welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Everyone usually had a limit of how much they could take from a person before they finally snapped. Whether it was an attitude. Words. Actions. Whether it was directly or indirectly. Whether it was while they were alive, or even after their death. One could reach their limit when it came to others. Usually when those limits were reached the person causing the strife would be in for either A: a world of pain. Or B: a world of shouting... A lot of shouting. Moving through the halls of the Eldritch Academy was one such person who had reached the very top of their limit. Despite it being winter time, and despite the individual being extremely cold all the time. The floor, walls and ceiling singed and scorched from the heat emanating from Oras Aventra Auro.
Everyone avoided him as he made his way past, wondering how he could stand the heat. They were too small minded to figure out that he was generating the heat because they wanted to believe ice could only be cold. It would never occur to them that ice could take on multiple forms. He made his way into the sage dorms, heading towards his summoner's room. From what he could remember, her roommate would not be back yet. That would of course be perfect for what was about to happen. He shifted his form back to normal ice, in order to keep anything from catching fire. He stormed over to his summoner's room and forced the door open. "It's time you and I had a talk," he said as he slammed the door shut. Form six ice covering every inch of it. Preventing it from being forced open or sound from entering or exiting through the door. "Specifically about how you have consistently avoided and ditched me for over almost two full months! And don't you dare act like you don't know why I'm pissed off!"

She could sense him coming from a ways off. It was not hard, given the sensory magic she had set up in the sage dormitory around halls that could get to her room. That, and she could detect the aura, usually cold but now hot, of the very atranoch she summoned into the world. He burst into her room without knocking, which was quite the bold move. What would he have done had she been changing? He slammed the door behind him, which briskly was coated in crystallized ice, one of the many forms from what she recognized. Before he had made his way in, Inglisse had been seated at her desk, studying a page of the Book of Baskerville, the unique tome that she had inherited from her family.
He came in making demands, but after briefly seeing the door slam, Inglisse first turned her attention back to the page. She read the last few sentences of the paragraph, deciding it was a good stopping point. The book was kept open, as if closed, there would be no telling if she would be able to find it again or not. Once she found the appropriate stopping point in a matter of a few quick seconds, Inglisse turned her attention to her loud and disruptive summon. “Oras,” she greeted in a calm manner, her expression for the most part neutral with the slight inklings of a friendly and warm smile. “Firstly, don’t be rude. Knock before you enter a woman’s room, you never know if they could be changing. Second, greet someone before you begin making demands to talk. Third, that is a perfectly good door with a lock on it. There was no reason to freeze it. Fourth, would you like some tea?” she said, at first stern before her expression lightened with a sigh on the fourth point. “We can talk over tea, and if you so wish for crumpets, I bought some just for you. I was actually hoping you’d come back by before long.”
Inglisse went ahead to turn the warmer on that would boil the water in a little red teapot for the two of them. If he was going to argue against her points or demand they talk before tea, he would not have her full attention or eye contact, as she was busy fetching a couple boxes of teabags and preparing two delicate and ornately painted teacups.

He stood there in the room, his eyes semi glowing as he glared at her. She was so very much calm, and took a moment to finish reading something in her book. The only reason he didn't toss the book aside in anger was for two reasons: The first being that he quickly figured out that it was very valuable to her in some way or form. Thus even in his hateful state he wouldn't dare touch it. Not just because she was his summoner, but because he was here due to his desperate desire to create some form of bond with her, not to sever them. The second reason being he'd observed her and the book long enough to learn a few things about it. One being that, it's... Really difficult for her to come to the same page twice. So he's patient enough for her to finish and put it aside. When she finishes however, he expects her to take this seriously.
However, he is very disappointed by the result.
Instead of jumping to the point she chastises him for being rude. For bursting in the door unannounced. For not greeting her first before demanding a talk. And that there was no reason to freeze it. When she mentioned tea he almost conjured spears of ice to destroy them until he heard her mention how she had prepared it for them as she was hoping he would come anyway. This. This statement caught him by surprise. He didn't assault anything else, but he wanted to know why she wanted to see him... First however. "I don't care what you think is rude or not. Because you don't seem to care how I feel about anything. Or how anyone feels for that matter. This will not be a one way street so you will cut the bullshit and listen. Not just listen but acknowledge it. You know I don't care for tea and I'm in no mood for it. You know this. SO ENOUGH ALREADY!" he roared. Making it abundantly clear he was done with her and her games.

