welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Out in the courtyard, near a very old oak tree circled by shrubbery, there were some quilts laid out in a gentle curve. The positioning hinted that their instructor would be standing near the tree's trunk, and everyone would have an equal view to him. It seemed very logical to him. Laying on a quilt out on some grass somewhere to have a picnic was one of his favorite things, so his students would enjoy such a thing, right? Theo had very little practical use for a classroom. He doubted very seriously that anyone taking his class would object to him shaking up the routine a bit.
Theo Silversong wasn't going to be the average teacher. His class was very hands on, and to be honest he despised sitting still unless he was sleeping. Book knowledge was crammed into their heads all day every day unless it was combat training, which was useful but didn't offer much flavor to life. Before becoming a teacher this year, Theo had traveled the world and explored many areas. He'd found all sorts of treasures and artifacts. The world was a mysterious place where things had happened in his lifetime that made little sense, and it was his passionate believe that these kids would need to be prepared about what do to when discoveries were made! Their whole lives wouldn't be spent trapped inside a stuffy academy or even in Mistere. A simple walk or vacation could have them stumbling into a situation where what he was about to teach them would be invaluable. Worse, what if they found something immeasurably valuable, but left it behind or destroyed it, thinking it was worthless garbage?! The thought left him feeling weak.
Now wasn't a good time for the new faculty on campus to feel weak, though...since he was hiding up in the tree out of sight. He'd climbed up there easily, but it was taking longer than he thought for his students to arrive. The little daydream had almost cost him his grip, which would have had him bouncing off each branch like a pachinko ball until he busted his bottom embarrassingly on the ground below. He regained himself just in time, remaining concealed with a small peep hole in the leaves allowing view of the rainbow quilts below.

Having been a bit early, Crishendia had used her phone to make a picture of the crude map that was present underneath the recorder. It felt like a weird kind of adventure when it came to that, she wondered what would have happened if she just took away the map and everything. She figured that would be rather nasty, since nobody would be able to find the location there. Wait, what if someone else takes away the map and I get the blame for actually arriving at the location? she suddenly wondered as she walked towards the tree. She had been wondering before if she actually needed to walk each and every loop and wave. Like if they were there as a pattern for something. Perhaps a magic incantation?
I'm heading to an archaeology and exploration class, not some kind of cult magic class, she thought to herself as she came to the tree. Slowly looking around the tree's base, there didn't seem to be anyone there yet, but she had been a bit lost on all the loops and waves. Next thing she knew, this teacher was going to start a map with twirls and what not. For that matter, where is said teacher? The angel's wings was this time not even present from the start, having actually walked all the way rather than flying, which she usually did when outdoors. So she looked pretty much like a human with oddly colored skin and eyes. Looking behind her, she checked if possibly other students had actually perhaps followed her around as she hadn't really checked the entire way while checking constantly her phone and the area. Especially for all the loops and such.

Without her sword and with a copy of the map she had traced onto notebook paper, Kaname stepped outside her dorm and into the courtyard at noon. She had to hurry. According to the recorded message, she had to be at the X by 2 P.M. It was fortunate that she had consumed an expresso before setting out. The caffeine helped allay her feelings of irritation and would do so for a few hours.
Kaname immediately began to follow all the lines, doing loops around trees and looking for the broccoli-like tree that was the destination. Some students thought that she had gone off the deep end. She did not care what they thought. It was easy for them to pass judgment on things they knew nothing about.
Kaname followed the map and eventually found a tree with rainbow quilts arranged around its base. That was definitely not a natural feature of the area. She spotted a student with brown hair but with oddly colored skin and eyes. It was time to do the classmate thing and introduce herself.
"Hi there. I'm Kaname." Kaname introduced herself to her classmate.

