welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

It was not a mere hour after convincing Mordred to leave Yuuki be, to not keep a guard on him because it was only stocking the boy’s animosity towards them, that Antonio was left to his own devices.
He had been watching the boy for weeks to try and make sure he stayed out of danger, to learn more about him. He had tried to be less in the shadows about it than most. They had been there to protect him but had only gotten Yuuki angry at them for it. Yuuki did not want them to be in his life. They had failed to be there when he needed them and now their presence was only a nuisance.
Now he was free of that responsibility and just let to his own thoughts for now. For awhile he had been sitting at a chair reading some random book, but the more he thought the less he could focus on it.
Like… What if they had been there for him? What would it had been like then? Would things be better? What if Antonio had used his talent to see into the future… And seen that Yuuki wasn’t dead? Meggi had come to him for advice all those years ago after she had found out that Yuuki was the son of a pastor of The Church of Purity. He had looked into the future, only skimming for a vague sense of the possibilities rather than an outright look. She had died. Then he thought Yuuki died. Which confused him so… But his talent was a tricky one. He tried to avoid using his outright version of future sight as it often led him into troublesome situations.
But what if he had used it then?
As his mind drifted into this possibility his eyes steadily turned gold whilst daydreaming through such a time line. Given that he was in his room when he started drifting off it was a solid day before anyone noticed his absence, came knocking, and opened the door. By then he was already completely engrossed in his alternative realities. They waited a couple of days. A week. Another week, until it was becoming clear that where ever Antonio was mentally… He wasn’t going to be able to come out of it without help.
And that’s where someone had gotten the brilliant idea to call Rika- a recently made acquaintance of the gang’s boss- to assist in this matter.
Three weeks asleep wasn’t the worst thing in the world for a vampire. But given the states Antonio was liable to wake up in if allowed to be in such a state for too long… They’d prefer to have it end sooner rather than later. For now Antonio was tucked away, eyes closed and resting on the bed. He had been brought to a hotel for this of course… While Rika might know Mordred that was no reason to bring some they barely knew into their hideout.
A member of the Bloods gang was there, opening the door for Rika and.... Someone else with him apparently. "... Rika, right? Who's this with you?" The man was a bit brusk. But surprises in scenarios such as this were not always pleasant.

His day had started normally enough, the Nightmare waking up way before the sun to prepare for a day of study or some other activity to keep his mind engaged. His day passed by normally enough that was until the sun began to set and darkness took over. He had just sat down at his desk by the window in the dorm room and was about to see if he could figure out that Japanese system he had found when unexpectedly his phone started to make strange sounds. What was it called? Ringing?
Well whatever it was called those sounds were enough of a distraction to have the Nightmare searching himself for the phone and after answering it had the oddest conversation. The person on the other line was someone he didn’t know making the Nightmare question how said person got his number anyway. It took a bit of poking, but he eventually found that whoever this was had a connection to Mordred that fancy fellow he had met at that even fancier party a few weeks back. How odd. The Nightmare had wanted to poke more into said connection, but found himself quickly blocked by this rather odd fellow who didn't seem to be in the mood for such a game. Disappointing really. He much rather know the details of this one, but he supposed he would have to find another way to solve the phone number mystery....and maybe even the thing that happened next. Regardless of the other not wanting to answer his question in the end, the guy ended up asking the Nightmare something that made him both curious and anxious all at once. So there was someone who was asleep that hadn’t woken up for weeks and the caller wanted his help with waking sleeping beauty?
Okay. That was certainly an odd request, but why did they want him specifically to help? Well come to find out they knew what type of creature he was and that made that uncomfortable feeling even worse. He admitted he was odd, but he didn’t ever recall saying anything to Mordred about being what he was so…how did this caller get such private information? Was he being spied on or what? Feeling the most uncomfortable he had ever been with a matter, the Nightmare did the logical thing naturally. He agreed to help. Why?
Well it was mostly curiosity of the case itself. This person that had been sleeping for weeks, so why on earth hadn't they gone to a hospital instead? The fact they specifically were asking for his help made him curious what sort of sleep it was this person was in. So a huge driving factor was research and a puzzle with combined with the small fact he simply liked helping others if he could. The other half or why he was the questions that came up with all this. Who was this person and the people with them? And what connection did they have with Mordred or information for that matter get what they had on him? He wanted to know all of this so he had to go, but not without back up.
While it was true the Nightmare could take care himself if this did go way down hill, he just felt better with someone familiar with him…and someone he knew could actually fight if shit were to get physical. And who was that he aimed for person? Well his roommate – Sharaku of course. So after he hung up the phone, he began texting the guy to find out where he was and then after locating him proceeded to tell him what happen. And after that? He had to spend a few moments to convince the guy to come along. It took a while, but at least the guy finally did bend for whatever reason and agree to come along an end result that Rika was grateful for more than safety reasons.
With all that squared away, he and Sharaku would go to the location where the person was located, a hotel that only brought more questions and unpleasant scenarios to the dreamweaver's mind; however, he would push those away before they got out of hand. They would enter and find the room, the one at the door not exactly pleasant so to speak, but that didn't stop the Dreamweaver from giving his best friendly smile as he nodded.
"That's right," he would confirm playing the part of calm and unafraid well enough on the outside. "Ah yes. This is Sharaku. A friend of mine I brought along. Hope you don't mind." He would say as he eventually moved from the door into the room. His eyes scanning the details briefly before landing on the subject? Or was target a better word? Uh...how did one not describe this in experimental terms?