He certainly did seem on fire, if that were even possibly for a frosty being like him. As expected, the next stream of words to come were roared in anger. Despite that, Inglisse still quietly focused on making up her tea. The water boiled quickly much to her luck, and she chose her favorite rosebud tea to place into the teacups. After that, the water was carefully poured into each cup. She was playing no games; anyone who knew her understood her preference for formality and hospitable habits. Nevertheless, she could respect if he wanted no tea. “There’s tea if you want it,” she said more abruptly, gesturing to his full teacup before moving towards the tiny sitting area she had set up for Esialeth and herself. “Have a seat.”
Inglisse took a seat on a small sage-green sofa and placed her teacup on a similarly decorated saucer on a coffee table-- probably more accurately referred to as a tea table within that dormitory room. “Now, what was it you wanted to talk about?” she would ask once she was seated, and hopefully Oras was too. If he chose to stand, well, there was little she could do about it.

Watching with frustration, his summoner gestured for him to sit down for a 'civil' conversation. Something Oras wasn't exactly enthusiastic about right now. He did not in fact sit down... Yet. He was too angry with his summoner to do anything relatively calm right now. He wanted her to acknowledge what she had done and apologize. If she could do that, he would most likely calm down enough to cooperate with this... routine. Everyone had a different routine. His summoner had one too. Hers would just, take some getting used to. How his old summoner and he settled disputes were by dueling one another while arguing. One of the biggest rules of combat was to never talk in the middle of it, but it was something they used to get the frustrations out. Something they both agreed on was to never hide how one feels to the other. And they all worked out well.
She asked him then, what he wanted to talk about. If she was faking ignorance he'd be super pissed. If she really was ignorant he'd be wrathful. He wondered which it would be.. "The fact that you've been consistently denying my one real request!! That you would allow me to accompany you as often as possible! And yet you consistently find ways to avoid and ditch me! I've spent more time with nearly every other student in this God Forsaken Academy than my own summoner!! Did you not understand my explanation when you had first summoned me or should I be more clear? Or is it possible that YOU DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT I THINK?!" The more he spoke, the more cold the room became. Because the door was sealed no sound or temperature passed through it. Therefore only Inglisse could hear his words, and only she would feel the chill of his wrath.

Inglisse listened in silence to his loud words while she sipped on her rosebud tea. If anything, it sounded more like the words of a butthurt individual than anything with much logical sense. Yes, he wanted to accompany her, but why? Surely he had seen there was no danger in this time and age in the two months he had spent in their world. She was perfectly safe in the academy, but he still had this obsession to stand by her side. It was an odd thing; was this typical of atranochs?
“It’s not that I don’t understand your request,” Inglisse began thoughtfully, taking another sip of tea. “It’s just that I see little logical reason behind you being in my presence every hour of every day. You may claim it’s to protect me or bond with me, but you fail to miss the fact that the academy is relatively safe, and seeing someone for so long doesn’t create a good bond, but cabin fever in a sense.”
She spoke matter of factly, eyes staring at her tea before gazing back up at him solemnly. “Do you not trust me to take care of myself? What is your obsession with being around so often, anyway?” Inglisse asked politely, no trace of malice in her voice; only curiosity. “Besides, I have a very good reason for having ditched you these past two or three weeks too.”