I am young, don't know 'bout love...
we are wild, can't get enough~
Quinn had reviewed the crudely drawn map several times, and have even gone to necessity of retrieving an official map of the school grounds for comparison. She had spent a significant amount of time tracing the route beforehand to see if it was worth the highly loopy path or whether she should bypass these drawings and making her own much more efficient route. On one hand this could impress her teacher by use of initiative, on the other hand she might miss something important on the routes he had drawn out for them. It was a dilemma, she valued time efficiency but she also didn't want to risk failing the task at hand.
In the end she had chosen to stick with the route provided, however instead of running in her human form. Running along the courtyard students would see a curious sight, a black panther running along, a satchel between it's teeth. Using this form to increase her speed, she made her way along the route she had memorised. Eventually she arrived closed to her location. She quickly found a bush and buried herself inside it. The bush would shake and rustle for several minutes, until finally Quinn emerged in human form. Wearing a loose black dress and black ballet style shoes. Holding a expandable comb and using it to brush the twigs and leaves out of her hair as she made her way towards the mark depicted at X.
As she arrived she noticed two students already there, one of which she recognised from her clothes. She offered them a wave of greeting, "Hey there, I'm Quinn. Do I look okay? I kind of had to get dress in a bush a few minutes ago, thank goodness for foliage am I right?" She said with a chuckle, before sniffing the air. Her strong sense of smell picking up another scent. Someone was nearby but she couldn't pin point where, perhaps the teacher, watching from a distance. She couldn't be sure.

Jinn calmly walked through the shrubbery while a huge yawn left between his lips. He stretched himself out a bit making his elbows and back crack a bit. Jinn walked calmly further while his leather half laced up boots left small trail in the soft ground. His dark slim fit jeans going under the boots and a black slim fit shirt that went a bit thight around his body so the outlines of his muscles were vicible through the shirt. He was playing with a small knife in his hands since he was pretty bored on the way towards here. He was spinning the knife in his hands and throwing it into the air before catching it again.
The moment he entered the field he looked around himself a bit. His talent activated to make sure he took in every single detail of his surrounding. His eyes scanned over the old oak tree and he narrowed his blue grey eyes a bit. He noticed something that shouldn't be there. He looked straight towards the teacher with a small menacing smile. Jinn saw the teacher through his small little peep hole using his talent. He wasn't sure if the teacher noticed him looking straight at him though so he had a small plan. He looked a bit better at the tree from a distance calculating where the hands and branches would be.
Jinn arm that was holding the knife suddenly shot forwards while he threw the kife. The knife flew diagonal up towards the three and dissapeared into the leaves. a small tonk sound could be heard though since the knife would hit one of the branches close too the teacher. Jinn wanted to make sure he had seen him already without much effort since hiding for Jinn never really worked unless he had his eyes closed.
Jinn walked further towards the other people. He recoginized one from being on the roof although that was it. Jinn wasn't really good with names since he never really cared about it. It was fairly easy to give a fasle name so he never rememberd names unless people were important to him. So far no one was really important to Jinn. He was just wandering through the castle on his own.

Lavender spent too much time studying or practicing to really pay attention to anything like picnics, certainly the girl was social but she kept most of her socializing to school functions so she could milk the most out of school possible. Yet, even someone unfamiliar with picnics could recognize what the quilts laid out were supposed to be for! In her mind the blankets resembled desks positioned around some podium, that podium being the large tree itself, realizing this she was quick to take one of the forefront ones. Dilligent student as she was the map everyone else had some version of was also traced into her unlined book she had gotten for the class, a pencil secured inside of it while a pen was clipped onto it, voice recorder tucked safely into her blazer pocket. "It's good to see the two of you again, and you look fine Quinn." the girl spoke out looking in the direction of Kaname and Quinn waving to the two of them briefly as she wrote down some odd things in the margins beside the map of her notebook. Averting her gaze back to her book for a second, the young teenagers hand once more played with the pendant that she couldn't take off but didn't understand the purpose of at all.

Colorful quilts were godly, really. So many lovely patterns to be seen in the grass. Of course, Solla found colors not so vivid with his canine eyes. Even in human form, the colors were barely much brighter. Nevertheless, the patterns and obvious contrast that there were many colors on the quilts screamed the word “gay” to the coal-haired student. He came a minute before 2pm, X marked the spot with the vivid array of blankets. Out of instinct, Solla happily flung himself on one of them, lying down with his sapphire eyes focused on the low-hanging branches of the tree and the azure sky.
It seemed the professor had set up the area, but was late for whatever reason. Or was he? Arms pillowing the back of his head, the church grim took in the scents of the nearby students and people. Expectedly, he could smell someone up in the branches of the tree, but doubted a teacher would bother climbing a tree before class. Closing his eyes in the fresh autumn weather, Solla decided to try and sleep until their teacher arrived. A few seconds of conversation among students, however, kept him from nodding off so easily on the quilts. Turning his head towards them, the dark-haired man shot the ones talking an amused smile. “Do pipe down, if you will. A before-class power nap would be nice~” he said in a cheery manner, not intending to be rude, but still wanting some silence for some rest and relaxation.

