. She was too busy watching the magical rearrangement of the dorm to ask very many questions of the new arrival.

The Vamp Wolf | "It's not really about that specifically...." Sharaku would furrow his brows slightly there. Technically speaking, Morgan had spoken to him the most overall, so he really couldn't put much blame on the guy. It wasn't as if he truly minded the fact that the topic of killing wasn't about to be at the forefront either. Dark comments aside, he wasn't trying to make this into depression talk for real.
In any case, it would seem that another person sauntered in while they were talking, clearly eager to mess around with the dorm's decor. True, he himself had been kind of skeptical about the amount of green coloring everywhere, although adding plants was not quite the solution he would ever think of proposing. For several reasons. "Hey...I guess. The name's Sharaku Rikei.", he'd greet the girl, eyeing her somewhat contemplatively for a moment. "Not that I'm against redecorations...but why plants exactly?", he'd rub the bridge of his nose slightly. "Also, is that jasmine I'm smelling?" Curse the fact that his were side was good at identifying plants, even though his other half was kind of allergic to them. He was not going to be a happy man if he had to spend his days among a bunch of plants, even though just their proximity alone wouldn't harm him.