Hearing her state that she didn't see the logic behind his request he simply scoffed at her. "Of course you don't see the logic behind it. That's because you're a sheltered girl who thinks the world is a pretty peaceful place. Well YOU'RE WRONG. I've experienced this world's evil, cruelty, betrayal, selfishness, and pain time and time again. A full generation's worth of it! I doubt you know what it's like to be subject to torture, being framed, experimented on, fooled, or used as a puppet. As for you're peaceful society? You couldn't possibly guess the number of supposes peaceful places I had seen erupt into chaos by something humans believe to be 'unexpected.' All it takes is one person with dark intentions to ruin everything. So don't you dare say that my protecting you is pointless. I will not let my summoner fall prey to the corruptions of your world!" He took a few seconds to calm himself down just enough to continue. "And I don't demand being by you every hour of every day. I am asking however that you stop ditching me all the time! It's one thing when you need some time to yourself. It's another when you manage to avoid me all the time."
Oras' emotions were getting riled up now. Even her attractiveness wasn't getting to him at this point. This woman was driving him insane. Why couldn't things be like with his first summoner? They got along so well together. She on the other hand was making this almost impossible. "No, I don't trust you. Because you haven't bothered to show me what you're able to do!!" he said in reference to her skills and abilities. "You never even mentioned it! So no, I don't assume you can handle yourself. I assume you need protection, and even if you didn't need it, I sure as hell am not going to let my summoner fight an enemy and threat alone!" When she told him that she had a very good reason for pushing him away he threw his arms up in frustration. "WELL how about we hear it then?!"

Inglisse listened in silence as he continued, speaking of how the world was corrupt and not peaceful. She was no idiot; she knew that much. But she like anyone else in the school would rely on their security, and if needed, she could fight herself. It was not like she could actually die all that easy either. Nevertheless, she gave him the benefit of the doubt for not knowing. After all, she had not yet revealed to him just what she was capable of. Still, there was one thing on her mind for sure with his statement. “You should think before you try to invalidate the pasts of others,” she said in a low voice, her words like venom, amber eyes gazing coldly at her tea. The rest of his statements were more or less either fair or not worth paying attention too. Still, she would not just let the fact he assumed she was some innocent princess slide that easily.
She allowed him to continue after her words, him stating he did not know if she could handle herself in a fight. He really was a clingy person, it seemed. Finally, he demanded to know the reason for her ditching him, which made the cold glare melt away into a lighthearted smirk. Standing up, the blonde walked over to the foot of her desk and picked up a small gift bag decorated with shiny red and green. What was inside was hidden by fluffy white tissue paper. To anyone who understood the color symbolism of the holiday, they would see it was a Christmas gift.
Turning, she brought the gift back and handed it to him before sitting down. “For you. It’s a few days late, but Merry Christmas.” When he opened the bag, he would find a powder blue stylist scarf, freshly knitted. However, the scarf would feel quite frosty to the touch, emanating a cold air. She had knitted it herself, and obviously during times when he was not around. “I magically infused the threads with frost and cold energy,” she would begin to explain with a smile after he opened it. “That was why I couldn’t have you around. It’d ruin the surprise~”

When Inglisse's eyes shifted to a more aggressive stance, and when she spoke with venom in her tone. It was clear to Oras, even in his fury filled state, that he had hit a nerve. He couldn't tell where the nerve was in the state he was in right now, but there was a chance he'd think back on this and meditate to find out exactly what it was. The more he knew about his summoner the better. When she shifted to a playful smirk he only glared at her harder. She moved over to pick up a bag.. which was red and green and white... Then she brought it over to, Oras.. He took the bag, and figured out what it was. He heard his summoner say the words. "Merry Christmas."
This was the last thing he'd been expecting. If he was honest he had completely forgotten about Christmas in his time away from this world. And he'd been so caught up in trying to just be with her and learn more about her, as well as try desperately to find an honest friend in this... School, (despite how horribly it backfired), that it had simply slipped his mind. Oras looked at the bag. He'd been so caught up in their first introduction, and how she appeared to be, that he had failed to consider the other possibilities.
Oras finally sat down and looked back up to Inglisse. The temperature had stopped dropping, and the confusion and embarrassment could be seen in his eyes, though he tried to hide it. "I forgot you guys had Christmas." he said as he reached for the bag. He stopped though. The last gift he received... His left hand instinctively slipped down to the pommel of his sword... He thought about his last summoner and his... He sighed. "Look, I'm sorry I lashed out at you ok? I guess I'm just... Not used to this I guess. The last summoner I had, we were close. Like brothers you could say. I'm not used to having a summoner who doesn't seem interested in doing anything with me. And hearing that you only summoned me for research purposes," he said giving her a glance. He shook his head. "We got off on the wrong foot. I would prefer we try starting this again."
It was then he began to open his present. When he did he saw a powder blue scarf. He cocked an eyebrow as he picked it up, but noticed that it was cool to the touch. This, was like a reverse scarf.. He listened to her explanation, and thought about how this would be very useful during combat... Though he wasn't sure how he liked the idea of wearing a scarf. Still... He gave a light chuckle. "Is this why you've been taking notes on me?" he said, having noticed her always writing notes when she was around him. He folded it quickly and efficiently, testing out the material. When he finished he sighed before putting it on. "Not exactly my personal taste, but I suppose it works with the outfit." He looked back up with a smirk to his summoner. She may not realize it now, but if she took the time to know him. Much of his snarky attitude could just as easily be fun back and forth banter. A form of friendship rather than superiority.