Kaname took a deep breath. Not this again. What was it with her and people wanting her to be quiet? First Olivia, now this random guy. Seriously?
Just because quilts were laid out did not mean that it was time to lie down and go to sleep. Whatever. She was getting tired of people throwing their weight around.
Kaname had to keep silent before she said something she would end up regretting. He picked a really bad time to make his comment. Hopefully the class would start soon so that she could focus on something other than being away from her sword.

Blinking a few times, Crishendia nodded her head towards Kaname as she came to her and introduced herself, "a pleasure, I am Crishendia," she replied in a calm voice. A light smile on her face before holding up a hand as another came towards them while waving an arm. The girl talked about having had to change clothing in a bush, the angel was surprised how she went through that effort, had she been late to wake up? No, you would actually dress back at your room if that was the case, right? she pondered on the possibility that her species was just incapable of wearing clothes or something along those lines. More people were popping meanwhile as one spoke to the two with her while the other was, again, Jinn. It seemed like she had a lot similar classes to him?
"I am Crishendia," she said with a bow towards Quinn and Lavender before hearing someone make a comment on wanting to power-nap before class. Looking up at the tree and searching for the source, there was someone trying to... sleep? Apparently also part of the class, but one that wanted to sleep beforehand? "I... don't think that is wise," she said in return, trying to raise her voice a little for the distance. If the guy fell asleep, he could be accidentally left behind, but it sounded like he was a light sleeper if he was already having troubles to nap when a few people were nearby talking. It wasn't like they were shouting, right?

The knife that came flying in too close to him almost ruined his plan. It was all he could do not to squeak, lose his balance flinching, and fall. Yet, by luck alone, he remained hidden...though he did carefully reach out to retrieve the knife for himself. Sure, some students could sense him or smell him, but they didn't know he was the teacher. That was part of the fun.
Theo continued to wait as patiently as possible, but even he was getting restless to start his first class. The count was off. He didn't want to start without someone, but he could really only wait so long. Maybe someone dropped at the last minute, or got sick? Alright then, time to get started!
Leaping from branch to branch, their instructor finally swung down on the last limb and flipped dramatically down to stand at the base of the trunk. Once on the ground once more, with one fluid motion he sent the knife flying back at the boy it belonged to, letting it thud harmlessly at his feet. "I believe that is yours," he smiled, not offended in any way, but a bit curious as to why that was this student's first response to seeing someone hiding in a tree... Anyway, after clearing his throat of first time teacher jitters, he spoke to the pupils on the quilts before him. "Hello!" Theo busted out, flinging his arms wide like a performer. "Welcome to Intro to Archaeology and Exploration. I'm Theo Silversong. Feel free to call me Theo, it's weird when people are too formal with me, you know?" began the onyx haired man, more nervous than he was letting on. Now he had to remember the roster of people signed up for roll call. The night before he'd played the recording multiple times to memorize it, so here it went. "Crishendia, Quinn Beamont, Jinn Cookie, Urmom Gae, Puppy?, Lavender, Hayamoto Kaname, Astrid Beowulf...are you guys all here? Wave at me and let me know which you are."

A student mentioned that a before-class nap was not a wise idea. For any ordinary person, perhaps not, but the life of a canine was quite simple. Eat, sleep, do your business, and do school. Sleeping was extremely important, if not the biggest priority right behind eating. He could doze for a few minutes and wake up for class just fine. Unfortunately, the shut-eye never came. The figure up in the trees swung his way down and landed on the quilts around the base of the trees, only to throw a knife. Solla’s first instinct was to chase whatever had been just thrown, but it quickly seemed that the knife already had an owner and that fetching it would not be wise in a “classroom” setting. Too bad, really. That, and the church grim did at least have a bit more dignity than any average dumb and unintelligent dog.
The onyx-haired man introduced himself as the professor of the archeology and exploration class. He was quite the odd one, but that tended to be the norm for professors and teachers of this academy. Theo then held roll call and listed out some fairly comical and amusing names, one of them in particular causing the canine to chuckle slightly as he lifted from his resting position to sit himself up. The only one relatively akin to something related to him would be ‘puppy’, which was really mildly insulting. He was no puppy, but a grown ass adult dog. Could the teacher not tell that by the barking? What a shame. With a grin, the raven-haired man waved his hand casually. “I’m not in your list by name, but I did sign up~” he explained in a lighthearted voice. “Name’s Solla. Also, ‘Puppy’ won’t be attending.”