The Vamp Wolf | Honestly, he wasn’t sure what compelled some people to ask him for assistance, considering he most likely gave a very clear vibe that he was not the type of person who liked to suffer through others’ requests left and right. Then again, perhaps he ought to be pleased that they thought he was the best idea of a helping hand? If they thought someone else was more competent, they would have gone after them instead….well, supposedly. Hell if he knew what some people were thinking with their decisions.
Frankly, helping random people he didn’t know, nor could see the state of in the moment was typically not on his agenda list, so he was initially a tiny bit skeptical when Rika contacted him asking for him to just up and come along with him somewhere on such a short notice. Luckily for his oddball roommate, the mention of who was behind this whole call for help was a definite point of interest. Why would they ask an outsider to come help out like that, and as a matter of fact, since when was Rika acquainted with them? He seriously wanted to ask that one, but there wasn’t enough time to prod into that, given this gig was kind of an immediate one and they did not have the time to chat about a lot of things before going. How unfortunate. Without a question however, he did make a note to inquire about that later, assuming it did not get mentioned throughout whatever this venture entailed.
The choice of location was highly unusual too. A hotel? They had such a big and fancy headquarters area, and decided to do it this way instead? Maybe he was missing something and this was some secret undercover operation or whatever. Ha….for some reason that gang hardly struck him as the type to actually succeed at not being in any way eccentric or at least somehow weird. Especially with Mordred at the head.
When Rika went ahead to ‘introduce’ him to the apparently suspicious guard, he’d momentarily purse his lips, seeming a bit disappointed about something. “And here I thought I could pretend I was just his cute fairy cheerleader or whatever…I guess now I can’t though.” He’d shake his head with a huff. Even if not all of them knew him personally, with the blow up that happened at that impromptu visit recently, he didn’t doubt they’ve all at the very least heard his name, and since it was not hard to identify him as a vampire, the connection was a simple one. Unless they were dealing with a dumb guard, in which case he could maybe have a laugh at this still. “…but really, I’m sure they all love me, so I would hope they don’t mind.” The nonchalant quip aside, he’d turn his attention to the figure on the bed, frowning slightly. Well…he could tell the guy was definitely using his talent in some way at the moment, as he could sense that, but he did also appear to be sleeping. Was that part of the issue here…? |

Was Rika being spied on? The odds were likely. Not only had Rika been in Ozaki’s proximity multiple times, but now he was in Mordred’s radius as well. Regis, Mordred’s right hand man, was a man who liked to know what was going on at all times. Collecting simple information like what species Rika was and what they were capable of was important. Mordred may seem strong, but he wasn’t as invincible as he may think. Regis had seen him end up in a coffin comatose from injuries far too many times to believe that.
This, however, was not Regis. This was just some random goon who upon hearing Sharaku’s name had a flicker of recognition for it. He had heard about this kid. Mordred had been very unhappy to find out that he had not been informed of Sharaku’s existence. Nor of the fact they had simply let the kid vanish. Not that this guy had been in charge of him at any point. It didn’t have anything to do with him. Except now Mordred wanted to be extra sure that Sharaku could feel like he was part of the family.
What was he supposed to do? Act extra smiley or some shit? No. He was just going to stick to business for now. He would hold in consideration that he was to be considered family during this interaction.
“Though I will not necessarily say no to him coming… I should let you know before going in there more details on the exact nature of Antonio’s condition."
“Antonio has a precognition talent, and part if it allows him to see into alternative timelines with crystal clarity. Problem with it is, if he gets too engrossed in it he can’t stop doing it. And falls into a slumber like this. We called RIka because he’s a Dreamweaver and due to that may be more accustomed to the type of environment you’ll be exposed to in there… That and if he stays in there too long there won’t be a threat to his life due to his particular nature. You however… Vampires are able to slip into a coma-like state to preserve their life. We can’t be certain your body will be able to do the same if you end up staying in there too long. Like the last one we sent in there to try and get him out of his own head the last time this happened. She didn’t make it out in time and her body died.”
Now this man didn’t know Sharaku at all. But he had to make clear the dangers of going into Antonio’s mind. Because if they dawdled too long and Sharaku died in there because his hybrid nature did not permit such hibernative states…. Mordred was probably going to go on a bender. And while this man may not particularly know or care for Sharaku, he did of course care for his sire.