At the very least, the embarrassment and surprise she could sense from him along with the quick backpedaling of his words was satisfying. It made up for his striking of a small nerve with her. Besides, any reaction to a gift being given was always satisfying to the giver. She only hoped a small part of him would like it. Typically something such as a freshly knit scarf could be seen as ‘girly’ or not well appreciated by men, but it varied from person to person. He apologized once again, which was not surprising given the realization of the situation. Inglisse accepted it silently with a nod and warm smile. She would not mind them getting off on a better foot, only, would he bother trying to be wiser and less foolish? His display when touring the school and dorm had been rather irksome, to say the least, as well as his general attitude towards others and her. If this was really going to work, he would have to quickly realize that a bit more respect and decency towards her and others alike would be needed.
He chuckled at the gift she had given him and made a couple comments, before and after putting it on, both of which she identified as more playful banter, as opposed to his use of full on snark. “It looks good on you,” she complimented, sitting herself back down.
Once seated, she retained her smile but moved back towards their original conversation. “I don’t mind starting again. I just need you to understand that this is not like the last time you were summoned, and you can’t force it to be that way again. I’m not like your last summoner,” she explained simply, reaching down for her teacup to take another sip of tea.

Oras' mind was racing through his thoughts. She had been pushing him away because she wanted her gift to be a surprise. Oras had been trying to spend more time with her so he could get to know her better in addition to ensuring her protection. The problem was that his first impression of her was not a good one, which built a negative based outlook on his summoner. Because of this her pushing him away was more frustrating than confusing. So, in a way. It was his fault for assuming based off of first impressions. Her fault for not catching his frustrations and calming him down. And fate's fault for picking his summon to be around Christmas in the first place.
She spoke up since he had himself, and for the first time since their summoning, (albeit not long) she complimented him. It took all the strength in his very being to not blush or show anything of the sort. And even then if she was paying attention would notice that something was off, but wouldn't be able to tell exactly what. He quickly put on a smirk, his eyes filling up with that energetic look once again. Appearing to her as he usually did around people. "The maker of the scarf likes the look of it? How shocking~" He didn't take the scarf off though. He needed to look at it in the mirror first, see how it looked for real. But one thing was certain: It was extraordinarily comfortable. At least it didn't sparkle...
She then shifted their conversation to the original topic. She began to start laying the foundations of what he had to understand. Specifically, that she wasn't his first summoner. And that this was not like the first time he was summoned. His smirk would fade slightly. Normally he'd just blow this away, but.. She was his new summoner so she had a right to see how close his connection with his previous summoner was. How much the person impacted him. "I know it's not the same. And honestly that's probably why it's been so difficult for me to adjust. My previous summoner and I had learned much together. Not just about the world, or skills and knowledge." He looked her in the eyes, his own showing a serious gaze. "I'm not childish, despite what everyone thinks. For everything I do and say there is a reason behind it. If I make a mistake that's serious, I work towards never making it again. You can't change how I act in public, but.. I will do my best to remember that you aren't the person I once worked with. And will do my best to learn who you are as an individual."