Kaname watched as Tracksuit Guy dropped from a tree and landed on his feet. She listened to him call out names and realized that she had made a mistake when giving her own. She had accidentally given her last name first. Thankfully there was a chance to fix that mistake. "I made a mistake when signing up for the class. I accidentally put my last name first. I'm Kaname Hayamoto." Kaname gave Tracksuit Guy her revised name so that he would not mark her absent.

Oh boy, Astrid and directions... If only the rest of the student body knew how foolish it was for the young girl to sign up for this sort of class. Little to say, following directions were not one of the werewolf's specialties. Quite the opposite, in fact. Rumor had it she would get lost inside of a paper bag if given the chance, though it was less of a rumor and more just the straight truth. So knowing this, why did she sign up for a class she was going to be bad at? Well, it was a lot more fun than staying inside the school, and she was much too prideful to ever admit that she was actually super bad at something. So this was a recipe for disaster. More obviously painful when the students were all called for the roster... And Astrid wasn't there to respond. Despite having this difficultly the silvernette had taken extra precaution when faced with the task of finding her teacher once she realized he would not be coming to the assigned classroom, much as the others had. She had drawn down the map down on a piece of loose leaf paper (extra little details like cute little bunnies and butterflies lining the paper included), as well was obtaining an actual map of the school and lining the two up together for much easier exploration. One would think this would make it so the girl found everyone out in the courtyard easier. Well, they didn't know Astrid. She had already ended up in a ton of places on this fine morning during her travels to find Theo's class, which included but not limited to: The swimming pool, the track field, classrooms A-1 and D-3, the kitchen, the garbage monster pit beneath the school, the library, the principal's office, the moon (sadly it was not made of cheese), and Arka. (she got to the boarder and managed to take a step in so it counts). But still, no matter her efforts there was still no Theo or his students. A little unnerving, seeing as how it was almost time to start class and getting a late citation would not look good on her record, but it wasn't exactly her fault seeing as how she had to follow a map she couldn't understand.
Still, she tried. Now was the courtyard's turn. After looking over the map against Astrid was very sure she had found the place. Though, what place in the courtyard was still to be determined. Following her totally great and not terrible at all instincts the map had lead her to the fountain in the middle of the yard. Ah, so the class was... In the fountain? Well, to each their own, she guessed. Standing right before the beautifully carved fountain Astrid took a second to take in its beauty before hopping over the side and jumping into the fountain. Thankfully, not really ever wearing shoes she didn't have to worry about her feet getting wet. Only the bottom of her pants would be, but she didn't really care much. Amber eyes curiously scanning over the trickling water Astrid began her search for the teacher. "Mr Theo? Class?" She would call out, only to pout when there was no response. Reaching into her pocket she would pull out the map again, scanning it over for at least the four-hundredth time today with a confused expression. ... Maybe he was in Hisakawa?....

Watching a man in tracksuit make his appearance from the tree, Crishendia appeared to have found her teacher. Compared to the other teachers, this seemed to be one wearing clothing that seemed somewhat more fitting. Though, thinking on exploration, her first thought would be an appearance that indicated a lot of tools and such. But would that be too bulky? How did everything even work? The angel had no full clue on that area. The guy that had tried to nap gave his name to the teacher while telling 'puppy' wasn't attending. This made Crishendia figure that the man had some kind of canine form. There are a few races with more animal forms, she thought to herself, pondering on that bit for a moment.
Kaname was giving a revision on her name. With a shrug, Crishendia waved a hand as the man did ask to be wave at him, "I am Crishendia... Crishendia Sevenspear in full," she added the last bit so the man would actually have her full name. She wasn't sure if anyone would have her first name in the school, it wasn't exactly a common name to start with. However, it was both better and easier to give the full name. Even though she doubted the teacher wouldn't be able to find her in the school records. If she quickly counted all present, she felt they were missing some. Also one of those names sounded... odd, she pondered on that bit.

The teacher started taking attendance but for the moment Lavender didn't rush to move remaining seated on the small quilt she'd sat herself on earlier. Certainly there were some weird names included within the role sheet, some of them sounding like troll attempts the teacher didn't catch, but at least there was attendance call. "I'm Lavender." the girl spoke up after a few others had already done so, raising her hand so the teacher could tell where she was at.