Rika would introduce Sharaku and take notice of his reaction and comment. Not exactly seeming to be put down by a disappointed look the Nightmare would smirk at the taller man and shake his head. “Well, you’ll make a great cheerleader even without being a fairy. Want me to create you some pompoms?” he would say, the thought of Sharaku as a cheerleader let alone a fairy was kind of comical. He wondered if the guy would actually do such a thing if offered an opportunity. That amusing curiosity aside, the Nightmare’s smile would fade into a softer one as he heard the last part he would give a light nod. “It should be fine yes?” he would say as his attention turned back to the guard, who for the most part didn’t seem displeased about the matter, but not exactly happy either. It was kind of hard to read a face like that, but as long as the guard didn’t do anything to attack Rika supposed he could deal with the unknown facial expression for the moment and maybe even longer considering this one did indeed let Sharaku come. Phew….he didn’t have to fight to keep his company.
Moving past that, the Nightmare would begin to make his way into the room pausing off to the side of the entrance as he looked at the body of the unknown person and then back at Sharaku who was frowning. He would’ve poked him for an answer to that frown, but the guard was giving information so he decided to knock the question back and focus on that for a moment. Well at least he had a name for said body, but…
The Nightmare would frown at the information given.
“I have three questions in regards to this. One how did you figure out exactly what I was and got my number? Two what exactly is the time limit before it becomes being too long in that space? And three,” he looked at Sharaku. “You okay with this?”
He had more questions than that, but this would do. More importantly than that though. Even if he had asked Sharaku to come, the scapes of dreams and the mind were often quite harsh on one not acquainted with them. He didn’t want his roommate getting killed nor damaged from this so he wouldn’t drag him further if he did not wish to go….

The Vamp Wolf | “I think it’s a little late for that.” The whole point of the joke would be him pretending to be something he was not, but he could hardly do that at all when the people they were assisting now knew who he was, could he? He had not given a very cheery impression the last time, and while he had no idea what kinds of rumors had spread and to what extent, being silly was no longer really worth it either way. “To be fair, I doubt it’d be an appreciated action even if it was a viable one.” As much as these guys could be proverbial clowns, they surely wouldn’t have called someone for help and then took a funny response without even a hint of displeasure. He sure wouldn’t, were he in their position.
Anyway, risks, right. It was true that he lacked experience when it came to travelling into people’s minds, as his powers did not let him go that far. At least, he was not aware of being able to do anything like that at present. It clearly couldn’t be that bad though, considering they had sent another non-dreamweaver person in there in the past as well, proving that it was very much possible to withstand it just fine. The only obvious issue was the time spent, but that was something he could counter rather easily in his case, making it an insignificant matter to be worried about. “Only question I have is whether the passage of time is the same here and over there. I can guarantee you I won’t lose track of time as long as I’m aware of any potential differences between the two. Therefore, staying too long ought to not be a problem at all. I’m not that easy to take down anyway though.” If there was anything he surely could do, it was being well aware of all the time that had passed.
What he was not aware of however, was how did Rika get roped into these guys’ problems without knowing how it happened himself. He’d glance at his companion with a slightly raised eyebrow. “You get acquainted with the big boss of a large vampire gang, and you have to ask how they’d sniff out info on you? There’s probably a billion shady ways they could snoop it out, especially if you told him anything that would make it simple enough to identify you. If you wanted privacy, you didn’t exactly pick the best group to associate with, and even less so by doing it directly through that man.” He’d shake his head with a faint laugh. He doubted they would be a very effective gang if they shied away from infringing on people’s privacy and all that. |