She truly failed to care too much about the bond he shared with his previous summoner. While she could empathize with the idea of losing someone and them no longer being around, there was nothing anyone could do to replace someone they had lost, be it a family member or close companion. Expecting someone new to fill that gap was far from fair.
“I believe it’s fair to expect you at least abide by this school’s code of conduct and show some basic courtesy when meeting others. Whatever you do still represents me in the eyes of everyone else, as I summoned you here. We are judged by the company we keep. Don’t make me regret keeping you at my side,” she said after a long sip of tea. Her amber eyes held Oras’ gaze solemnly. Surely what she was asking was not unfair. She would be able to judge the claim that he was not childish based on his response. Stubbornness to continue behaving in a way that was really just flat out embarrassing and immature was not something she would accept. She could not risk being expelled or suspended over a poorly behaved summon of hers.

He listened to her as she spoke. And when she finished he'd close his eyes and give a hollow chuckle. "I'm being honest when I say this: I have no concern about other people's opinions of me. I don't exactly care what their policies are. I've seen, experienced and learned more than most of these people have. Most of what I've heard from the people at this academy. Both teachers and students. Has just been words of ignorance... Though there have been individuals such as yourself, Anara, and that nurse who've proven otherwise." He had paused, and if she tried to speak he would hold his hand up. "At the same time however. As you are my summoner I respect your desires, and thus your wish to be seen a certain way. I will ask why you care how people see you, but you have my word that I will try."
He leaned back in his chair, finally picking up the tea. When he did, she'd notice he cooled it down to the point where ice chips were seen inside the liquid. "The reason I say try, is because of a few things." He sipped the tea, but it would seem he was already well acquainted with the taste of tea. "The first one which you'll understand, is habit. The second being that there's a purpose behind the way I speak to them. Multiple actually. Reasons I would rather leave private for the time being. And the third, well." He blushed ever so slightly with a slight grin. "Admittedly I can be a little stubborn." He took a sip, hoping she'd link the blushing to his admitting something. And not what the truth really was.

“Why I care is simple. I’m at this academy for a reason and can’t risk being suspended, expelled, or given poor grades because of a summon of mine,” Inglisse answered truthfully, pleased to see the atranoch finally indulging himself in some of the tea she made, despite him chilling it instead of having it heated. It made sense, seeing as he was a being of ice and likely found that hot substances did not sit well with him.
Inglisse heard out his reasoning, despite him not wishing to disclose some of the details. She could respect that much. Finally, he smiled with a small flush of blush coming to his face, confirming one of her suspicions. “No kidding, captain obvious” she joked back, mirroring his grin. “Well, as long as your ‘trying’ doesn’t land you or me in any trouble, I’ll try not to ditch you for no reason,” she responded with a smile.

While he noticed she didn't clarify why she was at the Academy, which he really wanted to know so he could help achieve her goal. He didn't push for answers. Even though he didn't show it to others, he knew how to be patient. You had to be in true combat after all. The duel he held in the courtyard was more of a test than anything else really. At any rate she was using logic again. He didn't expect any less at this point. He had learned one thing about his summoner at least: She was no stranger to logic and reason. He nodded to her. "Well alright then. As long as logic stands as the foundation I've no reason to argue. I'll make sure to read up on the Academy's rules, no matter how stupid or narrow minded they are. I won't break anything, don't worry." He took another sip of his tea, then began to swirl it around a little bit. When she smiled after he blushed he couldn't tell if she knew the truth. Or if she was assuming it was because he had admitted he was a bit stubborn. He supposed he'd just have to wait it out, and see if she knew the truth yet. Which he doubted hoped she didn't. When she made her agreement he chuckled and raised his cup. "It's a deal then."
He downed the rest of his cup then set it aside. He paused for a moment, then continued. "My previous summoner and I always settled disputes by dueling. We'd get our emotions out in the open and use the physical activity to burn the anger out of us. Afterwards, we'd discuss things calmly and easily. Reaching an agreement." He turned his gaze from the cup to her eyes. "I know you're not him. Which is why I bring this up: I'll need a new method to handle disputes with you. Something we both can agree on." He folded his right leg over his left. "I'm sure you realize by now that if we disagree on things.. I'm going to need a method to channel that emotion. In Elentros I deal with it in a completely different, yet more effective method. In your world of reality however, it is a far more difficult task for me."