The man took the jesting between the two as something to simply not engage with. When Rika asked if it should be fine he gave a shrug. Honestly he could not say that for certain. It could be done, yes. Should it was the question. “You could likely stay in there for as long as you wanted." He looked over to Sharaku then. "Your time limit is more determined on how long you can go without eating."
The gangster man nodded at Sharaku’s deduction at how he had found out this information on Rika. “You’ve had contact with multiple family members of ours at this point, it’d be foolish of us not to investigate at least that much.” Mordred, Ozaki, Sharaku, while the last two were not the closest to the family, Mordred insisted they be treated as family. The Bloods were a powerful family that could protect their own, but as it was they did have enemies. And it was wise to be sure that those enemies were not encroaching through seemingly innocent friendships.
Knowledge is power, and there were those in the Bloods who were unwilling to be ignorant in anything. Granted. They hadn’t dug that deep on Rika. Just enough to know some basic things and some of his regular associates. Finding out someone’s species and phone number wasn’t truly an impressive feat.
“As for how time flows…. Hard to say, but assume more time is passing out here than it is in there to be on the safe side.” Dreams were weird things. They could either pass the blink of an eye or take hours. Sometimes it was simultaneous.
Antonio himself couldn’t answer the question of how time passed when he was lost in his visions. Maybe it was an easy one for one time exchange… But he was always in his head for so long when this happened.

“Awww. That is too bad,” the Nightmare would say with a small pout. Not truly hurt by the matter considering the situation and all, but still perhaps a bit of fun would’ve been interesting to take reaction notes on. Ah well, his roommate wasn’t going to play the game and even if he did would this guy before the door play? Maybe…but then again most likely not. This one did seem like the more serious sort. You see that? The guy didn’t even make it assuring if it was indeed fine for Sharaku to be here with him. Ah well. He’d make it fine for now.
Well with fun time officially put the side, it was time to get down to business wasn’t it? And of course questions. Questions about time and gangs? Wait what? Rika would blink at Sharaku’s response giving him a confused look.
“So he was serious about that one…well now. That does explain things.” Kind of interesting one would be so open about that. Wouldn’t you want to keep your status as a gang boss hidden? Anyway. And what was that? The other was confirming that it was true they were watching him? He wasn't sure that he liked that at all. Also... “Multiple members of the family?” Outside of Mordred the only person he had talked to was Ozaki and Sharaku….Ozaki was the most likely suspect of the other member right? Or was Sharaku one too? He seemed to know Mordred well enough no? This was getting confusing and opening more questions. After a moment he’d shake his head about the matter deciding right now wasn’t the time to pick apart family connection thingies or be worried about just how many eyes were on him. Right now he had a job to do and this was kind of not pressing. Anyway, time limits.
So it would seem that one could be in there for however long they wanted…as long as they could eat. And time flowed differently there from out here. “Hmm I see. Well then, let’s hope we don’t get off track and can get the guy back here in timely matter. We don't want anyone going hungry in there.” The Nightmare was happy that Sharaku was coming, but it was concerning the feeding things and time for various reasons one being he could indeed get off track and lose track of time and two...if they lost too much time and Sharaku got hungry what then? Would he attack? Or saying nothing and starve? And what of the one inside his own head, didn't he have to pay a similar price for being so lost in the clouds.

The Vamp Wolf | "Long enough." He'd snort faintly. While he was only half vampire, he wasn't going to just drop dead from lack of food that quickly. He could hold out if he needed to. After all, a werewolf is a wild breed as well. Sometimes out in the wild, you're not lucky with hauling a kill for a while too. Frankly, he'd worry more about the guy who was already out for quite a while. If they did go and stay in for another decently long bunch of time trying to drag him out, it'd be so much longer in total for Antonio than for them. Even a full vampire and all had some limits, surely. Unless they were pumping blood into him while he was out to make sure he didn't go wild upon waking...which technically could work for himself too, were a situation to become too dire. As much as he'd heavily prefer to not be tampered with without his knowledge.
He'd shake his head with a laugh when Rika commented on thinking Mordred had not been serious with what his 'status' was. "Trust me, that man hardly knows the meaning of being subtle." He didn't even know the fancy vampire well yet, but from the grandiose acting he had witnessed during that one visit, he could easily garner as much at that. "Hn. You're not a lucky one there." He wasn't going to mention his connection with them right now, though he didn't doubt that either this guard or later Antonio himself would somehow reveal it anyway. Right now though, it'd be better they did not pause much to discuss the details of that.
"You needn't worry about me too much. I won't bite anyone's head off if it does come down to it. I think that as long as it's not along the lines of a minute there being a couple hours here though, we should be able to track fine." He could make sure they knew what the time that passed while they were there was...and if they just assumed reality was maybe a bit faster, it ought to be a good enough of a check. |

At multiple members of the family being asked it occurred to the gang member that Yuuki or Sharaku probably hadn’t revealed their connections to the gang, given they weren’t particularly enthused about them. Best to just nod and move on from that.
The man grimaced slightly at Sharaku commented on the subtly part. He wasn’t wrong about that. Mordred could be… Difficult at times given that fact. “Best of luck in there. Try not to get too distracted by the alternate timelines.”

The food issue wasn’t really a worry for the Nightmare. As long as some form of negative energy could be found he could last for a good while without anything to chow down on. Where the Nightmare did worry was for the ones that needed to eat. Yes he could bring Sharaku in there, but if they got lost what would happen then and what of the sleeping one? Would they die? Go berserk? He had to wonder, but honestly didn’t want to know the answer even if it was a rather interesting thing to ponder.
That aside, the Nightmare would find himself giving the other a confused look at the laugh. “So you know him…” Interesting. What else did this one know when it came to this group? Also why was Mr. Guard not answering his question about family members? And why was he unlucky according to Sharaku? The questions and the desire to get those answers was strong in the Nightmare. In fact, it almost looked like the Nightmare would poke at things as his eyes narrowed a bit at the situation, but then after a while he’d speak. “I’ll ask you later why that is the case,” he would tell Sharaku before shaking his head to focus.
“Well that is good to know. Alright, you be the tracker of time then and I’ll do my best not to get off task with temptations.” Alternate time lines did sound fun though…but no, no. They had a task to do. Well then…With that being said, the Nightmare would let whatever conversation pass before moving closer to the bed where the sleeping vampire was. After being sure they were absolutely ready, he would focus on the vampire finding the pathways of sleep before drawing a door to enter the that dream world. He would enter leaving the door open only long enough for Sharaku to follow.

"Looks like that's settled then." The man said, watching Rika make the door.
~~~~~~
When they arrived in Antonio's mindscape Rika would find himself in an unfamiliar place. Sharaku, on the otherhand would find it comparatively more familiar. Even if he hadn't exactly called it home in a couple of decades. The Bloods hideout looked like it had gotten a few new sunroofs, and every so often from the windows a blinding holy white light would flash from them. It looked like the hide-out must be under attack...
The Nightmare would hear the response and give a light “Huh” of intrigue as he rubbed his chin a bit in thought. Well the other was right about one thing. He did want to dissect this matter and find out more about what the other knew; however…
The Nightmare would snort slightly. “That is why I said later and not now.” While he could launch into questions here and now he was here to perform a task for another and well he was going to do just that. Despite being one to follow curiosity into many rabbit holes, when he had task at hand the Nightmare could focus...even though that focus could always be broken by stronger urges to study or figure out something new along the way. Thankfully, Mordred and connection wasn’t his top interest now. No he wanted to go find the one in the dream and see what was in the rabbit hole of the mind.
With that at the front of his mind, he would open the door into the dream world that would snap close as soon as Sharaku was through.
“Well then you have nothing to worry about if that is the case. I will be good, boss,” he would say with an amused and soft chuckle before becoming serious and looking around the place they were in.
He was not familiar with this location that had windows in it. Windows that lit up with a light that made a part of him uneasy. Not too sure if he liked this or not, he would take a few cautious steps further in listening to the area as his eyes scanned for threats as he took in the layout of the place. “What is this place? And where would our target likely be hiding?”
The Vamp Wolf | Oh, he certainly did have things he could be worrying about given the sketchy uncertain circumstances of this rescue task, despite how casually he was taking it for the time being. Jokes and all, he was seriously determined to not lose the guy in there, or at the very least not unless they've found their target already. In which case it would technically be a matter of choice, albeit he personally would not support the idea of going exploring inside such a potentially volatile imaginary environment. He liked his life in reality slightly more....
Especially after seeing where their initial landing ended up being. Just great. Although maybe he ought to have expected that, considering who it was they were dealing with here. He'd drag a hand through his hair with a somewhat exasperated sigh. "It would appear that....we've landed at the gang's headquarters. Well, some version of it at the very least." Why would vampires want sunroofs? Weird. "As for where....I'd say top pick is somewhere near the action." He'd point at the flashing seemingly going on outside. "He's here to watch how these alternates turn out, right? He'd want to be able to see what people are doing and clearly something is happening in the outside area." Didn't seem like a good thing though, unless they were trying to have a very dumb party...though if he was correct about that not being normal light, it was unlikely to be anything positive.
"I assume we go there? I can more or less navigate this place, unless it's been changed more than it appears to at glance." |
